Lynched DP2:

Lynched DP3:
Pie - Gol Transportes Aéreos Flight 1907 – Flipless 2-shot Universal Godfather
Deaths: 154
Terminal Outcome: Catastrophic in-flight loss of control due to wing damage leading to flat spin and ground collision (Gol Airlines), Successful emergency landing (Embraer)
Probable cause: Error by Air Traffic Control leading to intersecting flight paths between two flights, compounded by a failure of a private flight to use their Traffic Collision Avoidance System
Summary: On September 29, 2006, a private Embraer flight and Gol Transportes Aéreos Flight 1907 were flying over a remote section of the Amazonian rainforest. Though ATC should have contacted pilots in order to make sure sufficient distance was maintainted between them, they failed to do so and allowed the Embraer’s flight path to intersect that of the Gol Flight. Though the Embraer’s automatic Traffic Collision Avoidance System should have told them to pull up, avoiding a collision, it was disabled for unknown reasons (although data logs implied that the captain had intentionally done so).
The Embraer’s wingtip sliced through a large portion of the Gol Flight’s wing. The Gol Flight spiraled out of control and crashed into the ground with no survivors. Meanwhile, the Embraer, though heavily damaged, managed to make a successful emergency landing.
The accident became one of the most controversial in the history of aviation due to the alleged negligence by the pilots of the Embraer flight. Ultimately, two conflicting reports were issued; one by America’s National Transportation Safety Board, blaming ATC, another by Brazil’s CENIPA, blaming the Embraer pilots as well as ATC.
An arrest warrant was issued for the Embraer pilots, who fled to America to avoid extradition, where they remain today. Many of the victims’ families believe they have escaped justice, while they maintain their innocence as yet another victim of tragic circumstances.
Role:
Because the probable cause of the accident was never conclusively determined (or rather, agreed on) by investigators, you are flipless; if you ever die, your alignment and role will not be revealed.
In addition, because many people believe that the pilots managed to escape the legal consequences of their own negligence, you are a 2-shot Universal Godfather. The first two times you are investigated, you will investigate as if you were a Vanilla Townie. In case of more of than one investigation, the more incriminating one will be neutralized.
Legacy: As a consequence of this accident, training and conditions for air traffic controllers, who play crucial roles in aviation safety but are often underpaid and undertrained, was improved around the world. In addition, training to emphasize the important of paying attention to TCAS is now standardized for all pilots.
Legacy role: Because of this improved training, if you ever die, then the following night your partner’s abilities and factional kill will be unstoppable.
Killed NP3:
Lunatic - Helios Airways Flight 522 – Delayed Ascetic Bleeder, Town
Earth - Uberlingen Disaster – Universal Miller, Town
Lynched DP4:
Cerulean - Tenerife Airport Disaster – N2 Actress Role Tampering JOAT [Bus Driver, Janitor, Redirector, Deflector] - Mafia
Deaths: 583
Terminal Outcome: In-flight stall and catastrophic ground collision (KLM), Catastrophic impact and post-crash fire (Pan Am)
Probable cause: Poor communication between two planes preparing for takeoff and air traffic control, leading to an attempted takeoff on an occupied runway
Summary: On March 27, 1977, KLM Flight 4805 and Pan Am Flight 1736 were preparing for takeoff at Los Rodeos Airport, in Tenerife. Both takeoffs were delayed due to proximate causes. The captain of the KLM Flight ultimately misinterpreted an order to “prepare for takeoff” as permission to take off, and attempted to take off on an occupied runway over the objections of his copilots. Dense fog prevented the pilots from spotting the Pan Am Flight still on the runaway, and collision avoidance maneuvers were initiated too late to stop the accident.
The KLM Flight attempted to avoid the Pan Am Flight by taking off, but had insufficient airspeed, leading to an in-flight stall and ground collision with no survivors. The Pan Am Flight was clipped by the KLM as it attempted to take off, leading to an explosion of the full fuel tanks. Out of 396 on board the Pan Am, 61 survived.
Role:
Because the accident was caused by confusion and ambiguity in communication, you are the Role Tampering JOAT with the following abilities (you may use one per night [and the same one more than once])
Bus Driver [cannot self-target]: Choose two players. Any actions performed on the first player will be redirect to the second, and vice versa.
Janitor: If you perform the factional kill successfully while using this ability, then the role PM of the person killed will not be revealed on death.
Redirector: Choose two players. Any actions performed BY the first player will be redirected to the second player.
Deflector: Choose two players. Any actions performed ON the first player will be redirected to the second player.
In addition, because the investigation was hampered by the sheer complexity, scale, and desire by KLM Airlines to avoid blame for the accident, you are the N2 Actress. On Night 2, you may target another player. If investigated, you will investigate as that role; on death, you will flip as that role.
Legacy: In order to prevent such accidents from occurring again, aviation instructors teach the importance of Crew Resource Management, which involves splitting responsibilities between different crew members to prevent any one mistake from spiraling out of control.
Legacy role: Because of this improved communication, if you ever die, then your partner will be given the chance to use one of your unused abilities the following night.
Survived in Endgame:
whiteflame - Pan Am Flight 103 – Alignment Investigative JOAT [Cop, Parity Cop, Dreamer] - Town
Deaths: 270 (including 11 ground fatalities)
Terminal outcome: Catastrophic in-flight breakup
Probable cause: Deliberate terrorist attack with explosive device
Summary: On December 21, 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 took off from Frankfurt on its way to Detroit.
Unbeknownst to all on board, a radical terrorist group had planted a bomb in the luggage of the plane. Roughly 1 hour after the flight took off, the bomb detonated, disintegrating the aircraft in midair with no survivors. Large pieces of debris fell on the small town of Lockerbie in Scotland, killing 11 on the ground.
The investigation was aided by a stroke of luck; the bomb had actually exploded early due to a delay in flight departure – otherwise, it would have exploded over the ocean, destroying virtually all evidence relative to the forensic standards of the time.
Following the accident, a protracted and expensive investigation was jointly conducted between several countries involved – ultimately, two Libyan nationals were prosecuted and sentenced for the bombing, though many believed the true masterminds had gotten away.
Role: Because the accident was notable for the investigation and fight for justice, rather than the actual accident itself, you are the Alignment Investigative JOAT. You have the following abilities, each of which you can use one night per game:
-Cop: investigate a player to determine their alignment
-Parity cop: choose two players: learn whether they have the same alignment.
-Dreamer: choose three players: learn how many of the group are scum.
Legacy:
Though all those on board were killed, the fight for justice was relentless and never-ending. The investigation faced dead ends at almost every turn, but eventually managed to break through and find the perpetrators. In addition, airport security was improved so that luggage was more thoroughly screened for dangerous devices.
Legacy role:
Because of this, if you ever die on a night with an investigation, your investigative results will be released publicly the next day.
Banana - Egypt Air Flight 990 – Roleblocker - Town
Deaths: 217
Terminal outcome: High speed dive into catastrophic collision
Probable cause: Disputed – Pilot suicide (NTSB), Mechanical failure of pitch control surfaces (ECAA)
Summary: On October 31, 1999, EgyptAir Flight 990 began a routine flight from Los Angeles to Cairo. Shortly after takeoff, it went into a steep vertical dive and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean with no survivors.
The investigation was jointly led by America’s National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Egypt’s Egypt Civil Aviation Agency (ECAA).
The NTSB ultimately concluded that the first officer had deliberately pitched the aircraft into a steep dive that became unrecoverable in light of his continued inputs – they pointed out strong evidence for this. First, the flight recorder repeatedly recorded the first officer saying “I rely on God” over and over as the flight tumbled out of control. Second, the elevator controls (a hydraulic system that controls the vertical angle of the aircraft) was found in a “split condition”, indicating that there had been simultaneous downward and upward inputs.
The ECAA disagreed. As the investigation continued, they became increasingly worried about the NTSB’s direction of investigation and attempted to lodge several protests. They claimed that there was substantial mechanical evidence showing that the elevator had malfunctioned and that the first officer had in fact been trying to save the plane. Several simulations as well as forensic studies of the recovered plane components failed to support this.
The ECAA would ultimately back off from the investigation and heavily criticize the official NTSB report.
Role: Because the cause of the accident appeared to be fairly obvious, yet the ECAA tried to block the NTSB from finding this probable cause, you are the Roleblocker. Each night, you may target another player – assuming no interference with your actions, any actions they take will fail.
Legacy:
Though pilot suicide is a rare event, it remains a spectre in the minds of all air accident investigators – Germanwings Flight 9525 is another contemporary example. Little can be done about this possibility other than to keep it in mind.
Legacy role:
Because of this paradox of obviousness yet inevitability, you have a 1-shot roleblock you can still use after death.

