For sure, family is one of those words that lacks precise definition. Though the more detached from the nuclear family one gets, the more the family becomes just a group of individuals. Often only bound by oppression and fear, which do not necessarily guarantee loyalty.

And military organisations and mafia only exist because of lack of consensus in society.

And I'm not sure if right and wrong or agreement are the issues as far as the individual is concerned, I would suggest that it's more a case of survival instinct. Therefore consensus isn't necessary.

The appeasement of human nature is not really work, is it?

The way that the Church is structured relative to social doctrine, is inevitably self destructive because it seeks to suppress human nature.

Fine for the Sunday morning hat brigade, because they can go home, do what the hell they like, secure in the knowledge that the have been temporarily absolved of their sins.....Until next Sunday.....Unless they have been extremely naughty and require a bit of midweek absolution of course.

Not quite so easy for Father Ted.

By telling  Father Ted and Bishop Len Brennan that they must be celibate.

As I stated, most practising Catholics are only practising Catholics when they are practising.

Of course some do take it very seriously.

Such is the variability of  human nature, in it's response to institutional oppression.


Married practising Catholics have the most fulfilling sex lives.
