My brother and his wife are both retired veterans and they would never suggest people don't arm themselves. Their experiences led them to believe the government's capable of anything.

It takes a genuine moron to compare gun deaths to deaths by car. There's tragedy and then there's atrocity. Gun deaths are the latter. No human is going to want to dismantle all civilisation and industry in fear of death. We live our lives. What's unacceptable is the wilful taking of that life by another.

3 Trump dummies for sure.

There is no difference between intentional gun use to kill and drink driving or driving into a crowd. There are accidents with both cats and guns that produce injury and/or death. It's totally reasonable

when all else fails resort to ad hominem attack and rush to declare victory
Do you believe this TWS105 guy? He was a Corporal in the Army and then a bounty hunter and he thinks he’s Frasier Crane.
I’m guessing he “retired” at 45 either on disability or nobody would hire him.
He has a blog that shows how he suffers from White Fragility and status anxiety.
First, I was not a corporal in the US Army. I was a Specialist in a position that put my rank (and position) above yours, Military Police Investigator under C.I.D.
Second, I was never a "bounty hunter."
Third, I do not "think" I am "Frasier Crane."
Fourth, you can guess all you want as you will always be wrong. I retired from a County District Attorney's Office, having prior worked for the County Sheriff for a little more than 6 years.
Last but not least, your intellectual cowardice knows no bounds. That blog does not show anything about me but more about you and those likeminded.

Though it has already been pointed out, I will add to it...you're a hypocrite accusing me of doing exactly what you just did.

Noticed that the two people arguing for gun control are ex-military with guns, who if ordered by the government to kill citizens they would obviously do so and want to be able to do it without citizens firing back.
Hope you're not referring to me in that statement. I am arguing against Roosevelt, not in support of his ignorant opinion.

Any soldier, past or present, who would shoot/kill their fellow citizens would be a disgrace to the uniform/Armed Forces.

I'm a veteran, and I don't support tyranny.
Any current or former member of the armed forces who engaged armed combat does or has done so by instruction of the State. And given the United States imperial ambitions over the last century (though its just carrying out its directive as the globe's predominant military) I'd say chances are, you participated in a tyrannical military campaign.

Both my eldest and my younger--not my youngest--brothers are veterans, too. And I expressed to them the very same thing (not to mention, I had no appreciation for the investigations into my family conducted by the Department of Defense.)

It neither is now nor was it ever my intention to hold it over your head. I presume we've all had our share of mistakes, which I self-servingly call "lessons." And I'm quite the learned individual myself.

An army specialist is a junior enlisted rank in the U.S. Army and is equivalent in pay to a corporal. The rank of specialist is an E-4 position that typically involves basic management duties as well as commanding lower-ranked soldiers.

People serving in the military swear an oath to the constitution, not a military or political leader. They are taught to not follow unlawful orders given by any superior.  They are taught to refuse unlawful orders and then let the UCMJ sort out who was right in court.

If the US military was going to start killing citizens because the government ordered them and it was a lawful order, it wouldn’t matter how many AR-15s they had. They would lose badly and they would lose very quickly

I know perfectly well that a Specialist and Corporal are an equivalent pay. You said I was a corporal; I was not. I corrected you. You were wrong. End of story.

Notwithstanding, my position as an MPI under CID placed me above you while on duty, which was 24/7. So, your rank means nothing.

According to Crime Research, 94% of all mass shootings happen in gun free zones. [1]

Additionally, according to a 2016 DOJ survey, 89.7% of all criminals did not obtain their guns legally or through official channels. [2] so if gun control did anything, it wouldn't be so easy to buy a gun illegally.

Furthermore, in states where gun control was laxxed, like in Florida, the murder rate declined. [3] Other states were Michigan [4], Texas [5], and

And you want to try more gun control?

According to Crime Research
John Richard Lott Jr. (born May 8, 1958) is an American economist, political commentator, and gun rights advocate. Lott was formerly employed at various academic institutions and at the American Enterprise Institute conservative think tank. He is former president of the Crime Prevention Research Center, a nonprofit he founded in 2013. He worked in the Office of Justice Programs within the U.S. Department of Justice under the Donald Trump administration from October 2020 to January 2021. Lott holds a Ph.D. in economics from UCLA.

-Wikipedia

ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO GET YOUR INFORMATION FROM THIS GUY?

He has a PhD in economics.
He worked for President Donald Trump, albeit for only 4 months.
He wrote a paper claiming there was evidence of fraud in the 2020 absentee ballots in Georgia and Pennsylvania.[72] A 2021 PNAS study by political scientists at Stanford University and the University of Chicago rebutted Lott's paper as being not even remotely convincing, writing that his analysis was "entirely dependent on the completely arbitrary order in which pairs of precincts in other counties are entered in the dataset" and that his conclusions about voter fraud were "utterly baseless."[72][73][74]

Can you name any mass shootings where the weapons used were not obtained legally?

The Uvalde and Buffalo shootings? No

The Sandy Hook shooting? No, the 20 year old used his mother’s AR-15, killed her first, then went to the school and killed 20 children and 6 teachers.

The huge shooting in Las Vegas? No. 60 killed, 413 wounded.

You see, the problem here is the people who commit mass shootings aren’t typically criminals (or recognized as crazy) until AFTER they kill a bunch of people. So saying that criminals will always find a way to get guns ignores the fact that for mass shootings the people using the guns only became criminals after they committed the mass shooting.

You obviously are delusional. A silly little man who could never become a commissioned officer in the Armed Services but tries to tell anyone who will listen that you were very important. Then as a civilian you couldn’t even qualify as a police officer so you became some kind of clerk bounty hunter.

It's called commonsense. One simply cannot gather the town's citizens and ask them to join the militia if they have no weapons to fight with.
What you consider common sense is irrelevant. That’s not how we interpret the constitution.

There is much talk in the federalist papers about the militia’s, how they would be organized, what their responsibilities would be, how they would size up against a tyrannical federal government, etc. I can find nothing in it suggestive of the idea that the militia’s they talk so much about were to be made up of every Tom Dick and Harry who decided to pull a gun out of their shed at any point. That’s why I ask. As far as I can tell this idea is purely made up.

I don’t think TWS is capable of reading the Federalist Papers, let alone understanding it’s very difficult style of writing.
In fact I doubt he knows what the Federalists Papers are or who wrote them.
