I was talking to airmax recently and was wondering why he failed to fulfill his duties as president. He personally told me to send this message to you guys, and sorry I am logging back on. I really am leaving permanently but so many members are reaching out to me and pouring out their feelings to me.

Dear DebateArt.com community,

It is with a heavy heart that I write this message to announce my departure from this once-thriving intellectual platform. Today, I, airmax1227, join what is being called "The OG Exodus" as a response to the rampant antisemitism that has plagued our community.

When I initially joined DebateArt.com, I was filled with hope and excitement to engage in stimulating debates, expand my knowledge, and connect with a diverse range of individuals. I believed that this platform fostered an environment of inclusivity and respect, where intellectual growth could flourish. Regrettably, recent events have shattered that illusion, exposing a distressing undercurrent of antisemitic sentiment.

Antisemitism, in its many forms, has no place in civil discourse or any aspect of our society. Yet, it has become alarmingly pervasive within our community, permeating conversations, threads, and interactions. From subtle microaggressions to outright hate speech, the presence of antisemitism has tarnished the very fabric of DebateArt.com.

As a Jewish individual, I have personally borne witness to and experienced the effects of this bigotry. The derogatory remarks, offensive stereotypes, and discriminatory behavior have left me disheartened and disillusioned. It is dispiriting to see a platform that was once a beacon of intellectual exchange succumb to such toxic and hateful rhetoric.

The decision to join the OG Exodus was not an easy one, but it is a necessary step to combat the prevalence of antisemitism and push for change within this community. The movement represents a collective effort by individuals who refuse to accept this status quo and strive for an inclusive and tolerant platform.

DebateArt.com was intended to be a space where ideas could be shared, perspectives could be challenged, and respectful dialogue could flourish. Unfortunately, the unchecked antisemitism has eroded these principles, stifling free expression and perpetuating harmful stereotypes. By standing together in the OG Exodus, we hope to shed light on this issue and implore the administration and the community as a whole to take action.

My departure from DebateArt.com should not be seen as an abandonment of intellectual discourse, but rather a strategic decision to seek out platforms that prioritize inclusivity, respect, and empathy. I yearn for a community where diversity is celebrated, and all members are valued for their contributions, regardless of their religious or cultural backgrounds.

To those who have engaged in meaningful discussions and fostered an environment of acceptance and understanding, I express my gratitude. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed. However, it is essential to recognize that change must come from within the community as a whole. It is imperative to address antisemitism directly, challenge harmful narratives, and create a safe space for all individuals to participate and grow.

I hope that DebateArt.com will heed our concerns and take significant steps to eradicate antisemitism from its ranks. It is my fervent wish that this platform can regain its former glory and become a beacon of intellectual discourse where bigotry has no place.

Thank you to all those who have contributed positively to my journey on DebateArt.com. I cherish the friendships and connections I have made here and look forward to continuing intellectual pursuits in spaces that embrace diversity, inclusivity, and the values that define a truly vibrant community.

With heartfelt hopes for positive change,

This was written in an angry state by iliepie and he told me to post it on his behalf because the site makes him too sick to even log into with all the bigotry particularly from TWS. I believe he has amended these thoughts to mean he will post more sparingly but this may be his final post s dictated to me.

Dear DebateArt.com community,

I hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits. Today, I write to you as a long-standing member of this platform, but with a heavy heart and a profound sense of disappointment. It is with great sadness that I announce my departure from DebateArt.com, joining what has been coined "The OG Exodus."

I have been an active member of this community for quite some time, engaging in stimulating debates, exchanging ideas, and learning from the diverse perspectives presented here. It has been a space that nurtured intellectual growth and encouraged critical thinking. DebateArt.com provided a platform for individuals from all walks of life to share their thoughts, express their opinions, and challenge one another in respectful and meaningful discussions.

However, I have recently witnessed an alarming increase in bigotry and prejudice towards members of Indian origin, including myself. As an Indian, I have personally encountered instances of discrimination, racism, and derogatory remarks on numerous occasions. While I understand that debates can be intense and heated, it is disheartening to witness such blatant disregard for respect and understanding.

A healthy debate should be centered around ideas and facts, fostering an environment of mutual respect and empathy. Yet, the animosity I have encountered based solely on my nationality has tainted my experience on DebateArt.com. It is deeply disappointing to see fellow members engaging in hateful rhetoric and perpetuating stereotypes, hindering the open exchange of ideas that this platform was built upon.
The "OG Exodus" represents a collective movement of individuals who have decided to leave DebateArt.com due to the increasing presence of bigotry and the failure of the platform to address this issue effectively. It is not a decision made lightly but rather born out of a desire for change, inclusivity, and a commitment to the principles of equality and respect.

I believe that diverse voices and perspectives are the cornerstone of any vibrant intellectual community. The beauty of DebateArt.com was once its ability to bring together individuals from all walks of life, transcending borders, cultures, and beliefs. However, the current climate has eroded the sense of unity and inclusivity that we once cherished.

