I'll be honest I've been playing some live mafia on some other sites and you can usually get away with last-minute claims (e.g. in a 20 min DP claim 2-3 min before night). Probably shouldn't have tried it here though.
For a 20 minute long DP in live mafia, maybe, but we’re talking about a three day long DP and, specifically, the Miller here. It didn’t work, dude. Whether you knew it was going to fly or not, it’s obviously scummy.
I acknowledged that my claim harmed town. That doesn't mean it makes me scum (scum behavior is harming town while trying to hide it), and I've openly admitted to making a bad call. The problem is that scum are using this opportunity to force a mislynch by encouraging everyone to ignore behavior and let lurkers (which are openly harmful to later DPs) live and killing off active and townread players.
So clearly anti-town behavior, that you actively acknowledge is anti-town, is less important than lurking. I disagree, though this argument seems to be more about what makes the game more interesting and less about why we should scumread said lurkers. Not really a reason to shift targets so much as frustration with activity. Also, who started this wagon again? Was it scum? Pretty sure it was Savant, the claimed Cop.
Again, I know it's a bad call, but it doesn't make me scum and it's suspicious that Wylted suddenly thinks it is. Whiteflame, seriously tell me, what's the difference between me claiming now and me claiming early on? It's mechanically equivalent and I did it because I genuinely believed that hiding my role would have benefited town right up to the point where I thought Savant wasn't going to stop tunneling me.
I don’t think you need me to explain that. Claiming SOP would have made this look far less defensive. I’m almost certainly not alone in thinking that lynching claimed SOP roles is not my default. When it becomes defensive because someone thinks they’re going to be the target of the Cop, especially when that same person says their decision came from trying to bide the NK, that’s a different story. Whether you were tunneled or not, as town, at the very least, you could have made yourself a potential target for scum. You took that away the moment you claimed Miller and made yourself the obvious lynch target by being defensive and sussing people on your wagon who are there for obvious reasons. So yes, it matters, whether you acknowledge it or not.

I’m like 2 pages behind but I am like 90% sure Austin is town. If he’s only being pushed for the miller claim then you should reconsider your vote. I know it seems like I’ve been buddying him the whole phase; but consider the circumstances in which he claimed. He knew this wouldn’t look good for him, and I actually buy the soft claim because I thought him lecturing Casey about his claim so extensively felt a bit wierd so with the added context it makes more sense.
Town Austin doesn’t claim miller here, and it makes sense being worried about savant. Pies mafia usually has a counter to most town roles, I imagine if he was scum he would claim anything else and just roleblock or use some other role to prevent savant. No way mafia doesn’t have a counter to cop. No, Austin is probably not scum. He just doesn’t make this play as scum. Still catching up.

Again, I'm not sure how it's scummy. Scummy behavior is stuff like encouraging a mislynch or town-on-town violence. It's not the same as behavior that doesn't help town. I acknowledge that it was a bad timing of a claim, but it's not alignment indicative.

Again, it was anti-town but there would be no motivation for scum me to do so and draw attention to myself for zero reason. Think about it this way - as scum, the suspicion I would draw from claiming would be far greater than the expected value of suspicion from possibly getting copped. Why the heck would I do this?

I really don't understand this at all. Again, I decided that the utility from me baiting the NK was lower than simply claiming and being honest with my role - so yes, I do feel claiming was the right call, even if I should have done it earlier. And I'm sussing Wylted because of his inconsistency as well as opportunism in the way he jumped on my wagon as an alternative to Earth's.

The way I see it, Austin is being scum read by whiteflame, who Luna and Austin agree is a town player. Austin is being town read by Luna, who may or may not be a town player. If Austin flips scum, we can go after Luna. If he flips town, Luna is probably town as well.

I admitted my mistake and haven't tried to deny it and b. I literally have no scum motivation to do this in that world

Who would you vote for instead, because we have like an hour left. That’s what I’ve been struggling with. Under normal circumstances, no, Austin would not be a lynch, but Earth isn’t much better. WyIted maybe? IDK how they normally play though, and I don’t want to lynch someone based on their scum reads entirely.
