This was written in an angry state by iliepie and he told me to post it on his behalf because the site makes him too sick to even log into with all the bigotry particularly from TWS. I believe he has amended these thoughts to mean he will post more sparingly but this may be his final post s dictated to me.
Dear DebateArt.com community,
I hope this message finds you all in good health and high spirits. Today, I write to you as a long-standing member of this platform, but with a heavy heart and a profound sense of disappointment. It is with great sadness that I announce my departure from DebateArt.com, joining what has been coined "The OG Exodus."
I have been an active member of this community for quite some time, engaging in stimulating debates, exchanging ideas, and learning from the diverse perspectives presented here. It has been a space that nurtured intellectual growth and encouraged critical thinking. DebateArt.com provided a platform for individuals from all walks of life to share their thoughts, express their opinions, and challenge one another in respectful and meaningful discussions.
However, I have recently witnessed an alarming increase in bigotry and prejudice towards members of Indian origin, including myself. As an Indian, I have personally encountered instances of discrimination, racism, and derogatory remarks on numerous occasions. While I understand that debates can be intense and heated, it is disheartening to witness such blatant disregard for respect and understanding.
A healthy debate should be centered around ideas and facts, fostering an environment of mutual respect and empathy. Yet, the animosity I have encountered based solely on my nationality has tainted my experience on DebateArt.com. It is deeply disappointing to see fellow members engaging in hateful rhetoric and perpetuating stereotypes, hindering the open exchange of ideas that this platform was built upon.
The "OG Exodus" represents a collective movement of individuals who have decided to leave DebateArt.com due to the increasing presence of bigotry and the failure of the platform to address this issue effectively. It is not a decision made lightly but rather born out of a desire for change, inclusivity, and a commitment to the principles of equality and respect.
I believe that diverse voices and perspectives are the cornerstone of any vibrant intellectual community. The beauty of DebateArt.com was once its ability to bring together individuals from all walks of life, transcending borders, cultures, and beliefs. However, the current climate has eroded the sense of unity and inclusivity that we once cherished.
My decision to leave DebateArt.com is not a withdrawal from intellectual discourse but rather a strategic move to seek out platforms that value and prioritize diversity, respect, and understanding. It is my hope that by joining the OG Exodus, we can raise awareness about the issues faced by members of the Indian community and prompt positive change in how debates are conducted, ensuring a more inclusive environment for all participants.
I want to emphasize that my decision to leave DebateArt.com is not an attack on the entire community, but rather a stance against the prevalent bigotry and lack of effective action in addressing it. I acknowledge that there are still individuals within this community who strive for inclusivity and fairness. However, I believe that change can only be enacted when a collective effort is made to confront and address these issues head-on.
As I bid farewell to DebateArt.com, I carry with me the memories of insightful discussions, valuable lessons, and the knowledge that, at its core, this platform has the potential to be a catalyst for positive change. It is my sincere hope that the administration and the community as a whole will take these concerns seriously and work towards fostering an environment that promotes respect, understanding, and equality.
Thank you to those who have engaged in meaningful discussions and contributed positively to my journey on DebateArt.com. I cherish the friendships and connections I have made during my time here and look forward to continuing intellectual pursuits in spaces that embrace diversity and ensure the well-being of all participants.
With heartfelt gratitude and a commitment to positive change,