Killed NP3:
Lunatic - Helios Airways Flight 522 – Delayed Ascetic Bleeder, Town
Deaths: 121
Terminal outcome: Uncontrolled flight into terrain due to fuel exhaustion and loss of manual control
Probable cause: Pilot incapacitation due to hypoxia, effected by a chain of failures leading to improper pressurization of the main cabin
Summary: On August 14, 2005, Helios Airways Flight 522 began a routine takeoff. However, its cabin pressurization system was improperly set due to a maintenance error, preventing it from properly pressurizing as it gained altitude.
Though the pilots were aware that something was wrong, they were unaware what exactly had happened, and interpreted the warning lights as indicating a faulty air conditioning system. Before they could diagnose the problem, they lost consciousness due to hypoxia. Investigators believe that while oxygen masks were successfully deployed, they came too late to make a difference.
The doomed plane continued flying on autopilot for about 3 hours, but could not land. Eventually, it ran out of fuel and crashed into the side of a mountain with no survivors.
Role:
Because the actual deaths of all on board the aircraft occured long after their fate became apparent, you are the Delayed Ascetic Bleeder.
If a non-lethal action is performed on you, it will fail as if roleblocked and will only take effect the next night.
If a lethal action is performed on you, you will be informed of this and will survive for another day and night phase before dying.
Legacy:
Widely considered a freak accident caused by a truly unfortunate chain of events, this tragedy nevertheless led to important changes in cockpit design. With planes getting safer and safer, pilots often become the limiting factor – in this case, the plane recognized what was wrong, but the pilots failed to correctly interpret it. Today, improved cockpit design and training aims to prevent similar accidents from occuring again.
Legacy role:
Because of this improved clarity, if you ever die, you may immediately choose to select a dead player; if their role PM is hidden or false, it will be revealed as the correct one immediately.
Earth - Uberlingen Disaster – Universal Miller, Town
Deaths: 71
Terminal outcome: Catastrophic in-flight breakup due to mid-air collision
Probable cause: Ambiguous ATC instructions compounded by flawed collision avoidance procedures
Summary: On July 1, 2002, a passenger flight, Bashkirian Airlines Flight 2937, and a commercial cargo flight, DHL Flight 611, were flying near the Swiss border with Russia in opposite directions.
Though ordinary right-of-way procedures should have had both aircraft turn right, the DHL flight requested to continue on course in order to save fuel, a standard procedure. This was approved by the ATC controller on duty, Peter Nielsen. Against procedure, his company had made him cover a section of airspace that should have been handled by at least two traffic controllers, diverting his attention and focus.
Nielsen realized the danger less than 1 minute before a potential collision, and told Flight 2937 to pull up. However, this conflicted with the pilots’ automated Traffic Control Avoidance System, which recognizes other flights in the area and was telling them to pull down.
Flight 2937 listened to Nielsen and pulled up, while the DHL flight, listening to their own TCAS, also pulled up. They collided and broke up in mid-air with no survivors.
2 years after the accident, Nielsen was murdered in front of his home by a distraught family member of one of the victims. His murderer would be released after less than four years in prison.
Role: Because the air traffic controller was blamed for the accident despite the wide variety of factors that ultimately contributed to the tragedy, you are the Universal Miller. If you are ever investigated, you will investigate as if you were a mafia carrying the night kill; for example, a Cop would investigate you as “guilty”, while a Tracker would investigate you as visiting the player who was NKed.
Legacy:
This accident led to new laws regulating how much work air traffic controllers could be allowed to take by their company. In addition, pilots received training to always listen to TCAS, even in priority over ATC orders.
Legacy role:
Despite the horrific accident and aftermath, this accident was one of the most impactful in terms of preventing future ones like it. As such, you are the 1-shot Angel: the night phase after you die, you may choose one player to be protected from an lethal actions that night.

