At this point, I think (some) people on the right are just pronouncing it wrong to show their political views. It's kinda funny to watch TBH, because it's not hard to get it right. She pronounces it just straight up, Kahm-uh-luh but because Trump has started doing it, some other republicans now (purposefully?) put an emphasis on the middle syllable, by saying Ka-MA-luh. I'm not saying all Republicans are a hive mind or whatever, I always hate when both sides use that insult. I'm just poking fun at some MAGA morons, though there are smart conservatives who are decent people and take the time to pronounce It right.

Me and my friend just realized that almost all the most Famous Kennedys have had problems with their brain, and more often than not, it ended up being fatal. Obviously, JFK and Bobby were shot in the brain. RFK Jr. had the Brainworms. Ted Kennedy died due to a brain tumor. Rose Kennedy had mental problems, and then suffered much more later on because of a lobotomy.
Michael Kennedy died in a skiing accident when he crashed into a tree, but the technical cause of death was attributed to brain trauma. Joe Kennedy died from complications due to a stroke. These two are a bit more unrelated, but you can see how they get tied to brain problems.
Then we start to get to some pretty big stretches. JFK Jr. died in a plane crash. I mean, his brain technically had some major problems because of that, right? Kathleen and Joseph Kennedy also died in plane crashes, so we can expand that to them too. David Kennedy died from a drug OD, but this was following some serious mental health problems he was going through. Mary Kennedy (Estranged wife of RFK Jr.) committed suicide, so you can chalk that up to mental health problems too. Joan Kennedy (Wife of Ted) is still alive, but has also struggled with alcoholism and has been hospitalized for brain trauma In the past. Patrick J. Kennedy (son of Ted) is also still alive but has been diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and Depression.
Anyways, thought this would be fun to share with you guys, and to serve as a constant reminder never to piss off a witch.

History
I recently reread George Orwell’s animal farm for the first time in a while, and I found some interesting things that I don’t think I picked up on when I was being forced to read it.
One thing that struck me as being something that people on DART might find interesting, is the transformation of the Pigs from egalitarian to the oppressors. The Pigs were the major orchestrators of the revolution, but because they are far smarter than the other animals, they take control and become just the same as the humans before.
Being on DART has made me reflect on the role of smart people in society, and I noticed how Orwell also uses this book to convey a message to the smart people of the world. Obviously the Pigs were immoral in becoming the rulers seeing how they horribly oppressed the other animals, but I don’t think the message was that an Geniocracy is impossible. I think he was trying to tell us that if the smart people of the world inherently have a right to rule, then it must also come with a duty to rule fairly and equally.
I just thought that this was pretty interesting and I thought I would share it with you all.

WyIted did this kind of thing for the last one, but since he’s not here anymore, I figured it might be fun for me to try it.
I’ll be watching most of it, but I might have to break in the middle for dinner.
If anyone else wants to watch it live, you can use this thread to talk about it. I’ll try to post a few times throughout.