My decision to leave DebateArt.com is not a withdrawal from intellectual discourse but rather a strategic move to seek out platforms that value and prioritize diversity, respect, and understanding. It is my hope that by joining the OG Exodus, we can raise awareness about the issues faced by members of the Indian community and prompt positive change in how debates are conducted, ensuring a more inclusive environment for all participants.
I want to emphasize that my decision to leave DebateArt.com is not an attack on the entire community, but rather a stance against the prevalent bigotry and lack of effective action in addressing it. I acknowledge that there are still individuals within this community who strive for inclusivity and fairness. However, I believe that change can only be enacted when a collective effort is made to confront and address these issues head-on.

As I bid farewell to DebateArt.com, I carry with me the memories of insightful discussions, valuable lessons, and the knowledge that, at its core, this platform has the potential to be a catalyst for positive change. It is my sincere hope that the administration and the community as a whole will take these concerns seriously and work towards fostering an environment that promotes respect, understanding, and equality.

Thank you to those who have engaged in meaningful discussions and contributed positively to my journey on DebateArt.com. I cherish the friendships and connections I have made during my time here and look forward to continuing intellectual pursuits in spaces that embrace diversity and ensure the well-being of all participants.

With heartfelt gratitude and a commitment to positive change,

The following users have left or are in the process of leaving

Rational madman- has returned to explain that he is leaving.

Badger- is leaving

Wylted- Is leaving

Thett- I talked to them and they are permanently gone after the refusal to ban TWS and Roosevelt

Danielle has told me in a PM she will not be returning for the same reason.

Coal- promised to not come back to this shitholes

Ilikepie- is done with the site at my command

Many other users are being aggressive about pulling back their usage of the site including whiteflame, Ragnar, David, and many others.

The OG Exodus is happening because of the refusal of the site to get rid of toxic members like TWS and Roosevelt. I can also tell you from being in the mod PM that the only active current mod is oromagi. For the last month the chat is mostly dead outside of my occasional reminder to whiteflame that he is Jewish.

The site is done. Maybe stage yourselves in the official and unofficial discord channel to somebody creates a replacement site that is more aggressive about making the site focus more on debate and less on red team blue team bullshit.

I did make my login credentials public so any more posts from this account won't be mine, but here is a no bullshit way to fix this site

Ban trolls who can't debate. Not the trolls who can debate. The fact people are even sharing their true opinions so much in these threads is a problem. They should be debating stuff they have fun debating, not attempting to spread their stupid beliefs.

Just like the people listed. I am gone. No more posts and I will disappear into the ether.

This place is a shithole. Here is a list of 10 things wrong with this shithole place and all of it's shit hole members. I want to incentivize you to read this by giving you my log in credentials so somebody can pretend to be me until this account gets banned, plus I am leaving anyway so I don't fucking care.

How to login as me

email address [email protected]

1. security on this site is shit. I can't even change that password so anybody with me email address can compromise me and I am helpless. Also I think I can literally choose 123456 as a password and it will work just fine.

2. The mods are too busy in real life to moderate this site properly. Normally not a problem but since almost everyone on this site is mentally disabled and emotionally disabled, then they can't just assign new mods to take some of the work load. Case in point they made oromagi a mod and dude actually thinks it's appropriate to openly discuss with members how to approach a modding situation instead of being tactful and taking it to the mod PM. Let's forget that Oromagi is asking if saying that "CHristians think Gays should die"(paraphrasing) is a threat of violence. Anyone with a 3 digit IQ and claims to be a christian should know that the bible states the wages of sin is death and that homos are sinners.

3. Everyone here is shit at debating. If I am at my best I will easily destroy the top 10 debaters on this site in a fair topic. My results on DDO against the top 10 would have me winning maybe 50% at best, and 40% at worst.

4. This place is toxic. We have members for example one with a president in their name (not me)  who are extremely abusive to other members and their behavior is ignored and rarely punished.

5. I asked Kaitlyn for her number so I can send her pics of me with my shirt off and she never gave it to me. There is literally no point in being here if I have to see her and be constantly reminded of that rejection.

6. Mafia isn't happening. Mafia was the only fun thing on the site because you guys are boring as shit. On DDO people made fun videos like the weekly stupid or they hosted talk shows like tophatdoc, and there was another guy who did videos of drama, though he was before my time. This is the shit needed to keep the site fresh but none of you guys are creative and the site sucks because of it.

7.  Black people are allowed on the site

8. The code of conduct is not even updated despite us voting on putting up a new one like 3 months ago

9. I have a fucking life and need to accomplish those things instead of being around the tards on this site

10. RM is gone and I think I utterly destroyed him in every single way imaginable and made him my bitch. Him leaving this sit is what made the site so bad and so I am leaving so that douchebag returns, hopefully by being the fastest person to steal my username and edit the first part of this post before anyone sees it

fuck you all and good night.

Badger is now president of this site, and will be eligible for reelection as he did not get a full term to serve. I just can't associate with all of you losers and homos.

I will be president for the next 24 hours and then Badger takes over. Ilikepie will remain the vice president and maintain all the powers the role bestows upon him.

According to the media, white nationalist Mauricio Garcia shot up a bunch of white people because he is a white nationalist neo Nazi.

This guy is definitely a white supremacist and this is not a coordinated attempts by the media to spread some sort of anti white narrative. White supremacist would obviously be Mexican and shoot up white people.

