I"m 23 (almost 24) years old from Maryland. I am a music major and play piano, organ, and vocals. On a religious spectrum I am a Conservative Jew and politically speaking well to the left.

Hi all -

So on debate.org there was a debate voting club - a group of people who would make sure each debate gets at least one high quality vote. These members can also be contacted if you wish to setup a judicial voting debate. 

I hope that such a group can encourage more high quality debates and high quality votes. Of course you do not have to be a member of this group to cast a vote.

This is an update to the last post about the homepage. As we were discussing some things about it, we are considering redesigning the entire site to create new features and to get away from the DDO-esq feel. 

I have two concepts I want to present to the community:

The first link I really love the homepage layout. The homepage, as others mentioned, should have dynamic content to it. The latest activities will feature the latest debates and we'll have a list of new members and featured members as well. 

The second link I also really like. One thing we are thinking of adding is the ability to add friends and create groups. A twitter-like profile page could enable you to create status updates, add photos, and possibly have a space for your own personal blog. 

Again, these are just concepts and we are not going to implemented it exactly. We want to throw it up to the community for discussion.

I've been working with Mike on some administrative stuff and one of the things we have been talking about is redesigning the homepage. Right now the homepage looks like crap and we want to make it better. I want to turn it over to the community to get some feedback.

From a progressive/socialist POV, I believe the Obama administration was an utter failure and a total disgrace to the country. Obama expanded the unconstitutional surveillance state and expanded NDAA, started illegal wars in Libya in Syria, failed to reign in big banks and the thugs who trashed the economy, droned a wedding and hospital that killed innocent children, assassinated an innocent 16-year old with his father, failed to reign in mass incarceration, utterly failed with Obamacare, and up till the Trump administration was the "deporter in chief." 

If we want to move the country to the left, we need to be intellectually honest with the Obama administration. If Obama were a white Republican and did all those things, Democrats would have impeached him and would have marched through the streets to oppose his illegal wars. 

Republicans by and large stayed silent on these issues because they supported Obama's most evil policies. Instead they focused on "phony scandals" such as Benghazi.

With several debates in the debating period, I think it is a good idea to start discussing voting standards. @DebateArt.com, what will voting actually look like? I see we have an option for open voting or judiciary voting.

I like the standards that are on DDO, but at the same time I don't think you need to write a 5 paragraph essay on why a player won a debate.

This thread is for moderators to announce requests their need for a replacement of a player in a game that they are moderating, and for interested players to find games in which to replace into. The only people who should be posting in this thread are game hosts who need a substitution. Players should not be posting in this thread.

hello! I am virtuoso, aka ThinkBig. I am looking forward to participating on this site. It looks really clean and asthetically pleasing. 

The only feedback/suggestion I have is to narrow down the forum categories until there are more members and more content. Having a half empty forum doesn’t really look that good. Do we really need a category for fashion, cars, and people etc?
