Transferring the vote is allowed - several people did it earlier and Wylted counted it in his official vote board.

You're not even in danger of getting lynched rn, since anyone who hammers is obviously scum. Just claim.

Ok Austin is reading pretty town again. It's TUF for me.
Honestly... this only makes me more suspicious of you. I pushed back aggressively because I wanted to see how you would react. I find it strange you would drop it so quickly if you were suspicious of me, since you would get a similar response from either town or scum.

Not really.

The role guide wasn't super helpful, since it was just a giant list of roles.

The forum guide was good - it was a clear, simple introduction to how forum mafia worked.

Austin feels like he's posting a lot and adding nothing. Not that I expect him to add anything, but these "currently" posts really are ugly. Anyone else would just change their vote, not announce to the town that they're debating changing their vote. That telegraphing just reads wrong, as if afraid a sudden switch will draw attention.
That's literally selection bias... If I did change my vote, you would accuse me of trying to lynch people until something stuck. If I don't change my vote but noted that I might (as I did), you accused me of "telegraphing." If I didn't change my vote, then you would probably accuse me of ignoring evidence.

For the record, I do find it pretty suspicious that every single post you've made has been trying to lynch some random person.

Although I think that Korea's behavior is suspicious, I also think that we might be tunneling on him too hard for what is a fairly trivial point.

As far as I can tell, the two mafias are perhaps:

  • Pie and Mharman, teaming together to frame Korea (certainly possible, especially considering they're veterans)
  • Korea and Badger, who have had a suspicious lack of direct interaction - Korea is also dodging a lot of questions
  • Lunatic and Korea? Notice how they came to completely opposite conclusions for me, perhaps to show that they're not on the same team

Well, pardon me for not stalking Lunatic's past games /s

Anyway, it all depends on what you consider new. I'll admit I could have made it more clear, but I think I've sufficiently clarified it by now.

@Vader
1. Why did you claim you were new to the game of mafia and assuming Wylted forgot about you as well?
2. How come you did not state "It has been awhile since I played the game of mafia."
3. Why do you suggest that Pie is town for Korea's inconsistencies yet you still town read Korea?
4. How come you blatantly ignored the example of lunatic tunneling Pie for a whole game and stating that this behavior is not the form for Lunatic?
1. I claimed I was new because I haven't played Mafia for a while, and knew I would probably do some silly things. My comment to Wylted was a good-natured jibe because I thought it was funny he mentioned Korea and not me.

2. Because it wasn't really relevant? My past experiences with Mafia haven't been great, and my abilities are probably barely above amateur.

3. Generally I find an aggressive DP1 play a towntell, and I'm more suspicious of lurkers. For the record, I still have my doubts regarding Korea, but I don't think he's an experienced enough player to be so active while not giving away some clear scum tells.

4. When did Lunatic tunnel pie?

How about you two explicitly tell us what you do know and what you don’t know about mafia in general and then forum mafia
I read through the entire Captain America Mafia (that was a fun 30 min), and I've also read the Guide to Forum Mafia and the Mafia Role Guide on DART. I would consider myself knowledgeable enough to know the ropes of this game.

I've played three mafia games before, all on a website called chess.com. Two of the times, I got vanilla townie; one of the times, I got doctor. Town lost all three of the times because of the sheer number of inactive people. That's why I haven't played mafia for a while, but I have high hopes for this one.

IIRC an ideally balanced mafia game is supposed to have roughly 50/50 chances for both sides. In practice tho, due to poor town coordination, mafia wins like 2/3 of the time.

@Best.Korea
No matter how well town reads, the same problem with a 5-3 split remains: all town players need to unite to lynch. A single inactive user or dissenter basically throws the game. 5-2-1 is possible I suppose: idk if we're allowed to ask Wylted if there are third parties.

@Best.Korea
5-3 town-scum would be extremely scum-sided. All five town players would need to unite on a single player to lynch. In addition, if town mislynched on the first day and Mafia got a successful night kill, it would already be a town loss.

6-2 seems far more likely.

I was mostly suspicious because Korea seemed eager to lynch Lunatic, but considering that badger started it and Korea is fairly new, it makes sense.