"It is over. It has happened." - Anonymous ATC, upon seeing El Al Flight 1862 disappear from radar. 4 on board and 39 on ground would be killed after the plane lost control and crashed into an apartment complex.

Lynched DP1:
Owen - Air France Flight 447 - Rolestopper-Inventor, Town
Deaths: 228
Terminal outcome: In-flight stall condition leading to catastrophic collision
Probable cause: Loss of airspeed due to pilot error in stall recovery procedure
Summary: On June 1, 2009, Air France 447 took off from Rio de Janeiro to France.
En route, it faced a heavy storm, which the pilots elected not to divert around – an accepted course of action, if not a recommended one.
Heavy icing intefered with the aircraft’s pitot tubes, a type of instrument which measures airspeed; this caused false readings, making the autopilot disconnect. All this was still acceptable so long as the crew responded properly.
However, the crew didn’t realize the autopilot had disconnected – as this happened, the airplane gradually lost airspeed until it no longer had enough forward momentum to generate lift and maintain level flight.
It thus entered what is known as a “stall condition” - which can be easily recovered from by pushing the aircraft into a dive to gain airspeed, followed by leveling off again. The inexperienced co-pilot, Bonin, reacted incorrectly – by pulling the aircraft up, which actually lost airspeed.
The aircraft descended at over 10,000 feet per minute from its cruise altitude of 36000 feet; Bonin continued pulling the stick up the entire time, preventing recovery, though he could have still done so at an altitude as low as 3000 feet. There were no survivors upon the inevitable collision.
Role:
Because of the first officer did something unimaginably dumb that is still taught as a case study in aviation textbooks today, you too get to pass on your wisdom to others in the form of stopping such an accident from happening again. Thus, you are a Rolestopper-Inventor.
Each night, you may give someone a x1 Rolestopper. On subsequent nights, they may use that invention on anyone. The rolestopper prevents a targeted player from being affected by any actions for that night, lethal or non-lethal.
Legacy:
Today, stall recovery procedures are a core part of aviation training, and no similar accidents have occurred since. Nevertheless, it emphasizes that the biggest flaws in aviation safety are still pilots, not technology.
Legacy role:
Because of this increased focus on pilot training over technological rigor, after you die, you may choose to send a message of up to 200 characters to any person you gave an invention to. You will give this message to me and I will send it to them.