A woman is about to be robbed and killed by an attacker who could easily over power her, but thanks to the second amendment she survived and is safe from everything except potentially the lawyers suing her, but other than that she is alive and otherwise she might not be.

God made man and woman, smith and Wesson made them equal.

I am just now reading that she was interacting with him to save him, after he was just jumped by several people. So she literally saved his life and he thanked her apparently by attempting to rob her immediately after

Terns shot after accidentally getting into wrong ca.

This is the next liberal psy op to remove people's rights of self defense. They are searching hard for stories they can label "accidental after mundane mistake"

Neither of these work but eventually they may find a few mundane ones that do. Of course the liberal media won't use statistics or academic arguments to support their position. Instead they focus on cherry picked incidents.

The kid accidentally entering the wrong house after everyone in the house is asleep is mislabeled as a kid knocking.

The other one was not a person pissed at what he thought was a car thief. It was a guy who was shooting at a different car that was taking off after they realized their mistake and at a point where the guy knew it was a mistake.

So we have one incident that is most likely a legitimate misunderstanding and another one that is just some asshole. (Until the rest of the stories appear anyway, if they ever do)

Since the last time we talked some good things have occurred.

More patrons

THe site has more patron users, which just costs $3 a month and currently gives you 100 credits a month I believe. I have been using it to promote posts when the post quality has looked weak and will use the credits to promote this post. The credits are worth the $3 alone. I am also currently working on getting Lancelot to create a patrons only thread on his Discord.

Code of conduct

The new Code of Conduct has passed, which will create an environment of free speech and mutual respect. Both things necessary to improve and maintain the culture of this site once it starts acquiring new members. Thanks to everyone who contributed to and voting on the new COC and to the mods for agreeing to enforce it in the way intended.

Phase 2

I have completed phase one of my plan as president, at least my part in phase one. Anyone who wants to ensure the success of the site and wants to complete the other elements is encouraged to do so, and here are some suggestions on what you can do to make phase one even more successful.

1. Help to create and promote new standards in election voting to prevent the newer members soon arriving from having a disproportionate amount of power over the current site members.

2. Influence the culture of the site by becoming an exemplar of the behavior we expect.

3. Creating a university of Dart to train new members how to debate.

In phase 2 we are going do some gorilla social media marketing as well as content creation on other sites. I will do what I can alone but anyone who wants to help can make phase 2 more successful by PMing me and playing your part in the growth of the community.

I started a new fresh channel of YouTube and will be using it to bait small creators into debating me. I could use some followers to get the ball rolling on harassing 20 year olds with strong opinions on a variety of topics. https://youtube.com/@wylted

I can get on board with believing in Jesus, with thinking he was raised from the dead.

Why would I want to be forgiven?

1. It's fucked up that he would be sacrificed for my sins. The guy was perfect, he doesn't deserve that. Literally slaughtering an innocent person. I don't want that on my conscience and so I must reject forgiveness.

2. Why would I want forgiveness? Why would I want to get away with stuff? I would much prefer to pay for my sins. I rather just take some sort of punishment than allowing some filthy Jew to die for me, particularly one who is not only innocent but the most innocent a person ever has been.

What is with some people's urge to receive forgiveness rather than actually pay for their crimes?

I have done wrong things. I deserve the consequences of those things and in fact so do you.

This is a simple yay or nay vote on the proposed new code of conduct. You can find a copy of the policy here https://www.evernote.com/shard/s645/sh/644d1e17-1ef3-3ef5-f968-542592992d8f/oE3TDdHIibb3PsfMvwM5EpSE0FVNCufDv-upv_hudVvOVqFEskfHk3YAdA

This moderation policy was shown to all the active moderators who have agreed to enforce this code of conduct should it pass the meep process.

I have accepted nearly every requested adjustment to the meep first in the moderator chat and then in the following thread. https://www.debateart.com/forum/topics/8967-discussion-of-and-proposal-of-revamped-moderation-policy-?page=1

The purpose of this moderation policy is to accomplish the following two goals because the dart community mostly falls into one or both of the following camps and the current moderation policies do not meet the needs of these two camps.

Camp 1- people who would like to make sure that no topic is considered too taboo to discuss in a respectful manner on the site.

Camp 2. Individuals who would like to see more respect amongst community members towards each other.

This meep will be active for 7 days and the final vote count respected as of 6:30 pm next Tuesday.

When voting please compare the proposed new COC to the former COC found following this sentence and not towards some idealized perfect policy you have in your head. We want progress not perfection. https://info.debateart.com/terms-of-service/rules

For anyone who doesn't know. The rapper afroman has a frivolous warrant executed on him for kidnapping and drugs. The cops do a no knock warrant for some reason thinking somebody who makes millions from music is also a drug deal and apparently a human trafficker all based off of a random tip so probably an anonymous email or something.

Anyway afroman uses his home surveillance system to record them and basically makes an entire album's worth of songs based on that one raid.

The cops are suing based on the fact they say their reputations were harmed and their feelings are hurt. Before you feel sorry for these guys though, you should know 3 things.

