Does this dictate actually mean what it says?

You Shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below”. Exodus 20:4.KJV.

Because to Moses, this lord  then later goes on and gives another  dictate and ordered Moses to make a graven image of a serpent of brass” and it cured the desert wondering Hebrews of.... well other Serpents actions, just by looking at it!

And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived. Numbers 21:1-9

I noticed this serpent is actually taking the role of some kind of physician and  curing people.
Which is something I suggested in my thread concerning the The problem with the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. where at post 25 I state:

Of course it wasn’t a tree at all was it? It was the half brother of this lord that was a problem, he wanted humans to be knowledgeable where as this “god  gods” did not. You need to go back to where this story actually originated, Mesopotamia, and you will read this creation epic in its original form. The two brothers involved are named Enlil and  his half brother Enki the serpent lord<<<<   see that serpent Lord.  Post 24 Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil

I do at times feel genuinely sorry for Christians. Many feel committed by faith to the belief that the bible has all the answers that matter, but pick and choose among those answers and ignoring whatever makes them feel uncomfortable.

Most Christians have, and do profess to want a church that operates ‘by the book’ soto speak yet they dispute endlessly over what their book actually means and disregard the very clear implications of its texts whenever it suits them.
What I have come to realise about Christians is that many are simply unable to discern the difference between explaining and explaining away, or between ideas and ideologies.

To bring up any inconsistency, contradiction or an anomalous verses  is completely anathema to Christians.
Saul of the New Testament who became Paul, for instance, can never seem get his story straight concerning his Road to Damascus moment, if we are to take the scripture seriously.

Acts 9:4 King James Version (KJV)
And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

 Acts 9:7
And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

Acts 22:9
And they that were with me saw indeedthe light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake tome.

Acts 26:14
And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

Yes, this, ^^^^^^^^^ from one of the founders of the early Christian Church

Christians will usually put these many inconsistencies down to irrelevant minutia while totally ignoring the fact this apostle  supposed to hearing the voice of a dead man “risen”and all is supposed be a “ god inspired” gospel truth.

To begin with, just the name of this deadly life threatening tree puzzles me. Good and evil:  The reader is introduced to two trees specifically:
Genesis 2:9 King James Version (KJV)
And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 2:17 King James Version (KJV)
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Why Wouldn’t the lord not want us to “eat from” this tree that not only held knowledge of evil, but also of good?  Why Doesn’t this lord want us to know good?

Why was this tree created in such a way that it held knowledge of both evil and good? Why not simply two separate trees: one good, one bad?

And Although it was of this forbidden tree that they ate from and  eventually  were sentenced to die; the Tree of Life didn’t lose any immediate problem.
But the noticeable thing here is that once this couple had “eaten” from said tree they become wise. They had had their eyes opened by a so called “serpent” or mores thecase, on the face of it, a much wiser honest god that the one who said they would die.
I am reminded here that Jesus talks somewhat admirably about serpents being wise and instructs his disciples to imitate them:

Matthew 10:16 King James Version (KJV)
Behold,I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

It appears then that this Lord of Genesis wanted us only to know what he wanted us know, and not a thing more: kept in the dark and ignorant.

It seems the wise ole’ snake had done mankind a great big favour.

Part (1)

This has to be the strangest story in the Gospels: the “raising” of Lazarus.

From beginning to end it is vague, ambiguous and at one time just plain silly.

It has Jesus not being able to make up his mind and not seeming too bothered about this person he “loved”. It has suicidal followers and confused women and there are even hints that it all could have been a staged affair.  And in my opinion for this story to be included in the scriptures it has to mean something other than the “miracle” the gospellers want us to believe it is.

The first thing anyreader of the gospels will notice is that this “miracle” appears only in John’s Gospel although, it is now known that the story once appeared in Mark's gospel but has since been expunged. So here, right away, we have a why? And a why?

It begins with Lazarus falling sick and his sister Mary (the one who had anointed Jesus Earlier) sending word to Jesus of the “sickness” and who had decided it was a nice day and would take a stroll down to the river Jordan for the day which was about a mile away. John 11:1-3 KJV.

On arrival they blurted out that Lazarus “who he loved” was sick. Jesus’ response is somewhat dismissive with him saying Lazarus is not going to die and decided that there was no urgency to Lazarus’ “sickness” and decided to extend his holiday down by the river for another two days and even contemplated taking an excursion into Judea were it was known that the Jews wanted to “stone him”. 11:4 -8.

