So then are you wanting people to respond to it?  If you post politics online, expect pushback and don't complain when you get it.

R888d615ddf956dd87bdd06f35e9aa3b8 (655×451) (bing.com) is what happens when a government tries to fix poverty by giving people handouts.  The poverty rate stagnates after falling for decades.

So, it reduces until they stop? Or?

I didn't just mean handouts by this thread's title. I meant affirmative action, encouraging cultures to intermingle, fighting against discrimination of many kinds, reducing the stigma on mental health and things along those lines.

Black people and other minorities should not have advantages in the college process on the basis of race.  They got to earn it like everyone else.  Putting a minority in Harvard when they aren't qualified for that (because them like most whites aren't smart enough to go to Harvard) makes them more likely to drop out and not go to any college, which harms minorities in the long run.  It also harms the whites who were unable to get into Harvard despite being qualified because someone else had skin color privilige.  The only people who should go to Harvard are those who are smart enough to go there, regardless of race.

encouraging cultures to intermingle
You mean assilimination, which is something the right promotes more than the left as the left prefers, "multiculturalism" which leads to different cultures in a country which leads to separatist movements, which can cause a war which the left is against, but multiculturalism can lead to wars for independence on cultural grounds.  This is how Austria Hungary broke up.

fighting against discrimination of many kinds
This is vauge.

reducing the stigma on mental health and things along those lines
This is also vauge as being autistic isn't really stigmatized.

They had/have a disadvantage in their earlier years, education-wise and extracurricular-wise to compensate for. This carries through to college and through to the working world (where actually racism itself in the hiring and promotion process needs to be stamped out on top of disadvantages).

Yoy do know affirmative action isn't solely racial right? It also covers income levels within caucasians, sexes (not genders, sexes which is important to know as a trans woman counts as a male, or should do, since it's sexism being battled not genderism, transphobia is a separate metric in affirmative action), the disabled or mentally disordered and such.

You are wrong. The Right has never and will never properly support assimilation. Whether they are the invading culture or the welcoming culture, the Right Wing sipprot segregation and isolation, especially in marriage and socialising.

The lurking variable is black children are more likely to grow up in single motherhood homes, and single motherhood houses are more likely to have kids that don't do as well in school.  They do tend to be more independent though, so colleges can give single motherhood kids an advantage, but it shouldn't be on the basis of race.

The right supports assilimination; which is why they want immigrants to learn English.

This isn't accurate.  The right doesn't care which race you marry or socialize with.

In every single race, ethnicity, culture or religion it is those furthest right-wing that care the most about this and those towards the left that care the least. Those extremely far left sometimes looparound because of their extremist mentality but those even moderately right-wing are already rather ethnocentric. I've never in my life met an exception to that rule. I've met left-wingers who are somewhat ethnocentric but never met a right-winger who isn't, ever. They try to hide it if they're polite but if you're observant of their life decisions and atittudes overall, they are ethnocentric.

Both wings want foreigners to learn the local language but it's true to say that left-wingers are more accepting of extreme accents and language barriers.

They factor in overall parental income especially for first-years. If one parent is earning a lot, they don't factor the single parenting aspect in much however that is a question asked sometimes for student loans. In America it depends which loan provider, they may demand less (or actually more, depending on their approach) interest rate if you answer that or may refuse to give you a loan if they consider you too high-risk. In social democracies where it isn't free to study at university, the loans are government-provided and you only need to pay it back if you earn a certain income level before you turn 50. The catch is that you only get four years of loans, sometimes five if you study through the whole way into Master's or if you study a fuller course like Medicine or Law. Why four rather than three for the bachelor's? They give one year leniency for choosing the 'wrong degree'.

The left/right distinction originates with the  formation of the first French Republic.   Those representatives that felt that human rights should be prioritized over property right assembled on the left side of the court, those who prioritized property rights over human rights assembled on the right.  That is the inherent, fundamental meaning of that distinction.  By definition, democracies are left wing projects.  Monarchy, autocracy, theocracy, oligarchy, supremacy, class, caste, and aristocracy are right wing.

I disagree with this all-eggs-in-one-basket proposition, and all such propositions. Easy target, but poor shooting. In the end, just a waste of ammunition.

Yes, some on  the left want opportunity for all, but some do not. Same for the right. Trying to include all into one side or the other is hieroglyph whispers.

zed, you'll appreciate that idiom, yes?

Actually it was severely so and still is in very right-wing nations and cultures.

It was the left-wing who ensured it was not. I do not know right-wingers who contributed in any significant manner to the reducing of stigma against autism. Mental health issues don't include autism however.

Autism is a mental disorder, not a mental illness, there are a few fundamental differences between the two to do with how they affect an individual and how curable they even theoretically are (it is theoretically impossible to 'cure' autism, you would need to destroy the personality of the individual to do so).

People still use 'autistic' to mean stupid. The term 'retarded' is ironically more scientifically appropriate than the word 'autistic' yet people feel the former is ruder. Autistic people are rarely retarded, it is one of the only disorders where high IQ is actually a common trait (low functioning autism is very rare and when it is diagnosed I reckon quite a few are misdiagnosed 'intellectually hindered' people who are called autistic to save the family shame, I am not coming up with a conspiracy theory, I know some things about the field. I am autistic and my mother has personally gotten to know other parents of autistic people while learning how to raise me and I thank her for that. I will just tell you that some people who are called 'low functioning autism' are probably not autistic, but to save the family shame were diagnosed with it. I do not even blame the psychiatrists who did that, it may be the morally correct thing to do because people indeed are learning not to bully autistic people and also should not be bullying people with severe learning difficulties.

What actual low-functioning autism is, is when the social anxiety and lack of motor skills are so severe in the person it cripples them, autism is associated with high intellect and is the only mental disorder to significantly be associated with such a thing. OCD is the second-ranked disorder with regards to this, ADHD is third place, Schizophrenia is fourth.