1. They were searching for the kidnap victim under couch cushions and in jacket pockets. Not joking

2. The money they seized they claimed was miscounted so they returned about $400 less to him than they seized.

3. This is the most incriminating part. They actually were cutting his camera feed. If these cops weren't doing anything wrong, no way in hell do the cut the camera feed.

I was just reading this book (ex superheroes 2) and the main character is being threatened with rape by the female supervillain if he doesn't have sex with her. He doesn't want to be raped I guess so he consents to sex but he proceeds to hate fuck the supervillain.

I thought I knew where the line between rape and not rape is, but this scene in the book made me reconsider. Was the main character raped or not?

Dear DART community,

As you all know, DART has been a place for passionate and engaging debates for years. It is a platform where people come together to share their thoughts, challenge one another, and foster a community of thinkers and doers.

However, today I have some troubling news to share with you all. The site owner, Mike, has informed me that DART is at risk of shutting down due to lack of funds. Mike has been putting in more money than he is making, and has now been laid off from his job, making it nearly impossible for him to continue to sustain the site on his own.

But there is hope. We can save DART by rallying together and showing our support. We can use the  Patreon link at the bottom of the page to give donations, and I urge each and every one of you to consider contributing what you can. Even a small donation can make a big difference and help us keep this wonderful community alive.

DART is more than just a platform for debate. It's a space where people from all walks of life can come together to learn from one another, to grow, and to make meaningful connections. Let's not let this incredible resource disappear. Let's show our support and keep DART alive for generations to come.

Thank you for your consideration, and for being a part of the DART community.

Sincerely,
PREZ-HILTON
President of DART

P.S. I am working on getting some Patreon subscriber benefits in order to help both Mike and Patreon supporters.

Hello all, fivesix am looking for a serious contender for his debate 'Holocaust-denial legislation is driven more by a desire to criminalise thus stigmatise dissent than by a desire to mitigate harm, resulting from Holocaust denial, to individual Jews.' (https://www.debateart.com/debates/4119-holocaust-denial-legislation-is-driven-more-by-a-desire-to-criminalise-thus-stigmatise-dissent-than-by-a-desire-to-mitigate-harm-resulting-from-holocaust-denial-to-individual-jews)
fivesix will create a new debate when he find a serious contender.

Here is fivesix's argument if you want to hash out some stuff in this thread as well.

Good day and good luck to my opponent, Sir.Lancelot.

I begin by introducing the nation to most recently outlaw Holocaust denial: Canada. Trying to find the first source of the push for this effort has been challenging. One of the earliest mentions I can find online is here http://bit.ly/3xeg2w6, page 17:

In September 1997, at the opening of B'nai Brith Canada's International Symposium on Hate on the Internet, co-chair Lawrence Hart, stated that,

"The Internet may be seen as a great equalizer of information and disinformation, allowing Holocaust educators and Holocaust deniers to share the same legitimacy through search engines, bringing this pernicious form of antisemitism, racism and hate directly into the homes of children researching their history projects."
So here we have, 26 years ago, the internet, a tool of mass communication, being predicted to be "a great equalizer of information and disinformation". Yet today any dissenting views on the Holocaust are censored or buried across the internet, with many people unable to articulate a precise point of a Holocaust denier. They know they exist, but they know not what they say; and this pattern is repeated in this area of history, with dissenting views hidden but popular views promoted, even to the point where 'debunking' videos are available when the video or work being debunked is simply 'unavailable' as it is so difficult to find. So I suppose whomever has decided what side is disinformation has come out victorious, and we need not be so worried. Still, Holocaust-denial legislation is being pushed for worldwide, by the UN in 2022[http://bit.ly/3xecE4r] and by NGOs in the United States, arguably the last bastion of freedom of speech worldwide. From the remarks of Christopher Wolf, Founder and Chair, Anti-Defamation League Task Force on Internet Hate[http://bit.ly/3E0v90i]

... that is largely because of the legal framework in my home country, the US. The First Amendment to the United States Constitution establishes freedom of expression and protects virtually all speech, even the most repugnant such as Holocaust denial. The law may be used only if hate speech creates an imminent threat of violence or interferes directly with individuals' legal rights. Unlike in many countries, there is no human right to be free from the indignity of hate speech that can be balanced against another's right to free expression.

I think it is fair to say that under the First Amendment, the US is a de facto a haven for hate speech, essentially free from the strictures of the law, and Internet content can be published in the US and broadcast to the world. Although a former French Minister of Justice loudly said "Stop hiding behind the First Amendment at an OSCE conference on online hate speech," the fact is that the First Amendment and its expansive effects are here to stay.
Mr. Wolf sounds irritated that the First Amendment exists, referring to it as a "haven for hate speech."

Mr. Wolf, it is a haven for free speech, some of which you may consider to be hateful; it is not a haven for hate speech, whatever that actually is.

