(you maybe right, but if I was drafterman I would anticipate you knowing this o.o.c. and change it for that very reason :)  also you haven't actually verified he's a vampire yet, right?)(but assuming it's a traditional vampire, given the state of the church it wouldn't be difficult to let in day light)https://goo.gl/images/UDVTcc

(You mean adding something in independent of those two like proposed earlier or something else?)

(No, but all signs point to vampire. Can be verified easily anyways. Care to volunteer? 😏)

(I would make my own version of a vampire so the characters would have to actually find the weakness, much of the fun imo is discovery.  So I would make them vulnerable to something like salt which I would have a reason and explanation for, something like that.  With some thought and work it could be figured out, sleuthing is fun :)  )

The priest sighs: A year ago an adventurer came to this valley. Like you he preached about getting rid of evil, getting rid of Strahd. He proved himself to be a great wizard. He riled up the villagers and they assaulted the castle. None of them returned. We thought them dead. I despaired until he returned, my sweet Doru. But he was the monster you hear. I managed to lure him into the undercroft of the church and trap him there, but I know of no way to save him save for prayer. I have do not have access to that kind of magic.

Well that complicates things. It seems like Strahd turned your son. Strahd might hold the key to reversing this. Or else we might be able to find someone who has such revival abilities around here. Did the wizard ever give a name?

What do you know of Old Maggie?

(the pastry lady always just disappearing out of view is a pretty big hint fmpov that she might have magical abilities. Perhaps she might have a revival scroll?)

As far as I know, she's just an old lady that sells mince meat pastries. Plenty of the town folk swear by them.

(we should only dispatch the son when it's the only option left)
(how long has he been down there, does he try to get out?)
(can he make holy water?)
(if it's a traditional vampire, we can get mirrors from the shop keeper, might be able to arrange them in a manner as to contain him a bit better)

(Not sure if mirrors do anything and are probably expensive. They might just not have a reflection in them and that's it.)

The undercroft is pretty secure, it's held my son for the better part of a year. I can make holy water, but it requires powdered silver and I don't have those ingredients.

(@Drafter-  how much gp worth in silver pieces is needed to make the silver dust required for holy water. If we get a file could we powder the silver that way?

@Earth- But uhhhh, we fucked up and didn't grab the aspergillum from the ritual chamber in the house. It's the sprinkler thingy for applying holy water.)

Good, we shall be back then as we need to procure powdered silver and rest. We shall be back tomorrow or sometime shortly thereafter.

I turn to Eikka and Grahf

Shall we go find the rest of the group? It's dark and I think we can all agree resting here is... undesirable.

I begin walking out of the church, casually flipping my hand as I exit simultaneous to the large image of a sunburst, golden and radiant, appearing above the altar.(minor illusion cantrip cast)

(We have the silver. We need a file if filing silver to get dust is allowed. Which I don't see why not? That's one of the actual ways to do it in RL. Ismarcks seems as good a place to find one as any.)

(@Budda: You need 25gp worth of powdered silver. Which would be 250sp. You guys have about 70 actual silver pieces between the lot of you.
@Earth: I just want confirmation that you actually looted the church)

The priest goes back to praying fervently as the party leaves, paying them no heed. They can hear banging coming from the trap door leading to the undercroft as they do so. When they reach the town square, they see an old lady pushing cart.
