The other alternative is, Trump dies soon.

Let us hope, so we can get started early on the JD Vance dynasty. Maga squared.

And the US is Canada's arse.
After Trump became President, if God wanted to give the world an enema, he'd definitely stick it in the US, specifically Mar a Lago.

Then you get Vance (who probably would want to annex Canada as well if the overton window allowed for it (which right now, it does)).

Pretty much. Add them and their values, and ours will be subverted. Canada as a whole isn’t just more leftist than the US, they’re also less libertarian.

Having the US fall by annexing Canada?
Having the US fall because it is so incompetent it can't even figure out what it should be focusing on. We have real world problems we could be addressing. Whether we should be annexing Canada is not one of them.

so imagine his delight as he watches our collective IQ sink to the bottom of the Potomac.
I don't know about your IQ, but mine is 142.
Great, now use that 142 to Google the definition of "collective".

We are a country now that can't even agree on who won the prior election
It was Biden.
Great, now tell the president and the 70 million Americans he seems to have convinced otherwise.

I've had the belief for about a decade, but Trump allowed me to express it with weight behind it.
You continue to prove my point. That's exactly what Trump does. And while you might think annexing Canada is a great idea and are glad Trump is empowering you, he's also empowering conspiracy theorists, racists, and ignoramuses.

You said yourself that Biden won in 2020. Are you not bothered that half the country actually believes that election was stolen? And do you really believe that would be the case if not for Trump?

Without him giving voice to and normalizing the stupidest people among us and the stupidest ideas imaginable, none of these things are even up for discission.
If you don't like debating ideas, then get off of DART.
Have you seen any of my posts on this site? What on earth makes you think I don't like debating ideas?

I don't like the fact that all there is to debate are stupid ideas. We're getting to the point, and many would say we're way past the point, where we as a country even can debate anymore. We live in totally different planets.

It is beyond irritating to the point that even I sometimes feel the need to give up because the absurdity of Trump supporters is so bad it's like trying to argue with my dog. He is by far the most prolific liar in the history of American politics, yet they believe he's the real truth teller. He's the most thin skinned child we have ever seen and yet they think he's the embodiment of strength and manlihood. He's a literal criminal and they think he's a victim. He's an autocrat who they think is here to save our democracy. He's a Manhatten billionaire and they think he's the voice of the little guy.

I had no intention of going on that long but it all kept coming to my head because it runs so deep. That's what is stopping or ability to debate. We used to be able to work on algebra, now we're back to 2+2. It's appalling.

How do you define, "libertarian"?  Weed is legal federally in Canada (as is blue America).  Canada is a knock off of blue America basically.

There are ways around that though (like merge New England to become one state as well as Maryland, Delaware, and NJ); you can annex the area and spam the rural areas with a bunch of libertarian leaning Hispanics, Asians, and Carribean immigrants (I know them; they're very libertarian) to help make the area more libetarian.

Solving a political problem is easy if you want to.  For example, there is no such thing as, trying to "end LGBT hate laws".  You either do it by signing some documents or you don't.

Great, now use that 142 to Google the definition of "collective".
Well why is the IQ of America falling?  If it's failing schools, then you can easily fund those more with a swipe of a pen.  It's not, "trying".  It's doing or not doing.

Great, now tell the president and the 70 million Americans he seems to have convinced otherwise.
Their minds aren't getting changed, and that's fine because Jan 6 is old.

And while you might think annexing Canada is a great idea and are glad Trump is empowering you, he's also empowering conspiracy theorists, racists, and ignoramuses.
People say Trump is racist over deportations.  Trump's an honest racist; Harris was saying, "Protect our undocumented community" and then deported more people than Trump.  I prefer the scary thief that steals $50 from me over the petite looking woman that steals $200 from me.

Are you not bothered that half the country actually believes that election was stolen? And do you really believe that would be the case if not for Trump?
I'm as bothered with election deniers as I am with everyone dying.  It sucks that it's reality, but what you gonna do?