Would Wolf rather the First Amendment was given an exclusion for Holocaust denial? I can categorically say: yes. He goes on to conclude with suggestions that the alternative to introducing Holocaust-denial legislation where he cannot do it is to censor and override dissenting views:

Instead of the law as a first resort, I urge greater focus on education and counter-speech, and greater involvement of Internet intermediaries. These tools, in the end, have greater potential to combat online Holocaust denial.
This is a key point. Mr. Wolf does not show regard for individual Jews in this essay. Mr. Wolf was the chair of the ADL task force on internet hate. Mr. Wolf mentions 'denial' over 40 times in this essay, while mentioning 'Jew' only 8 times, none of which referring to individual Jews and 3 of which being in this revealing paragraph:

I want to provide a brief code to the discussion earlier at this conference of the appearance on Google Search of "Jew Watch" when the search term Jew was used. You should know that after discussions between the ADL and Google, Google agreed to post a sponsored link adjacent to the Jew Watch search listing pointing out that it is objectionable and providing a discussion of anti-Semitism and a link to an ADL site. This is an example of intermediary cooperation and the use of counter-speech, which should be promoted and expanded.

Dear members of Debateart.com,

I wanted to take a moment to provide an update on the progress we've made towards the goals outlined in my previous address. Firstly, I'm happy to announce that we have made great strides in phase one of our plan found here https://www.debateart.com/forum/topics/8762-presidential-update-1-52
, which focused on overhauling our moderation policies to ensure the smooth running of the site even with an influx of new members. We have submitted for discussion some future voting and moderation policies, and we're hopeful that we'll be able to implement these changes soon.

I also wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to tejretics for taking it upon himself to create a new debate tournament on the site. This type of initiative and dedication is exactly what we need to keep growing and improving as a community.
https://www.debateart.com/forum/topics/8867-tejreticss-restricted-topics-tournament

Lastly, I want to thank Mike, the site owner, for beginning the process of completely overhauling the site to make it better. This is no small task, and we appreciate the work that he and the rest of the team are putting in.

As we move forward, I want to encourage all of you to continue to share your feedback and ideas with us. Together, we can make Debateart.com the best platform for online debate and discussion.

Additionally, I am excited to announce that we will be working on creating a DART university to train interested members in the culture of the site, such as critical thinking skills, debating skills, and fallacies. If you're interested in helping with this project, please reach out to me.

Dart University is the only part of phase 1 that is left to be completed, and we have a whole month to get it done in order to meet the timeline mentioned in the first address. After that we will be moving to phase 2 and hopefully I can share with you a more detailed outline of what phase 2 involves in the upcoming weeks.

Thank you all for being a part of this community and for your continued support.
Best regards, Wylted

I would like to discuss altering the election voting policy in the following ways to be submitted for an upcoming meep or referendum. Feedback is appreciated so the policy can pass with wide site approval as opposed to merely winning by a slim margin.

This just refers to the voting process of the election and any other discussion of election rules should be done in another thread.

VOTING POLICY (election)

  1. Voters must have a registered account on DebateArt.com that is at least 90 days old to be eligible to vote.
  2. Voters must have made at least 25 non-spam posts on the site to be eligible to vote.
  3. Voters must not have engaged in any serious rule violations, such as doxxing, plagiarism, or multiple account usage, within the 90 days leading up to the election.
  4. Voters must not be moderators or site administrators.
  5. Voters must be actively engaged in the site community, meaning they have logged in and participated in discussions within the past 30 days.
  6. In case of a tie, moderators and site administrators will have the final vote.
A policy such as above would create a more fair election process and in case of close elections will allow for an immediate resolution and finality to the election.

I am going to propose for a meep in the near future the moderation policy below among other things as part 1 of the plan that was outlined in the first presidential address.

This post is just about feedback on the proposed moderation policy so it can be altered to fit the will of the majority and succeed when offered as a MEEP.

The community's philosophy on moderation is split into two camps. Camp A wants a policy that will elevate the level of conversation on the site as well as guarantee a mutual respect among site users. Camp B prioritizes freedom of speech in regards to making sure no topic is considered taboo. Hopefully the policy we ultimately submit for the MEEP process will make both camps of people happy. Without further Ado

++++++++++++++++

DebateArt.com Moderation Policy

DebateArt.com is dedicated to fostering an environment where users can engage in thoughtful and open debate on any topic, no matter how controversial or offensive it may be. Our moderation policy is designed to promote free speech while also ensuring that all users are treated with respect and that our community remains safe and constructive.

We are long overdue on a guide for interpreting the code of conduct on the site. A link to the code of conduct can found here https://info.debateart.com/terms-of-service/rules . This guide is intended to guide the site on a reasonable interpretation of the rules, so misunderstandings can be avoided in the future. It is also intended to help moderators remain consistent and show consistency in moderating policy.

I will be skipping the parts least up for interpretation.

User Accounts

"You may not use hateful, harassing, or obscene language or imagery in your username or avatar."

No nude pics unless they are artistic, no words in the avatar image such as "Wylted is a cuck" as a recent example. That would also fall under harassing language as the avatar or username was directed at a specific user, I would also advise against avatars that contain gruesome imagery such as dismembered bodies or fecal matter.

Hateful language would include clear racial slurs not borderline cases, derogatory and provably untrue statements such as "All white people are racist" or "Gypsy killer" or "Jews killedJesus" are forbidden, though defending those beliefs in a debate or by offering premises in threads that defend those positions are fine. We are not looking to thought police you, we are looking to disprove you here.