Town Wins!
So clearly my Mod skills still need a bit of work, but at least I'm improving. This was definitely better than BOTW, or god forbid, Lord of the Rings. Even though town won, I think this was a scum sided game. The Mafia just got really unlucky with that randomizer hit on Joebob, otherwise they could have won pretty easily. Kudos to Whiteflame for surviving much longer than I thought possible in that scenario.
Anyways, I hope you all had at least some fun. Scum deserved to win, but I guess that's how the Randomizer role works anyways.
Town:
AustinL0926 - You are the Overly Friendly kid. This kid talks so much and seems like they want to be friends with everyone, even if that person hates them. It can get very annoying at times. Thus, you are the Friendly Neighbor. Each NP you can choose a player and they will get a message Mod Confirming you as Town. You win with the Town.
WyIted - You are the Quiet Kid! Normally, you just sit in the back of the class and say nothing to nobody. Recently there have been a lot of memes on the internet that make the joke that this kid is a school shooter in disguise, so you are a 1x Vigilante. You win with the Town.
Ilikepie5 - You are the Class President. I'll be honest, there isn't much of a stereotype for this kind of middle schooler, I was just running out of Ideas. I thought about making you a king but thought that might be a bit too much, so you are the Governor. Once per game, at the end of a DP, or anytime throughout it, you may PM me and use your ability. If you do so, the Lynch and the end of the DP will be changed to a No-Lynch. You win with the Town.
Barney - You are the Snitch! This middle school stereotype is famous for telling the teacher when anyone breaks the rules, even when it is none of their business. You are also one of the most nosy kids in the whole school, so you are a new role I created called "The Snitch", (shocking, I know). You are a 1x affiliation cop, but your results, and the role/character/and night actions of your target will also be shared with the Mafia. You win with the town.
Casey_Risk - You are the Nerd! This middle school stereotype is famous for being very smart, and also sometimes very annoying. You constantly but in on other people's conversations to correct them with your famous catchphrase, "Well Actually...". Many people dislike you because of this, and so you are the Miller. You win with the town.
CatholicApologetics - You are the Class Bully. You are the biggest kid in the class and thus can use your force to get the other kids to do what you want. As a result of this, all the other kids are afraid of you, and won't go near you. Thus, you are a Paranoid Gun Owner, minus the mafia. If anybody tries to visit you throughout the night, they will be killed, unless they are the Mafia. You win with the Town.
Owen_T - You are the Popular kid! You hold much sway over all the other kids in your school. If anyone wants to be cool, they have to copy you or be your friend, so you have lots of power. Thus, you are the Vote Thief. During the DP, you can influence somebody else with your popularity and get them to change their vote to whoever you are voting for. This action can be used as many times as you want during the DP, or doesn't have to be used at all, but can only be used on one person at a time. You win with the Town.
Scum:
Joebob - You are stress! One of the ultimate challenges of middle school, whether it's lots of assignments or challenges finding friends, stress can be one of the total levelers of middle schoolers. You can make them so stressed that they can't do anything right. Thus, you are a randomizer. Each NP you choose someone and their action will be redirected to somebody random. You win with the Mafia.
Whiteflame - You are Boredom. One of the ultimate challenges of middle school is surviving the ultimate boredom of some classes. You can visit one member of the town and put them to sleep with boredom. Thus, you are the Silencer. During the NP you choose someone, and during the next DP that person cannot post unless it is to VTL someone. You win with the Mafia.

Basic Mafia rules apply. If you have any specific questions, you can always PM me. DPs are 72 hours and NPs are 24. This DP ends at 12:00 August 15.
Tag me if you need a vote count or a time check.
Also remember, Scum knows all the characters in the game, but not the roles or who has them.

I won’t be giving much more information on the topic just because that might give away the theme split early on. You’ll figure it out pretty quickly though.
Basic Mafia rules apply, if it seems like cheating, it probably is, but check with me first.
One new thing I’m trying, Scum will know what characters are in the game, but will not know their corresponding roles or who got each one.

A lot of the things being argued over in this site are very serious and meaningful, but that’s boring.
I’m tired of debating things that actually matter, so for this one, is the ocean a soup?
This has been a long standing debate I’ve had with my friends.
They say it is a soup, because it fits the basic dictionary definition of a soup. It has meat, vegetables, and liquid. It has all of the components, and so it is.
If find this very short-sighted. Sure, it fits the basic definition, but there are many qualities a soup has that the ocean does not. They aren’t included in the normal definition because they go without saying.
Obviously, a soup is a man made object that is made for the express purpose of being eaten. Its entire job is to be eaten, and the ocean cannot be eaten. If you did, you would die.
Secondly, words don’t derive their meaning from arbitrary dictionary definitions, they get meaning from how we colloquially use them. Dictionaries do their best to summarize that, but they are not perfect.
If I was at a restaurant and ordered a soup, and was presented with the ocean, I would be pretty pissed. No one ever uses the word soup to describe the ocean, and so the ocean is not a soup.
What do you think though?

I know that there is 0 chance that these pass, but in theory, are you in support of them or not?
This is probably going to fall along ideological lines here, it just in case, I’m kinda curious.
I like them. I think they will help prevent this super-majority that Trump has made from happening again with either side.