Have you seen any of my posts on this site? What on earth makes you think I don't like debating ideas?
The following quote you made:

none of these things are even up for discission.
People you think are stupid are going to say ideas that you think are stupid; it's par for the course if you debate politics.

I don't like the fact that all there is to debate are stupid ideas.
What do you think would be the good ideas to debate about?

He is by far the most prolific liar in the history of American politics, yet they believe he's the real truth teller.
Trump is a liar; so is every politician.  Trump might do it the most, but if I say, "1 lie is too much", then I exclude every politician.  The alternative is saying, "X lies are too much" and X will be arbitrary.

He's the most thin skinned child we have ever seen and yet they think he's the embodiment of strength and manlihood.
This is correct; I'm not a MAGA cultist; yes; Trump should get a thicker skin.

He's a literal criminal and they think he's a victim.
I thought they dropped the charges.

He's an autocrat who they think is here to save our democracy.
I think we will have elections in 2028 whether Harris or Trump was in office.  To terminate the constitution, you need 3/4 of the states, and Trump doesn't have that.

He's a Manhatten billionaire and they think he's the voice of the little guy.
Oh; Trump does not support the little guy.

I had no intention of going on that long but it all kept coming to my head because it runs so deep. That's what is stopping or ability to debate. We used to be able to work on algebra, now we're back to 2+2. It's appalling.
Well, keep in mind, you've seen me criticize Trump enough here, you know I'm at the algebra stage and not the 2+2 stage.

Now, what would be wrong with annexing Canada?  What does it mean to be Canadian on a macro level?

Yes, it's really easy to solve political problems... If you're a dictator. When you are a democracy and you have those pesky rules in place to ensure adherence to a constitution and the protection of rights for all, it's gets far more complicated.

Great, now use that 142 to Google the definition of "collective".
Well why is the IQ of America falling?
Because we as a society do not have the checks in place anymore to ensure those who have a platform to reach millions of people know what they're talking about.

Yes I'm talking about the internet broadly and social media more specifically. But Trump has now taken that to a whole new level. He was tailored made to make us dumber - an complete imbecile who is likable and through a combination of inherited wealth, a massive ego and the work of his reality TV producers has been built up for decades to be seen as a successful genius. Then this imbecile goes out and says the stupidest things, and in so doing gives the morons among us the validation they need to not only believe it, but to idolize him for being the only one brave enough to speak out. No, he's just the only one dumb enough to believe the things he says.

And now that he has amassed this cult following, public officials to stay in their gif graces now have to pretend the things he says aren't stupid at all which only further validates the people who think these things and reels otherwise reasonable people in. It's a downward IQ spiral.

I'm as bothered with election deniers as I am with everyone dying.  It sucks that it's reality, but what you gonna do?
Not empower the people out there spreading this nonsense.

What do you think would be the good ideas to debate about?
How we're going to bring down the price of groceries. How we're going to reverse the wealth gap trend where now 80% of this country's population are scrapping over 7% of the country's wealth. What our immigration *laws* should look like, etc.

Not whether we should annex Canada, or how we're going to get rid of all this [non-existent] voter fraud.

Trump is a liar; so is every politician.  Trump might do it the most, but if I say, "1 lie is too much", then I exclude every politician.  The alternative is saying, "X lies are too much" and X will be arbitrary.
So what? The fact that the line we draw on what's "too much" is arbitrary doesn't mean we don't draw a line and it certainly doesn't mean we pretend that someone who lies more isn't worse than someone who lies less.

And no, it's not "Trump might do it the most" it's that Trump is in am entirely different category of lying than anything we've ever seen.

They dropped the federal charges, and that's only because he won the election.

He's an autocrat who they think is here to save our democracy.
I think we will have elections in 2028 whether Harris or Trump was in office.  To terminate the constitution, you need 3/4 of the states, and Trump doesn't have that.
Russia still has elections. You have an incredibly naive view of how democracy's fall apart.

This video is old but might help.

Well, keep in mind, you've seen me criticize Trump enough here, you know I'm at the algebra stage and not the 2+2 stage.
I'm not talking about you, it's a generalization.