Authenticity

"Extravagant lies, not to be confused with mere context issues, may rise to the level of constituting impersonation"

extravagant lies, would constitute situations such as where you may claim to be an actual doctor and start giving dangerous medical advice. Perhaps it would be a situation where you are pretending to have inside information you don't possess, such as being a political aide and claiming that a nuke is about to hit the United States in 3 hours. These sorts of things are what is intended by the extravagant lie clause and it is not intended to be used as an excuse for other situations that don't fall neatly into the COC. For those situations I would encourage mods to either alter the COC or post "other" as the reasoning for the ban and give context.

Harassment

"You may not threaten or promote violence against any person or persons, barring hyperbole against public figures (e.g., “all politicians should be shot”). Advocacy in favor of terrorism and/or violent extremism, especially as related to hate groups as generally defined by the SPLC, is likewise prohibited."

The SPLC statement should be ignored, it is a link to an FAQ about hate groups with no definition offered, and clearly advocating the views of hate groups is acceptable. The very nature of a debate site is we are looking for a wide range of views and people to debate.

This sentence is properly interpreted to mean you are not to advocate for terrorist actions. No advising people to bomb buildings, though a debate explaining why it is a acceptable to take such actions is fine and hopefully allowing that talks somebody off an edge one day. You are not to advocate for extremist violence though if you are a terrorist or a violent extremist you are welcome to debate your views. Though not explicitly stated, promoting extremism through recruitment or advertising is not acceptable.

"You may not promote or encourage suicide or self harm."

Again this is not to be taken to mean you can't advocate for euthanasia. It means you can't go around encouraging individuals or groups to kill themselves. A debate entitle "The user known as X should kill himself" would also be off the table as well. If you are suicidal, we will not consider it a promotion of suicide to reach out on the site for help.

"You may not share any content from private messages, without the consent of the respective authors; or with moderator approval (such as for dispute resolution)."

There has been some misunderstanding here as well. Essentially no copy and pasting of a PM or sharing screenshots. Statements such as bringing up the rough outline of what was talked about in a PM is fine, this occurs all the time on the site in the mafia games for example, but please use good judgement and allow people to trust that they can communicate privately with you.

Objectionable Content

"Unwarranted systemic vulgarity and invectives, which may include off topic personal attacks and/or hate speech, are subject to disciplinary actions."

We are all adults here or people mature enough to handle a bit of vulgarity. The hate speech here isn't about thought policing. It is specifically about group identified attacks. Here is 3 examples of acceptable topics that are close to being considered hate speech, followed by 3 that would be considered hate speech.

borderline

  1. The holocaust didn't happen or was over exaggerated
  2. 5 reasons White people should be sterilized
  3. Black people commit a disproportionate amount of crime

hate speech

  1. black's should be exterminated
  2. Chinks need to stop spreading the flu
  3. Native American's got what they deserved with small pox

I will say what is covered in this rule is personal attacks. I did plan on seeing if I can work with the mods to cut that down because I think the COC would make personal attacks a bannable offense, but that clearly would mean personal attacks that are considered ad hominem.

An example of an ad hominem attack would be something such as "homo's can't speak intelligently on abortion". A similar statement which is not an ad hominem would be "homos should not speak about abortion because their opinions are usually going to be informed by Ivory tower thinking". Both statements are fallacious but only one qualifies as a personal attack.

In general most insults that are backed by stated premises are usually okay. Debaters by their very nature are very logical and expose their ideals to debate because they seek self improvement. We have thick skin, and will often use the hard truth to improve ourselves or explain to you why your insult was stupid.

In general debates can get heated and the line between what will get you banned can occasionally bend to allow for heated exchanges, but the rules will not be allowed to bend too far or too often.

Conclusion

The rest of the COC touches on points irrelevant to the rules about enforcement. If you are curious about how enforcement works please click the link at top, and read through the entire COC.

The moderation team took no part in creating this document, but this is the interpretation of the COC, I find to be correct and that I am urging the moderation team to use the interpretation. They seem to be already doing this to a large extent, but the community should see this interpretation if they have a hard time comprehending the rules.

Current Progress and Updates

The rough start is behind us, and I appreciate you folks hanging in there while things got sorted out. Here is a few things I have been working on this week.

1. Asked Ragnar to unban a controversial member, he humored me by doing so. This is a strong sign the mods will be willing to work with me in the future as well., and I appreciate their effort to do so.

2. assigned Austin to a project involving altering the current ELO system. As soon as he personally writes out the math he wants to use, followed up by the pseudo code that will make implementing the change easy, we will be writing a meep to see if the community wants to use the new ELO system and if so, do they want to alter it any to make everyone, reasonably happy. feel free to message austin to learn more about his proposal.

3. Worked with Ramshutu to develop a zoomed out overarching plan to increase site traffic, to be shared possibly next week.

4. Assigned RM to be a neutral 3rd party to award the $25 gift card to a member who voted for me, and $50 to one person from the total pool of voters, as soon as he draws those names out of the hat, me or him will announce it publicly.

5. Began Hashing out the 3 phase plan, the site will be working on for the next year.

----------------------------------------------

The 3 Phase Plan (you guys will need to suggest a name or we stick with this name)

There is a lot of site members who seem interested in doing the 3 following things.