Welcome to Mayday Mafia! We hope you have a safe flight.
Rules:
1. Do not copy-paste your role PM or pretend to do so.
2. Do not edit or delete posts.
3. Do not communicate outside of the thread or approved chats (cryptography counts).
4. Respect the site rules. Some banter is fine, but don't derail things with personal attacks.
5. Follow the spirit of the rules and the game.
6. Don't speculate on the timings or structure of the PMs.
Basic Setup Info:
1. The setup is role madness - there are no VTs.
2. Some roles are standardized, some aren't.
3. Majority voting is in effect.
4. 72 hour DP, 24 hour NP.
5. Setup is standard 2v7.
6. This *should* be balanced. I reviewed it with a friend who's an experienced designer.
Important Setup Info:
1. There is a themesplit. Mafia have not been given fakeclaims, but they will be given two chances to ask if a plane accident is already in the game.
2. Each player's role has two parts - a regular role, and a legacy role. The legacy role will activate on death if and only if that player has met an activity requirement - 25 posts in the previous day phase.
3. There is at least one role in the game which may lead to false investigative results.
4. There is at least one role in the game which may lead to false or missing role flips.
5. At the end of each day, I will ask an investigative question about what happened (e.g. "how many scum players were on the wagon?"). Each player will publicly submit an answer. Based on the success rate of the answers, I will give pre-determined information about the setup.
Questions?
I will not answer questions about roles other than your own, or flipped ones.
I will only answer questions via PM.

"Actually, these conditions don't look very good at all, do they?" - Captain of Air New Zealand Flight 901, moments before crashing into the side of a mountain
Welcome to Mayday Mafia! I've long been fascinated with air accident investigation (morbid, I know). In some ways, it's a microcosm of all the things that make us human - ingenuity, heroism, stupidity, and farce. I hope you come away from this game having fun and having learned something about one of the most wild themes run in this forum in quite a while.
This game will have a special additional mechanic: upon a player's death, a post-accident report will be conducted to determine the cause of the accident. This information can potentially give leads on the mafia, but only if used correctly. More information on this will be revealed in-game.
Game will start when filled. Standard rules apply.

Welcome to UPick Mafia! I put a lot of time, effort, and passion into this game, so I really hope it works out well.
Rules:
6. I did not send all the role PMs at the same time, and they don't all have the exact same format. Do not discuss the timing or precise structure of your role PM.
Also, a modkill on town will end the DP immediately. Don't try it.
Setup Info:
1. The setup is role madness - all players have at least one custom ability.
2. Many of the roles have been custom-made by mishmashing various other roles and mechanics.
3. Majority voting is in effect.
4. 72 hour DP, 24 hour NP.
5. Setup is standard 2v7.
6. I reviewed this setup with two of my mafia-playing friends. One of them said it was townsided, the other said it was scumsided, so I'm going to call it balanced :D
Questions?
I will not answer questions in-thread.
If you have a question, PM me. I will only answer questions about your own role or a flipped role.

I have a few mafia theme ideas floating around, figured I'd let the players choose this time (I think this used to be more common on DART but sadly the tradition has been lost).
When you sign up, just choose whichever game you're most interested in playing. Plurality vote.
1. OG Dart Players Mafia
Game themed around old mafia players who used to play here but have since retired or quit. Probably the most traditional one out of the bunch, just a normal thematic game with a few twists.
2. Somewhat Bastard Mafia
For those who don't know, a bastard game is pretty much any game that messes with the players for fun (e.g. ridiculous voting mechanics).
When it's done right, a bastard game is fun for everyone. When it's done wrong, the players blacklist the mod afterwards. I'll try to make my game the former option :D
3. UPick Mafia
This type of mafia is really fun and I've seen it on some other sites. Basically, each player, before the game starts, sends in their "pick" to the moderator - this pick can be anything (e.g. "Don Corleone", "the concept of being wrong", "335"). I then create a custom role from these picks.