Jesus then makes comment about a man stumbling around in the dark

But then tells his disciples that Lazarus is asleep and then he tells them “plainly” that Lazarus Is now dead!
11 These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death:but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly,Lazarus is dead.
So above, so far we have Lazarus, sick but not in any critical danger of dying, Jesus not worrying too much about and tarrying & dallying a further “two days longer”. Lazarus“asleep” and then, Lazarus is dead  which is in  complete contrary to what Jesus said at verse 11:4. He is not going to die.

How did Jesus even know that Lazarus was dead? When they were still at the river location?

Then there is this enigmatic and ambiguous statement from Jesus himself:

“And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him”.11:15. ?????

“And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there” ?

Why was he “glad”? And why for their sakes”?

“to the intent ye may believe”?

“Believe what”?  This Is beginning to sound all put up in advance.

Still, they“go to him”, the now dead Lazarus.

But not before saying this enigmatic and outrageous statement:
“Let us also go,that we may die with him.”!!!!!? 11:16
Yes, you read that correctly. These apparent suicidal disciples or at least one, wanted to “die”with Lazarus!

Why?  They were one minute having a nice relaxing tarry and a chat down by the river where there was no sense of urgency about his “sick” friend who he “loved”, next minute, this disciple suggests he and all those that were there should go die too.

And it simply has to be recognised; that there are absolutely no mentions or indications at this point that Jesus is even contemplating raising Lazarus from the dead!  Or even spoke of raising the dead Lazarus or anyone else.

InLuke’s gospel we can read about the “joy” of the disciples because Jesus hadendowed them with great powers by all accounts:

One dayJesus called together his twelve disciples[a] and gave them power and authority to cast out alldemons and to heal all diseases. Luke 9.
In factthere are 18 verses where authority to cast out and of casting out devils arementioned. I won’t list them all unless asked to do so. But we can safely saythat beyond doubt that the disciples were granted and di use this power ofcasting out devils/demons.

And the seventy [disciples]returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto usthrough thy name. Luke 10:17.

We than get to thebetrayal and  The Last Supper where weread;

The deal to betray Jesus.
“Then Satanentered Judas, surnamed Iscariot how he might betray Him” Luke 22:3.

The Last Supper
“And afterthe sop (dipped bread)Satan entered into him”.John 13:27.
And the story goes Judaspopped out to betray his lord giving away the location where he can be foundand arrested ect ect.

I think the questionby know should be s glaring. But for those who do not want to face this, yetanother, anomaly as glaring as it is, one has to ask;

Why didn’t they castout the devil that had entered Judas? And strangely, nowhere in the bible doesanyone pray for Judas or the devil come to that. The devil, by all counts, wasstill one of god's creations too, after all.?

The reader shouldkeep in mind here that the deal to betray Jesus was struck before the lastsupper.

Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon andAndrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And Jesus saidunto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.  And straightway they forsook their nets, and followedhim. And when he had gone a little farther thence, he sawJames the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the shipmending their nets. And straightway he called them: and they left theirfather Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him”. Mark1:16-20.

Are they being serious!?

Are these gospel writers really  expecting us to believe that these people who didn't even know Jesus, would just "straightaway" forsake their nets
just drop everything leaving  their homes, jobs andfamilies and lucrative businesses on the word and whim of a stranger  and  follow a stranger around the countryside, deserts and wilderness preaching about  something they didn't understand or had ever heard of, without a word of inquiry?

We read of John and what he is and will grow up to be.

"But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God." Luke 1:  13-15

So here we have a man who is great in the eyes of god and who, it also says, was filled with the “holy spirit”..
John is beloved by many to have been the forerunner to the Christ Jesus.

Some 30+ years pass and John finally makes his appearance as a fully grown adult and introduced as someone crying in alone the wilderness, telling anyone who will listen to repent because one greater than he is to come.

John story continues : >
"The next day John saw Jesus coming towards him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is the one I meant when I said, “A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.” I Myself did not know him
, but the reason I came baptising with water was that he might be revealed to Israel.’"

Then John gave this testimony:‘I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. And I Myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptise with water told me,“The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptise with the Holy Spirit.”
I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen one. John 1:29-34.

I will scratch at these verses later but for now it suffices to say that John had recognised Jesus ( his cousin) immediately,  as the “lamb of god”, “the one he meant”,and “the one that was to come”, and “the one prophesied about”.. And to add to this, all of John’s beliefs are definitely confirmed, John says, by a spirit dove coming down from heaven and perched itself on the lamb. John is without doubtfully convinced that all the requirements of the coming of this lord have been fulfilled.  And after a few words John proceeds to baptise his cousin Jesus (who he says he didn’t know).

We then leap to Johns arrest and imprisonment, where John who converses quite a lot with his captor Herod, something quite strange happens. John, who himself is filled with “Holy Spirit” and of who it is said was “great in the sight of the Lord” either has a complete and serious memory lapse or a great shadow of doubt descends on him.