In short, If I believed that there was an all powerful being that created absolute moral truths, then I would do exactly as the being said to the best of my ability.
This is why I don’t understand Christian churches that accept gay people and treat women as equals. Not that those are bad things, but if you believe that the Bible is the word of god, then you should follow its teachings.
I hate Christian’s who demean women and gays, but I respect them more than I do liberal Christians.

In case you haven’t heard yet he picked Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio. I don’t have much of an opinion on this, but I thought some people might. Honestly, I have barely heard of this guy before.

I hear a lot of people saying that he was stopping a dictator, and that he was a patriot.
I’ll remind you, that is exactly what republicans are saying about the January 6th rioters.
You are not different just because “I’m right”.
We are no better than them if we do this stuff and say it was to protect democracy.
If anything, this should be a wake-up call about how much we have invested in this election, and how much we have blown things way out of proportion.

I just don’t really get it. Why do some people have a problem with other people changing their gender, or being gay? It’s not your business. I’m genuinely curious if there is a half-decent explanation other than just “they’re retarded”.

I'm not really sure if this is the right forum for this topic, but I couldn't really find a better one.
The thing that you have to understand is that IQ is not a perfect measure of intelligence. It mostly measures your brain's ability to recognize patterns, which is synonymous with intelligence in some cases, but it is still very imperfect.
It is really hard to actually quantify intelligence, since it is such a vague term when you really think about it. If someone was really good at math, like NASA level good, you would say they are smart. But you could also say Napoleon, or other military generals were smart. You're using the same metric to evaluate two completely different things.
People have to remember, IQ is not Intelligence. It's the best we have so far, and it is applicable in some scenarios, but you have to remember that it is very imperfect.

So many people are turned away from Biden because of his age, but first of all, Trump is only 3 years younger! So why not say the same about him? Also, there is much more evidence that Trump has dementia than Biden does. But to set even that aside, It's stupid to measure a president's worth based on their age, especially in this scenario. We have seen both candidates in the white house, so none of this is speculative. Biden has proven that he can do the job, and that is all that really matters. Sure, you could say his age might have an effect on his policies, but he has proven that it doesn't. You can only really make this argument against a president who hasn't served, and both candidates have. We should judge a president based on his policies, and the work they did. Nothing else.

