Imagine the same situation with the party affiliations switched around.
This is all part of a tu quoque fallacy in any case…
Biden asks news media to cover the Bogus impeachment inquiry

MAGA Moron objects claiming the request is inappropriate

MAGA Moron dismisses support for Biden’s action by saying “imagine if the Republicans did that”

A point is made that conservative media does do that all the time citing the example of FOX NEWS hosts attending Trump rallies

@Double_R
Tu Quoque would have been committed if I were claiming right wing media did the same thing as your example which makes this legitimate. That’s not what I did. I pointed out how what they did during the Trump years was 10x worse and yet you seem to have no issue with it. In other words, you’re being a hypocrite. That’s not an ad hominem BTW because it’s an actual argument with a premises, logic and a conclusion that you yourself seemed to have arrived at if this is where you got that from.
Yours is somewhat of a textbook example:

Tu quoque (/tjuːˈkwoʊkwi, tuːˈkwoʊkweɪ/;[1] Latin Tū quoque, for "you also") is a discussion technique that intends to discredit the opponent's argument by attacking the opponent's own personal behavior and actions as being inconsistent with his argument, therefore accusing hypocrisy.”

Actually, it is more of a pathetically desperate attempt at a tu quoque. In other words, it doesn’t even rise to the level of a tu quoque fallacy (!) because you are merely assuming I have never had an issue with what you describe. You need to check some dates— when I started on this website, and when the last presidency ended. The object of your obsession hasn’t been president for 3 years now.

Thread topic: A Whitehouse memo to a receptive media

You: But, but Trump and Fox tho!!

You are too much, man. That, or not nearly enough; I can’t decide which…

A Whitehouse memo to a receptive media
Um, what proof do you have that the media was “receptive” to the memo? Or are you just assuming they will be receptive?

You: But, but Trump and Fox tho!!

Note that you wondered what the problem is when a Democrat Whitehouse issues instructions to the media, whereas you definitely see a problem when it is a Republican Whitehouse.

What does that make you?

Also, reported for blatant name calling

You didn’t even apply the fallacy correctly

I would have to reject your argument because of your own personal hypocrisy to be called a tu quoque fallacy.

Double R rejected your argument Biden did something wrong because Trump inappropriately used the media at his rallies.

Double R would have to reject your argument because YOU inappropriately used the media yourself to be called a tu quoque fallacy

FYI, reporting posters isn’t usually my style. I make an exception in your case because you first reported me (and it was a false accusation, I might add). So, if you judge reporting others as “crybaby” behavior, perhaps you should take a long look in the mirror?

Any transgression from the left is a necessary evil; at least, that's my working theory on how the hypocrisy dissonance is resolved among Biden supporters.

It’s not a transgression. That’s like saying all Press releases are evil.

The Biden White House is within its rights to bring a topic to the attention of the press.

It’s nothing like the blatant collusion between Trump and FOX News

Note the goalpost shift redefining a press request as a "press release"

Noted. Another tactic to resolve the dissonance of hypocrisy is to accuse someone else of hypocrisy. In this case, me! Yet the real point here is about a conflict of interests and the ideal of a free, independent press. The refusal to acknowledge this via dodginess, whataboutisms, TDS, and a general lack of objectivity has made it about hypocrisy, alas.

Right, Biden publicly brought a factual narrative to the attention of the press and said “WTF, are you guys going to report the facts?”

Trump on the other hand, would have daily private phone conversations with Sean Hannity and invite the FOX flunkies to speak at his rallies.

Which one of these is really the inappropriate act?

And do you understand how you failed to accurately apply the tu quoque fallacy? Do you understand I would have to disregard your argument because you personally did something contrary to your argument?

When was the last time the Whitehouse sent out a memo to various press agencies issuing suggestions over their coverage of an issue involving the President? According to another poster, this is not at all remarkable, so it should be readily found in past administrations. Take all the time you need.