MAFIA WINS!
Vader - You are Anatoly Karpov! You are a former World Champion, and an incredibly strong one at that. You are known for your unique style called “prophylaxis”, which involves predicting the other player’s plans and then preventing them. In addition, you are still widely admired in the chess world despite being a Putin bootlicker. Thus, you are the Godfather Predictive Role Thief. If you are investigated by a cop, you will be investigated as innocent. Each night, you may choose two players. If either of these players are lynched the next day, then you will steal the remaining player’s role for the night, allowing you to use it and blocking them from using it. You win with the mafia.
Lunatic - You are Magnus Carlsen! You are widely considered to be one of the greatest world champions of all time. You have a powerful, universal style as well as incredible memory and calculation skills. In addition, you are especially strong in the endgame (the last phase of a chess game). Thus, you are the Progressive Super-JOAT. You can use as many abilities each night as the current night number: N1 = 1 ability, N2 = 2 abilities, N3 = 3 abilities, N4 and above = 4 abilities.
You can use the same ability on multiple nights, but you cannot choose two abilities from the same list on the same night.
List 1: Lawyer (innocent when guilty), Framer (guilty when innocent), Tailor (flip inv results)
List 2: Scout (track who a player visits), Lookout (watch who visited a player), Voyeur (see what actions were performed on a player)
List 3: Strongman (kill cannot be stopped by protective roles), Ninja (kill can’t be seen by watchers/trackers), Strengthened (kill cannot be roleblocked)
List 4: Redirector (redirect Player A’s action to Player B), Bus Driver (redirect actions performed on Player A to Player B, and vice versa), Deflector (redirect actions performed on Player A to player B)
You win with the mafia.
Pie - You are lichess.org! You are a free online chess server run by a self-described communist programmer. Everybody loves you. Due to your nonprofit nature, you rely entirely on donations for funding. Thus, you are the Donation-Dependent Innocent Child. Each DAY, you may select a player to solicit for donations. You must PM a choice to me before the flip (you can change your choice as many times as you want before then). As a day action, this will not interact with any night actions performed by other players. The following night, that player will receive the following PM:
“A player has asked you for a small donation. If you choose to donate, you will forfeit any night actions as if roleblocked. Do you choose to donate?”
You will be informed on whether you successfully received a donation. Once you receive two donations, you will be revealed as the Innocent Child.
You win with the town.
Joebob- You are algebraic notation! You’re a type of encoding system used to record the moves of chess games so that they can be reviewed, watched, and shared even after the game ends. This recording system involves tracking a piece to a square it moves to using an intricate coordinate grid. Thus, you are the Flipped Tracker. Each night, you can track a player, which will record which players they visited, if any. If/when you die, this notation sheet will be revealed with your flip. You win with the town.
Barney - You are the pin! You are a type of tactic – a pattern involving a certain configuration of pieces. It occurs when a less valuable piece cannot easily move due to that exposing a more valuable piece to attack. Thus, you are the Conditional Roleblocker. Each night, you may choose a “minor player” and a “major player”. If the minor player does not move, nothing will happen. If the minor player moves, then you will follow the minor player (finding out who received a visit from them that night), and roleblock the major player (preventing them from carrying out any night actions). You win with the town.
Whiteflame - You are the draw offer! The draw offer is a unique aspect of chess. A player can offer a draw to their opponent in any position, which can either be accepted or declined. A draw offer is often used to gain a tactical advantage. Thus, you are the Offering Gladiator. Once per game, you can “offer a draw” to another player during a day phase (this is done by saying [I offer a draw to (player)] and tagging me). I will then post the following message:
“whiteflame has offered a draw to [Player]! [Player] can choose to either accept or decline the draw offer. If [Player] accepts, then [Player] will forfeit his night action as if roleblocked, while whiteflame will be protected for the night. If [Player] declines, then votes will be reset and only whiteflame and [Player] will be votable for the rest of the day phase.”
You win with the town.
Earth - You are Stockfish! You are the strongest chess engine in the world – a type of program that analyzes a chess position and then calculates the best continuation. While most players use you for learning and studying, some players use you to cheat. At the end of the day, you’re a tool that can be used for good or for evil. Thus, you are the Controllable Cop. Each DAY, you may select a player to use you. You must PM a choice to me before the flip (you can change your choice as many times as you want before then). As a day action, this will not interact with any night actions performed by other players.
During the night, this player will receive the following message:
“You have been given the opportunity to use a chess engine to find the best move. You may input the name of a player and receive their alignment. If you choose to use it, then you will forfeit any night actions as if roleblocked. Do you accept?”
You will not be informed on whether an investigation was carried out, or the result/target of the investigation.
You win with the town.
Moozer - You are castling! This is a special move that allows two pieces – the king and a rook - to move in a single turn. This typically helps protect the king and activate the rook. It can only be done twice per game (once by each player). Thus, you are the two-shot Doctor-Strengthener. Two nights per game, you may select one player as a “king” and another player as a “rook.” The “king” will be protected from any lethal night actions, while the “rook” will have any active actions be unable to be tampered with. You win with the town.
Savant - You are the Pawn! The pawn is the least powerful piece in chess, capable only of moving one square at a time. Beginners tend not to value pawns very much, which is a shame. Pawns have a special ability to promote to a queen (the strongest piece) when they reach the final row of the board. Thus, you are the Miller Soldier. If you are investigated by a cop, you will be investigated as guilty. If at any point you are the last surviving town member, then town will automatically win the game. You win with the town.