Scum Wins!
To speak frankly, WOW! I did not see that one coming. I thought that I had screwed the mafia over in the first DP when Best.Korea Basically solved the game. Unfortunate for the town, Korea started overthinking themselves too much.
Korea realized that if the mafia hadn’t been given fake claims that were among the main 6 characters, you could narrow it down to 3 possibilities. I was freaking out, because one of those three was easily confirmable, and I was sure that I had screwed up bad.
I wasn’t planning on giving the mafia fake char-claims, but seeing the dire straights I was in, I thought it only fair. I figured that they would still have to come up with the fitting roles. I had wanted to put either, Impa, Purah, or Robbie in the game, but couldn’t think up good roles, so I gave scum the opportunity to claim those ones. Also, I thought it was probable that they would have already thought to do that, seeing as they knew some roles already, and these three were the only ones left to claim based on what scum knew by then.
It was some really impressive playing on the part of scum, and this one is definitely going down in the history books. Anyways, I’ll just give you all the play by play with some added comments real quick.
Town:
* Joebob- You are Link, Knight protector of Zelda, and the one with the Master sword. You serve your kingdom with unmatched loyalty. When you are almost defeated you are sealed away to heal for 100 years and you come back to face Ganon. You are a Soldier, and are immune to one Mafia kill. You win with the town.
* Barney - You are Zelda, Princess of Hyrule, and the one vested with the power of the goddess Hylia, if only you could unlock your sacred sealing power. So you are a 1x Mafia roleblocker, sort of. Once per game, you can visit two players, and if one of them is mafia, their action is roleblocked. If both are mafia, the. The lethal action is blocked. If none are mafia, nothing gets blocked, but you are not told if your action was successful or not. You win with the town.
* Whiteflame - You are Daruk, Champion of the Gorons. You have the ability to protect yourself and others with a phantom shield. So you are a 100% succes bodyguard, sort of. You can choose to use your ability any NP, and if you do, the mafias kill is redirected on to you. You win with the town
* Best.Korea - You are Mipha, Champion of the Zora. You are gifted with ability to heal any wounds. Thus you are the 2x doctor. Two nights per game you choose one person, and they are immune to any Mafia lethal actions that night. You win with the town.
* Casey_Risk - You are Urbosa, Champion of the Gerudo, and a great fighter. You can also be a bit of a loose canon, and so you are a granny. If anyone visits you throughout the night, they automatically are killed. You win with the town. Tip: I recommend claiming early unless you want to cause total havoc
* Earth - You are Revali, champion of the Rito. Rito are a race of birdlike people who can fly. You also have a keen sense of sight, so you are a 2x Cop. Two nights per game you visit one player and I will tell you if they are guilty or not. You win with the town.
* Lunatic - You are King Roham, ruler of Hyrule. That’s pretty self explanatory I think. You are obviously the King, so once per game, you can throw caution to the wind and disregard all VTL’s to Lynch one person of your choosing. You win with the town.
Mafia
* Austin - You are Ganon, the reincarnation of Ganondorf, and master of the dark arts. You appear at a random time throughout the game, and catch everyone by surprise. Thus you are a 1x Total Role Blocker. On one night per game, you choose to activate your role, and then everyone in the game gets roleblocked. You win with the Mafia, and your fellow mafia man is Savant who’s character is Master Koga (It was so funny watching you guys try to figure out why so many people got roleblocked! You were like chickens with their heads cut off)
* Savant - You are Master Koga, the Leader of the Yiga Clan, and master of disguise. You can change your appearance at will, and use this power to impersonate people. Thus, you are the Stalker. Each night you visit one person and you will find their role and character by impersonating someone close to them. You may also use this power twice at the beginning of the game, as to inform your kills and claims. You win with the Mafia, and your fellow mafia man is Austin whose Character is Ganon. (I really liked the eye of Sauron mechanic from the last game, so I decided to keep it, and honestly, I think it worked pretty well, and could be even better with some tweaking)
DP 1 Actions:
Savant: Role/Char Cop on Whiteflame and Barney
NP 1 Actions:
Savant: Role/Char Cop on Korea
Austin: Total Roleblock and NK Earth
Best.Korea: Protect Earth
Earth: Cop on Joebob
Whiteflame: Used Action
DP 2:
Lunatic: Used Action
NP 2:
Savant: Role/Char Cop Joebob
Austin: NK Whiteflame
Whiteflame: Used Role
Anyways, thanks for putting up with me for being a first time mod. I hope that everyone had fun, and that I wasn’t so bad that I’m banned from modding forever.

Alright, take two, here we go. Once again, there are NO VANILLAS, and two Mafia.
Same thing, I think you guys are all pretty clear on the rules by now, so just know, if it seems like cheating, it probably is. I'm instituting a strict, "Don't be a Jerk" policy, and violators will be eternally shamed. If you need any more clarification, I'm always available for a PM. Also, tag me if you want a time check or a vote count.

All roles are randomly assigned, so don't get mad at me if something you don't like come out, and don't base your lynches on who you think I would pick.
With 9 remaining it takes 5 votes to Lynch. Dp's are 72 hours, and NP's are 24, unless you guys get done faster. This one ends at 8:00 June 4 PDT. I know the world runs on EDT, but I'm the mod, so I'm making you all have a headache trying to figure out what time It is, not me.
let the games begin (again)!

Ive been atheist for a while now, but I’m just realizing that I haven’t really heard both sides of the argument. No disrespect to Alex O’Connor, but I feel like sometimes the sources I’m getting this stuff from can be a little one-sided, and what better place to hear the other side, than right here?

"No slave or other person held to service or labor in any State or Territory of the Confederate States, under the laws thereof, escaping or lawfully carried into another, shall, in consequence of any law or regulation therein, be discharged from such service or labor; but shall be delivered up on claim of the party to whom such slave belongs,. or to whom such service or labor may be due"
I Quote from Confederate Vice President Alexander Stevens,
"Our new Government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and moral condition."
