In 1996, E Jean Carrol was allegedly raped by Donald Trump. When she went public about it years later, Trump called her a liar. He called her a liar as President and he called he a liar as an ex-president. Then he called her a liar on-line today as the case is in court.

He’s being sued for defamation, just like FOX News was and settled for 787 million dollars after discovery went very badly for FOX.

1st off, I believe he did it. I believe he lied about it. But let's not pretend the circumstances are the same. 

Fox repeatedly said disparaging things about dominion. These things were provably false. Both dominion and fox themselves had evidence the things they were saying were false. And fox had many emails and texts they sent back and forth which proved not only that these were lies, but that they knew they were lies both before, while and after they said it. 

They are very different situations. Fox was absolutely screwed. Dominion had them nailed to the wall. By the time Fox settled the only questions were how much Fox was going to pay and how long it would take.

My point was Republicans are deplorable, not that the cases are similar. And I will be reminding Republicans about the FOX lawsuit for years and I’ll laugh and laugh. Because FOX felt obligated and pressured to lie because their viewers are dummies. That’s why it is so funny.

Republican politicians are also under pressure to say stupid things and things that are false because their constituents are dummies.

I mean, I personally have heard him say that as a wealthy man he can sexually assault women. So I don't see any reason to doubt that he has done the thing he said he has done.

Yeah, it would be better if he was charged with the rape. Sadly the statue of limitations had run out on the rape charge by the time she came forward. So she had to go with the defamation case of him calling her a liar about the rape.

in her defamation case, yeah pretty much. She needs to prove that trump defamed her when he said she was a liar. For him to sue her, he would need to prove she is a liar when she says he raped her. So he would need to prove he didn't do it if he wanted to sue her.

no idea. It certainly will be a tough case to prove. We'll see how it goes. along with the 5 other criminal investigations he is under and 5 other lawsuits he is facing.

He called her a liar.
She is suing him for defamation because Trump said publicly the rape allegations are a lie.

What you are missing dummy, is it depends on what is  truthful.

In reality, as opposed to how conservatives think, truth is important.

So a woman can call a man a rapist if he raped her, even if she can’t prove it in court.

And calling someone a liar, when they are telling the truth, is defamatory. So now it will go to court and a jury will decide who is credible.

And calling someone a liar, when they are telling the truth, is defamatory

The punishment for rape used to be marriage. No idea why they changed that.

Some women are not even capable of telling the difference between rape and sex, and some run around with false claims.

This is why we have the notion of 'innocent until proven guilty' in any functional criminal justice system. Mere accusation isn't sufficient to warrant conviction, and allowing accusation to have such enormous power leads to people making false accusations to shut-down people they don't like.

You shouldn't allow the criminal justice system to become a weapon of the malicious.