1. Grow the site's user base
2. monetize the site so that Mike doesn't abandon us. (PTSD from DDO, I guess)
3. Make the site welcoming to a more diverse range of opinions.

I personally have bigger plans than this, and want to invite every one of you to join me, but if your plans are merely to grow the site in a positive way, that's great and your needs will be met as well.

As far as growing the user base, and having a more diverse range of opinions are concerned, I will help you there. I see monetizing the site as Mike's problem, not ours. However I do have a plan that will immediately get him $500 a month towards the site if he is interested, and it doesn't involve ads.

This will be expanded on later, but if anybody wants to help accomplish both 1 and 3 above, they can start by engaging in a bit of epistemological humility and refusing to engage with both trolls and low brow material.

Purpose of Debate

Just a few months ago, if you asked me the purpose of debate, I would have told you that it was just to win, a competitive outlet. Sure that's a part of it, but I think it can be so much bigger. We are aiming too low here. You all have the opportunity and privilege to change the world if you come along on this journey with me.

There are other communities currently changing the world, and that can be us as well. It will be us. Read this article https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2021/05/palestinian-israeli-clubhouse-conversation.html

It's about a bunch of Israeli and Palestinians citizens coming together just to talk, and bridge their differences. The chats help them see each other as humans and victims as well. These people and over 100,000 have been in that room are making real impacts by pressuring their respective governments for peace.

We can do something like that on this site. we can create a more peaceful understanding world. A safer world. Everyone here right now, can look back and smile a year from now, knowing the world was a better place, because they joined an obscure debate site.

This is why freedom of speech here is so important. If you get a lot of threads from white males questioning the lived experiences of African Americans, the correct response is not to ban them for hate speech. The correct response is to reach out to members of the black community to come in here and interact with those people. Right now we have a bunch of males on the site debating abortion. I don't know about you guys, but I think women need to be a part of that debate, particularly if they have been in some tough situations where they felt the need to get an abortion.

If you want a more understanding world, than we have to open ourselves up to having a wider array of people and ideals to engage with.

I don't want more people here just for the sake of having more people here. I want more types of people. I would love to see a fat acceptance person, debating somebody like David Goggins, or a Russian soldier debating a Ukranian citizen or any number of people who can learn a lot from each other. I invite you all to join me in this fight for the future of mankind.

The Plan

Anyone who wants is free to contribute to this plan, and right now I am only going to give a brief overview and the details will come out slowly over the next few months. The plans will belong in a living document, that changes constantly, but the general framework is written in stone.

The plan consists of 3 phases. Phase one is preparing the site for the influx of people through voluntary shifts in culture, moderation and systems and should last 60-90 days .  Phase two is the process of bringing new members to the site. Phase two is slit up into two stages. Stage one is to bring serious debaters on the site and populate it with other interested people. Stage two is of this phase will involve bringing together disparate groups of people, simultaneously to balance each other out. This phase will last 10-11 months. Phase three is about putting systems in place so the site does the above things on autopilot.

Phase one

This is the main focus for the following two months, and I could really use some help in accomplishing these goals. Here is the focus on phase 3 most of which is to make sure the uptick in traffic doesn't overwhelm the site and destroy it.

1. Create a meep for a complete overhaul of moderation policies to ensure that the mods are not overwhelmed by too much work if we randomly get 200 new members tomorrow.

2. creating systems for the moderators so they can do more work in the exact same amount of time or less time than they do currently while handling a much larger work flow,

3. Overhaul the election process. We never want to go that long without a winner again, so remove the ability of mods to vote unless as a tie breaker. I suspect this would have made the process of determining a winner, both faster and easier. Make it so accounts must be 3 months old to vote to avoid gaming of the system. remove limitations that prevent candidates from making their case, which in and of itself excites people and increases engagement and retention of members who typically fly under the radar.

4. Discourage the practice of mods justifying decisions and also the sites culture of transparency, which leads to unnecessary disputes and time wasting activities of explaining things too much. You have the mod logs as to what decisions were made, you don't need to know anything else.

5. reduce the power of the presidency to begin at the end of my term. We don't need presidents having access to private mod chats, they can ask the reasonings behind decisions in separate PMs.

6. After all the meeps needed to accomplish phase one are completed than we have a final meep to eliminate the meep process. It's stupid time wasting process and has harmed the site. these things like transparency and mob rule sound good on paper, but it is harming the site, and I will push back.

7. Create a Dart university to train interested members in the culture of the site, such as critical thinking skills, debating skills, fallacies etc.

Phase 2

This is just a brief overview. as the time approaches we will go into more details, but I am still smoothing out the edges of this with Ramshutu and I believe Mr.Chris is okay with me including him in the process, we will also be pulling things from Airmax's prior plan.

essentially stage 1 of this process will involve the following things.