The debate season is winding down, and so is school... so I figured I'd host a fun mafia game.
Standard rules, there will be a themesplit, and it will be role madness. I have a few creative mechanics I've been wanting to use for a while. Hoping for 9 players.

Well, this was one heck of a game - and it had quite a bit. I'll go through the setup, theme, night actions, and then my personal analysis.
Setup:
Mafia Faction 1:
FAKECLAIMS: Tantrum
FAKECLAIMS: Jailkeeper, Miller
ijb1 - You are Hydra! You are considered the best flipper bot in Battlebots, and are capable of launching opposing bots up to 15 feet in the air. You carefully choose your opportunities before you strike. Because of this, you are the Odd-Night Stalker. You may target one player per odd night to learn their role, but not alignment, flavor, or modifiers. You may also perform a factional kill on even nights ONLY on the player that you personally stalked the previous night. You win with your mafia faction.
Once the other mafia faction is eliminated:
You may stalk on any night. You may perform the factional kill on any night on any player. However, you cannot do both on the same night.
Wylted - You are Fusion! You have two powerful weapons and an unfortunate tendency to catch on fire after big hits. You’re also popular for your entertaining fights. As such, you are the 1-shot Godfather JOAT. You will investigate as innocent to cops. You may use one of the following abilities once per game:
-Ninja (don’t show up on investigative reports)
-Strongman (can’t be protected against)
-Roleblocker (target can’t perform night actions)
On odd nights, you may visit a player. You may perform a factional kill on even nights ONLY on the player that you personally visited the previous night.
Once the other mafia faction is eliminated:
You may perform the factional kill on any night on any player.
Mafia Faction 2:
FAKECLAIMS: HUGE
FAKECLAIMS: Motivator, Hider
whiteflame - You are Whiplash! You are known for being one of the greatest control bots, being able to ram, and generally bully opposing bots to the point where they can barely land a hit on you. Once you’ve taken disabled the opposing bot, you flip them over to knock them out. You are an Even-Night Roleblocker. You may target one player per non-killing night to block active actions (but not factional kills). You may also perform a factional kill ONLY on the player that you personally roleblocked the previous night. You win with your mafia faction.
Once the other mafia faction is eliminated: You may roleblock on any night. You may perform the factional kill on any night on any player. However, you cannot do both on the same night.
JoeBob - You are Minotaur! You are small, durable, and hit like a truck. Because of your compact design, you will keep on fighting right up until a KO, regardless of how much damage you’ve taken. Because of this, you are the Ascetic. You are immune to all non-lethal night actions. On even nights, you may visit a player. You may perform a factional kill on odd nights ONLY on the player that you personally visited the previous night.
Once the other mafia faction is eliminated:
You may perform the factional kill on any night on any player.
Town:
Greyparrot – You are Black Dragon! You’re the definition of mid offense, godly defense. On several occasions, you have survived to the end of the match on fire and upside down. However, you usually lose the judge’s decision afterwards. Because of this, you are the Bleeder. If you are targeted during the night, you will die at the end of the next DP. You will not be informed that you are bleeding. You win with the town.
Lunatic – You are Witch Doctor! Your ability is the same as your name – you are a Doctor! You are the Nonconsecutive Doctor. Each night, you can target a player, including yourself. This player will be protected from kills during the night. You may not protect the same player twice in a row. You win with the town.
Vader/Barney – You are Chomp! You are known for a stunning upset victory over the undisputed GOAT of Battlebots, Bite Force. This victory was achieved with an ingenious LIDAR system that allowed you to track the opposing bot’s movement and fire your hammer at them accordingly. Thus, you are the Tracker. Each night, you may choose to track a player, finding out who they visited for the night. You win with the town.
RationalMadman - You are Shatter! You are (in)famous for an incident in which you accused another team of modifying their bot after the pre-match weight check, an accusation that was eventually found to be true. Because of this investigation, you are the Cop. Each night, you may investigate another player, and will receive a “guilty” or “innocent” result. You win with the town.
7000series – You are speed – I mean, Hypershock! You are one of the fastest bots in Battlebots, and no one is a match for your maneuverability. Unfortunately, you’re too fast even for your driver, and tend to slam into the wall half the time. Because of this, you are the Even-night Commuter. On even nights, you may choose to be immune to any and all night actions. You win with the town.
Best.Korea - You are Duck! You’re my favorite bot, despite the fact you’re basically a 250-pound brick on wheels. Your strategy is to ram into the other bot until it breaks, letting nothing, not even the laws of physics, get in your way. And because of how durable you are, this works a surprising amount of the time. You are the 1-shot Bulletproof Vigilante. During any NP, you may message me to become a bulletproof vigilante the next NP ONLY. You will be immune to night kills, and can choose one player of your choice to kill. You win with the town.
Mechanics:
-Each faction gets a single bulletproof which will remain until it is used.
-Factional kills behave as mentioned in the role - not like usual mafia.
Theme:
All three factions had a themesplit, but I intentionally made the town one less obvious.
-For Mafia Faction 1, the themesplit was "bots from teams with multiple bots." This one's pretty self-explanatory.
-For Mafia Faction 2, the themesplit was "bots with non-traditional spinning weapons." Whiplash has a blade combined with a lifter, Minotaur has a wide drum, and HUGE has a blade literally as big as its wheels.
-For Town, the themesplit was "bots with a large fanbase."
Night actions:
NP1:
-ijb1 stalks Joebob
-Wylted visits whiteflame
-Joebob NKs Greyparrot (stopped by factional bulletproof)
-Lunatic forfeits action
-Vader tracks Lunatic (randomized)
-RationalMadman cops whiteflame
-Best.Korea activates vig
NP2:
-ijb1 NKs Joebob (stopped by factional bulletproof)
-Joebob visits Lunatic
-RationalMadman cops ijb1
-Wylted roleblocks RationalMadman
-Lunatic protects RationalMadman
-Barney tracks Best.Korea
-Best.Korea vigs Wylted (stopped by factional bulletproof)
NP3:
-ijb1 stalks RationalMadman
-RationalMadman cops Barney
-Barney tracks ijb1
-Lunatic protects Barney
-Joebob NKs Lunatic
NP4:
-RationalMadman cops Joebob
-Barney tracks Best.Korea
-Joebob NKs Barney

