Don't know but I'll probably live decades longer than you. Zud will probably protect me just to put off deciding what to do with my soul... I'll miss you, you know, when your dead.

Can I ritual cast detect magic on the chests? If so, do it.

The group strategizes and finds a way to safely open the chests. Between Grahf's detect magic, and Eikka and Snerp's visual inspections, they find nor detect anything dangerous out of the ordinary.

[Eikka Perception Check: d20 (12) + d4 (3) + 4 = 19]
[Snerp Perception Check: d20 (6) + d4 (1) + 2 = 9]

With the go-ahead, Roberts makes short work of the rusty padlocks, revealing the chests contents:

  • A pouch made of human skin containing 11 gold pieces and 60 silver pieces.
  • Three moss agates each in a folded piece of black cloth.
  • A black leather eyepatch with a carnelian sewn into it.
  • An ivory hairbrush with silver bristles.
  • A silvered shortsword.
The hallway in the southwest corner of the room leads south, with two branches heading further west.

(I'm gonna put this out there cause I was thinking about it. Earlier when Earth examined the tomes outlining the rituals in the secret room, he found they were useless, no?

A cult worshipping a deity while performing useless rituals? This sounds like it's not a deity at all, and perhaps a very strong creature such as a lich or a vampire masquerading as a deity... just some food for thought.)

  • Three moss agates each in a folded piece of black cloth.
(Eyes for a statue maybe? The key component of one of the Osybus rituals? Please use identify on these, these kinds of gems can be enchancted and/or cursed)
  • A silvered shortsword.
(This could mean werewolves, vampires, or lich. All three would be weak against silver, no?)

( lich's are known for semi-precious stone use, particularpy green gems, but not emerald. They use them to carry curses and also for storage of souls, if I recall correctly from my experience in previous editions. Vampires also use them for protection via enchantment. If enchanted with protection, prolly vampires, if curse, probably lich, if souls, definitely a lich )

I suggest we handle those stones with great care and caution. Do not touch the stones directly

I repeat, do not touch the stones directly, only handle them through the cloth.

(I really am sus'ing hardcore on there being a lich afoot)

(if by metal AF you mean a curse that could be anything under the sun from temporary incapacitation, permanent loss of attribute points, to death? I agree, that's would be metal AF)

(I really hope they're not Gorgon Stones, cause they could be. And if so, by touching them you just got yourself petrified. I think Gorgons have 3 eyes too 😓.)

(although...

@Drafter- if magical items are too high a level to identify, they show up as mundane(non-magical) no? If a magical item is also too high a level/the roll fails on detect magic, it shows up as mundane, no? Mundane meaning non-magcal)

I take the tomes out of my pack and drop them while laughing,

These tomes are useless to me. If you are carrying too much, might I suggest not picking up every object worth at least a single piece of copper Grahf? 😂😂

Haven't you already inspected them and found them to be useless? The useful stuff was the 3 scrolls for Eikka 👌)