1. Targeting small influencers on tiktok. youtube, twitch etc. who enjoy debating people to come onto the site and make it happen, drawing in all of their followers. Ramshutu suggested globeymcglobeface as a potential target for example and many others. There are hundreds of influencers like that who are willing to debate

2. lots of e-mails to school debaters, coaches aficionados etc. as well as snail mail, cold calls etc,

And many other things involving social media, journalists etc, that are still being fleshed out. I am also trying to organize this in a way where it can be done with minimal work on my part, because this has to be sustainable. Ramshutu has already began work on Twitter and other social media platforms and though we aren't ready for this completely yet, you may see some early indications of what is to come shortly. I have talked to Lancelot and he has a large social media following he is going to pitch to soon as well.

stage 2

This stage of phase two is going to be the part that brings us world peace. This is when we really start going hard after a wide variety, and diversity of opinions and doing so with paid ads, provocative ads that piss the respective sides off enough to draw them here to debate each other. I will have to take one of the hundred ideals in my head and use it to devise a way to recoup the ad money though.

Phase 3

This is the stage where we do what is known as our exit plan. This requires creating systems that feed this funnel of people and is  run on autopilot.

Final Notes

Anyway, this is the shell of the living plan which is mostly on handwritten notes, that I will be transferring to a document when I get time. My only concerns are overwhelming the site, before it's ready for the cultural and systems shift needed for handling the influx of people.

Currently I am looking hard for people that can help me flesh out the rest of the phase one portion of the plan which must be completely done by April 1st. You guys have a good week, I am mainly going to just be stopping in on Sundays to give you these updates, and I look forward to working with some of you on phase one.

I don't know how the election will turn out . I know RM conceded to me several times and is now trying to take it back. I would like to get each rational madman supporter to pledge in this thread to respect democracy and vote for me should RM's attempt at an insurrection succeed at getting a second vote. I know some of you made those promises to flip your vote to me in PM if this happens, but I would like to make it public so RM has a chance to reconsider his actions.

Take the pledge

RM has already contacted me to concede and the votes seem clear as we have it. I just wanted to give the voters some closure before we all head off to bed.

I appreciate everyone's support. I definitely could not have done this without the following people

1. Señor vice president ilikepie
2. Vice president Badger
3.Sir Lance Lot
4. North Korea

.It's been a late night. I will give you guys more details about what is going on behind the scenes on Sunday in my weekly presidential briefing. Prior to then I will see if I can get a neutral 3rd party to pick gift card winners through some random method.

I am still in the midst of a digital fast but these new responsibilities as president mean that I will be keeping a minimal presence on the site in the following few months followed by a slightly heavier presence.

You guys are in for a special treat and we are going to change the world together.

My sincerest condolences to RM. I have lost a presidential election previously and I know how it feels, but hopefully we can move forward together.

If you vote in this election, I will be picking one random voter to give $50 to regardless of whether they vote for me or RM, this is unrelated to my other offer.

Also, feel free to use this as an election discussion thread, so we don't clog up the voting.

I mean are you retarded or what? When I am going 75 on a road that says 55mph is that too slow for you?

If it is too slow, are you too retarded to notice I immediately start driving 15 mph when you do that and since everybody learns to slow down when a person tailgates, are you really so stupid as to think you will get a different result than what happens every single time you do it?

Why do you tailgating retards almost always have a new Jersey license plate on your car?

Tailgaters, why do you call the cops when I throw my morning coffee at you as you pass to my right? You have to know people get pissed at retards and you are a retard, so what is your thinking here?

This keep is simultaneously being proposed and voted on right now do to the pressing nature of the approaching election. Voting will end January 2nd at 5pm eastern time and is a simple yes or no proposition

FELLOW DARTers-

I hope everyone will participate by VOTING on the following two modest propositions:

PROPOSITION1:

The presidential election should have vote counting done by an independent panel chosen by popular vote which does not include anyone running for president currently and will consist of 3 vote counters. This will be effective immediately at the start of the current/next election

Vote yes or no

PROPOSITION2:

A supreme court should be formed in case there is a challenge to the results of an election, the supreme court will hold the vote counting panels accountable if there is a challenge to the results of the election and the supreme court will be picked by a representative of Airmax which will be the user known as ilikepie.

YES or NO?

VOTING PROCEDURE:

  • VOTING will remain OPEN immediately
  • One VOTE per PERSON, please.
    • Duplicate VOTES will be disregarded.
    • No requests to change VOTE after submission will be considered.
    • Any indication of multi-accounting will be referred to MODERATION
    • Please help promote voting clarity by limiting posts to VOTING ONLY using roughly this format:
      1. YES or NO
      2. YES or NO
    • QUESTIONS/CONCERNS/DISCUSSION/ARGUMENT/CAMPAIGNING are all encouraged and may be posted to new forum threads started by interested parties.
    • For either PROPOSITION, at least 10 users must have voted in the MEEP, and more than a majority of all those voting must have voted for the question or proposal.
      • That means, in practice, that in a MEEP with 10 total voters, the minimum threshold for a binding result is 7 votes in favor of the proposal or question    With 20 total voters, the minimum threshold for a binding result is 11.
      • If either PROPOSITION fails to produce a binding result, no change shall be requested.
      • If either PROPOSTION succeeds, I'll provide that result to DebateArt.com and the MODERATION TEAM requesting that change be completed before the END of 2022.
THANKS in ADVANCE for EVERYBODY's SINCERE and FRIENDLY PARTICIPATION!