Time for some good old-fashioned cross-examination. I'll VTL anyone who ignores  (e.g. not replying to this post while being active elsewhere), just for the sake of getting some pressure going.

Best.Korea:

Why were you so quick to label me a townie?

Why did you VTL Lunatic before he had even posted?

Why did you claim a theme when Wylted mentioned that there wasn't one?

Badger:

Why did you VTL Lunatic before he had even posted?

How did you read Korea as town? Seems like a typical townout tactic from scum.

Mharman:

Who do you read as scum right now?

(BTW I know you're sort of inactive, so I'll give you plenty of time to respond)

Supadudz:

Who do you read as scum right now?

Why did you drop your questioning of me so quickly? You were very quick to question, and very quick to drop.

Lunatic:

What gave you the idea that Wylted would assign a noob as Mafia? I know you're experienced enough that you know this doesn't happen.

If your goal is to apply pressure, what are you trying to accomplish? No one else is lynching me and you're only making yourself look more scummy.

AUSTIN / 1: (Lunatic)
KOREA / 1: (Pie)

ABSTAIN / 3 (Mharman, Supa, Austin)
INACTIVE / 1 (Earth)

Current reads:

Korea: IDK (acting pretty towny, but also very quick to label me "town" with rly no evidence)
Badger: slightly scum (jumped on the lynch train pretty quickly)
Lunatic: town (behavior is too aggressive to be DP1 mafia)
Mharman: IDK
Pie: slightly town (not jumping on the lynch train, pointing out Korea's inconsistencies)
Supadudz: slightly town (justifiably applying pressure on me)

Will be AFK for next hour cuz class is starting.

If he is with a user in the mafia discord who has played before for example that user can answer any and all questions easily. - Lunatic, #27
If I was getting info from someone in mafia discord, I would pretend to be an experienced player. So to the contrary, this point is actually in support of me.

For the record, I've been asleep for the past 10 hours... so yea.

I'm kinda suspicious of why you would VTL to me so quickly.

First of all, in your past mafia games, you've never done this. You also seem to trying to start a lynch train on someone who you know to be offline.

Second of all, as soon as two people VTL'd you, you tried to distract by lynching me, rather than pushing back against them.

Third of all, you're an experienced Mafia player. There is absolutely no way you really believe in your line about "assigning noobs to mafia team."

Nevertheless, I'm still reading town on you. Generally Mafia stays pretty low for the first day, so starting a lynch would be a very reckless thing to do.

Anyway, I do want an explanation for why you tried to VTL me, since you are looking awfully sus rn.

@YouFound_Lxam
Just a few questions, since I've never quite understood the story of Adam and Eve:

Did God know that Adam and Eve were going to sin?

If so, does this imply they had no free will in their choice?

If not, does it imply that God is not omniscient?

How could Adam and Eve known that eating the fruit was wrong if they had no knowledge of good and evil?

Since we clearly don't see eye to eye on this, why not put your opinions in the arena? You can challenge me to a debate with a resolution like, "On balance, bribery that benefits DART should be allowed" or something.

@Best.Korea
First of all, it's not a false claim, unless you wanna take it up with the legal system. I believe you meant "non sequitur."

Second of all, I wasn't suggesting that bribery on DART was a criminal offense - I was merely using an analogue of previous precedent in order to show how bribery in a democratic process is generally a negative thing.

I disagree with your "ends justify the means" arguments.

Yes, influencing a democratic process through bribery can be used to accomplish positive things. However, it can also accomplish the converse. Giving gift cards to everyone who votes a certain way could lead to a small minority (the bribers) imposing their views on the majority (people who otherwise would not have voted unless bribed, and people who disagree with the motion). Obviously, a minority having more power than the majority, is, by definition, undemocratic.

Nevertheless, I respect your opinion, because this is a democratic website :)

There's a big difference between favorable policy and bribery. Indeed, it's even been enumerated in US law: bribery is a criminal offense.

I see no issue with "More users on the site" and "Making site more attractive".
I do, however, see an issue with "bribing people in order to influence a democratic process."