Welcome to Battlebots Mafia! This will be themed around Battlebots, a popular reality TV show which will get us in trouble with our future AI overlords. Have fun!
Flips:
Lynched DP1:
7000series – You are speed – I mean, Hypershock.

Questions?:
-If you have a question pertaining to how a role or mechanic works, I will answer it hypothetically in the thread or in PMs. For example:
“If a Hated Miller were in the game, would the Hated go away at MYLO?”
“Hypothetically, if this role was in the game, Hated would not go away at MYLO.”
I reserve the right to not answer questions that I believe are trying to get an unfair insight into the setup beyond what was intended.
Mechanics Information:
-Everything from the first DP still applies, except the DP period. This DP, and future ones, will last 72 hours at maximum, with extensions given on a case-to-case basis.

Welcome to Battlebots Mafia! This will be themed around Battlebots, a popular reality TV show which will get us in trouble with our future AI overlords. Have fun!
Suggested resources:
R/battlebots subreddit
Battlebots fights on Youtube
Battlebots fandom wiki
Mechanics Information:
-The first DP will be 48 hours long. Subsequent DPs will be 72 hours long. I will grant extensions as I see fit.
-All NP’s will be 24 hours long. There will be no extensions unless you inform me in advance that you will be gone.
-Majority voting will be in effect (defined as being more than 50% of living players.) If there is no majority reached by the deadline AND there are enough non-voting players to potentially reach a majority, I will use plurality voting to resolve. Ties will be broken by the first player to be voted.
-There are two mafia factions, each of which are attempting to be the last ones standing. They can and will kill each other.
-One faction gets to kill on the odd nights, and the other on the even nights. If one faction is entirely eliminated, the other faction will receive their factional kill for subsequent nights.
-Faction 1, Faction 2, and the town have a single x1 factional bulletproof. (This is the balance change I made for 10 players instead of 11 or 12). Any protective roles will take priority over the factional bulletproof being used. For example, if Faction 1 targets town on NP1, town will lose its factional bulletproof, and be vulnerable to Faction 2.
-Alignment flips will be posted after hammer, role flips will be posted the next DP. Role flips will not specify which mafia faction the player was a part of.
-This is role madness.
-Scum has been given fakeclaims.
-I have semi-randomized the wording of the PM's.
Endgame conditions:
-The game will end when one of the following conditions are met:
-One faction has reached parity or greater with the town, and the other faction is eliminated
-All factions have been eliminated and there is at least one townie left
Rules:
- Don’t CP from PM’s or pretend to do so.
- Cease posting when you are dead.
- Do not contact other players outside of the thread or approved chats.
- Respect the site rules, and other players.
- Don’t do anything else that gives you an unfair advantage, even if it’s not explicitly stated in the rules. It won’t make you clever, but it will get you modkilled.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I have a few weeks to mess around before school gets hectic again... so might as well.
Theme
The theme here is Battlebots, objectively the best sports show ever made. If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch the following videos (you won't regret it):
Each player will receive a character based on an existing Battlebot, and their role will be based off of it. All Battlebots chosen will be reasonably well-known.
There will be a themesplit. Each faction will have their own themesplit.
Setup
This is a multiball setup. There are two mafia factions. One will kill on odd nights, and the other will kill on even nights.
To balance this out, town will have some stronger power roles than normal.
The game will end when:
-1 faction reaches parity with town, and the other faction is eliminated (faction win)
-2 factions reach parity with each other, and town is eliminated (draw between factions)
-2 factions are eliminated, and town is still alive (town win)
-Everyone kills each other (everyone loses)
Mafia will have daytalk throughout the game.
If you have a question about a setup, I can answer it hypothetically.
Rules and Modding
Don't C/P PM's, don't communicate out-of-thread, don't talk after you're dead, don't violate site rules. Don't do anything scummy that's not on this list or a modkill will probably result.
Other than that, have fun. This is my first game I'm modding, so I hope it will go well for everyone.
List (12 preferred, 11 will work as well):
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.