Because, for all of the his drum banging about “the one to come”, “the lamb” and seeing “doves from heaven” these feelings of doubt concern him enough to, well, let’s read it:

And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? Luke 7: 19

Can it be even possible that, for a man such as this man who is filled with Holy Spirit” and of who it is said was “great in the sight of god”, could had made such a dire mistake and gross error?! This Was a man who it appears was immaculately conceived for the very purpose of going before and forewarning about, identifying and baptising Jesus the Christ, the saviour of the world.

And one has to notice he is not punished for doubting.

John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

Luke 24:36-40 King James Version (KJV)

36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
So here is the risen Jesus. Nice

37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
Why were they so scared, had he not taught his close inner circle the mysteries of resurrection?  Hadn't they expected their lord to be resurrected? surely they understood the practice, they had witnessed the raising of lazarus, had they not. Still, we read on:
38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
Exactly, why were they "terrified and affrighted". Why were they so troubled?

39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it isI myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye seeme have.
So it is made clear by Jesus himself that he was not a ghost,  alive not dead, still on earth and not yet ascended". But it is the last part of this verse that puzzles me most: he instructs them, his disciples,  to "handle me and see" ! But hadn't earlier  told Magdalene  "touch me not: for I am not yet ascended"

40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.

And when we return to John's gospel, there is also the story of " doubting Thomas".
Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing John 20:27
Yet this is the same Gospel where we are told earlier that Mary couldn't touch her master for he had not ascended?

Occasionally the New Testament often expects its readers to suspend the laws of nature and expects its readers to accept without question what is being conveyed and the conception of John the Baptist is yet another one of those occasions.

The story goes that the old and aged priest Zacharias is going about his priestly duty in the temple one day and out of the blue an "angel" (messenger)appeared to him with news that his old and aged and barren wife will  soon be hearing the patter of tiny feet.

And, as would any normal mere mortal, Zacharias queried ;>

Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.

And for simply asking this obvious question, this poor devout priest who had served his god for years was told;>

And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

Where does Zacharias once call this messenger a liar? he doesn't.  Where does this poor priest even doubt this messenger? he doesn't. Where does he even dispute this miraculous event? he doesn't.

The whole story surrounding the Baptist is as strange and puzzling one from start to finish.
So why was this old devout priest  Zacharias "struck dumb" and his poor old aged and barren wife forced to "hide herself away"?

Corruption, radicalisation, illiteracy & poverty werejust a few of the problems of Pakistan that Imran Khan promised to tackle and “solve”and the promises that he got elected into the office as Prime minister of Pakistan, on.
Yet in typical fashion of most the world’s politicians heseems to have back slid and made it a “priority” that blasphemy laws will be enforced.
In his maiden speech Khan said he intended to raise the blasphemy issue in the United Nations and wouldwork to achieve a common stand within the 57-nation Organization of IslamicCooperation (OIC).

Pakistan, asmany may know, is one of the worst countries in the world if one happens to be Christianand to oppose blasphemy laws is without doubt a death sentence and findingevidence for this one doesn’t have to look no further the case of Asiabibi  and Salmaan Taseer who was  murdered.
Asia Bibi blasphemy case involves a Pakistani Christian woman, AasiyaNoreen better known as Asia Bibi, convicted of blasphemy by a Pakistani court, receiving a sentence of death by hanging in 2010. InJune 2009, Noreen was involved in an argument with a group of Muslim women withwhom she had been harvesting berries after the other women grew angry with herfor drinking the same water as them. She was subsequently accused of insultingthe Islamic prophet Muhammad, a charge shedenies, and was arrested and imprisoned where eventually a Sheikhupura judge sentenced her to death.
Salmaan Tasseer was a Pakistani businessman and a liberalpolitician who simply asked the court to show mercy to this young girland he was murdered by his own bodyguard for having the audacity to ask such athing for someone who was convicted of “insulting the prophet”.

Some Pakistanis had believed they were getting change whenthey elected Khan, but it seems to be a case of – if nothing changes, thingswill remain the same.  His decision to enforce blasphemy laws has been hailed  widely hailed across Pakistan and encouraged in Saudi Arabia. When will these barbaric uneducated backward Muslimssimply grow up and realise that killing someone for being or thinking differentisn’t peaceful or benevolent?

BREAKING Dutch Politician commits suicide after being gang raped for speaking out against Islam (08/08/18)

The politician the victim refers to in this video had recently converted to Islam and she opposed him and had fired him in the past.
" we will cut your neck and let you bleed slowly because you keep fighting Islam".

And does this sound familiare to anyone?

"everyone should know, the police have failed and the Politicians have failed".