I joined this website in late 2022, back in the days when I still had copious amounts of free time. Of course, I wasn't very good - in fact, looking back at my early debates, the structure of my arguments was horrific. But I had fun, and that was what mattered.
I left for a few reasons. My final debate vs. blamonkey showed me how outmatched I was in many respects against a truly competent debater. Then I kinda got distracted with preparing for my 1st year of high school and trying to achieve my goal of becoming a National Master in chess.
So why did I come back? Well, my school has a debate club, so I joined just for fun, and entered my 1st serious debate tournament (e.g. with schools competing from multiple states). This tournament really made me realize how much DART helped my debating skills. While my fellow novices were stealing cards and cases from the more experienced debaters (and proceeded to get rolled because they didn't know anything about their own case), I researched and put together a case, blocks, and frontlines with my partner.
We ended up going 5-0 in prelims, and broke all the way into the finals before losing a split decision to a team with over 10 tournaments under their belt. I'm absolutely sure this wouldn't have been possible without everything I learned when debating at DART. This is far from a perfect website, but I have a lot to thank it for.

The Tournament ended with blamonkey winning/losing against me which I am now happy/sad about as it means that I can/cannot bring this up without sounding narcissistic. (note to self: edit later) My problem does not stem from the lack of glory and announcement surrounding the tournament ending, it stems from a complete lack of Wylted following through on his singular campaign promise: getting DART popular AF.
He is just seasonally fortunate, the months that lead into the Northern Hemisphere's Summer and Spring type months are linked to more activity on debate forums. I don't even fully understand why what with exams and all but this has been consistent and I've 'been around' sites like this for a while.
The fact is that perhaps the only person who got people to join more to DART was me with my convincing half my school’s debate club to join, it may have garnered some attention (this is something I readily let myself know I was doing, I even told myself, so don't accuse me of stalking me).
I see badger trying, Wylted flaking, Pie 100% flaking and around 40% of Wylted voters (or more actually) are basically dead af to the website whereas those that voted RM are almost all active here.
The thing is I don't care about that ^, I was unwilling to vote Wylted until things happened later on making me respect his character again (from what I thought about him vs his promise to thinking it about him again).
There has not even been any feedback from Wylted during the Best.Korea warnings making him leave the site. We have seen nothing at all where Wylted defends or even makes a post acting as the balancing power to the moderators.

It makes you wonder if he even understands his role. It doesn't matter if he agrees with the bans, he should be publicly defending and making speeches about both sides, primarily focused on being a defendant to the user.

Disclaimer: this is a parody of last year’s thread: What precisely has Airmax done during his Presidency here towards his campaign promises?
However, I decided to post this to generate some legitimate discussion over two things:
1. Wylted’s extended inactivity from this site (over 20 days now)
2. His lack of following through on campaign promises - he promised to promote DART on social media, create content on other sites, change election standards, create a DART university, etc. His entire platform was based on getting DART popular and shaking things up. None of this has happened.
Thoughts? Although this thread is a joke, I feel like we might be heading towards another year of an inactive president...

It can't get worse than it currently is - why not give RM a try?
(I'm just creating this thread because if Wylted can make three threads, then RM, Sir.Lancelot, and I should be able to make a combined three).