Now, what would be wrong with annexing Canada?
You have to be kidding me.

Would you have a problem of Russia made us part of the Russian federation against our will?

When you are a democracy and you have those pesky rules in place to ensure adherence to a constitution and the protection of rights for all, it's gets far more complicated.
Not really.  How hard was it for states to put in mask mandates in 202 if the state was MA (a state that wanted them)?  Very easy.

Politicians campaign on problems they delay to solve because it's electorally sucessful.

Because we as a society do not have the checks in place anymore to ensure those who have a platform to reach millions of people know what they're talking about.
So what's your solution?  Because, yes, Fauci is a more reliable source of science information than RFK if he's pure; but he might not be pure; he might be bought out.  You have no clue.  Now, RFK can be corrupt, but RFK doesn't have the trust that Fauci has.  You disagree with Fauci on science, you're crazy.  You disagree with RFK on science; it's your opinion.

Not empower the people out there spreading this nonsense.
Sure, but if they say something I like, then I'll give them credit (and if they say something stupid, then I'll criticize them for it).

1. Free trade (which I generally support except for Canada which is until the US annexes them, but I digress).
2. I'm indifferent about income inequality.  I'd rather have Person A have $1 million and Person B have $500k than have them both have only $10k.
3. Abolish ICE.
4. The US should annex Canada; it's a new topic.  Some topics are new.
5. Voter fraud is not an issue in 2020 or 2024.

The fact that the line we draw on what's "too much" is arbitrary doesn't mean we don't draw a line and it certainly doesn't mean we pretend that someone who lies more isn't worse than someone who lies less.
If Politician A lies 1002 times and Politician B lies 1000 times, then assuming every lie was equally bad, Politician A isn't that much worse here.  I would also argue not all lies are equal; quantity matters, but so does intensity.  It's too arbitrary; so I'd rather not indulge.

And no, it's not "Trump might do it the most" it's that Trump is in am entirely different category of lying than anything we've ever seen.
I would be unsurprised if he did it the most, but how much compared to other politicians annually.  You would also have to measure for intensity as well (which is very arbitrary).  Is it worse to say the vaccines cause autism or no state in the US legalizes elective 9 month pregnancy abortion? The left winger would say #1, the right winger would say #2.

They dropped the federal charges, and that's only because he won the election.
Why would this be relevant unless it's a concession?

This video is old but might help.
Trump isn't the only on that attacks the press and courts.  The left does this with Fox News and the Supreme Court on Roe.

Would you have a problem of Russia made us part of the Russian federation against our will?
Yes because we don't speak Russian.  Canada:

1. speaks English (even Quebec is majority English fluent).
2. Borders the United States.
3. Has only policy differences that are easily accommodated under the 10th amendment.

No, it's more proof that you don't read anything you respond to. You just see buzzwords like "dictator" and concoct the rest of the response in your mind.

Remy made a comment that solving political problems is easy, so I pointed out that it's only easy if you're a dictator. Nothing about that common sense response has anything to do with Trump or any current affairs. It's a statement about the reality of having to work with other people who often disagree with you. You would have figured that out of you had bothered reading what I wrote. You know what, I'm not even sure why I'm still typing, clearly this is too many words and you've already tuned it all out while your mind works overtime to invent the next strawman.

If there's widespread agreement then it's not a problem in need of being solved.

Because we as a society do not have the checks in place anymore to ensure those who have a platform to reach millions of people know what they're talking about.

Real world solution? I don't have one. Fantasy solution? Kids should be taught epistemology and critical thinking in school. That would go a long way but republicans stand in opposition to that. Gee I wonder why.

The fact that you talk about Trump's lying as "well maybe he's worse" is mind boggling.

Like I said earlier, Trump's lying is on a whole new level from anything we've ever seen. He lies about everything from big things to silly things, and he does it with not only no commitment to reality but not even a commitment to consistency. Sam Harris had probably the best takes on this I've heard which is that he distinguished Trump as being not a liar, but a bullshitter. The former sounds worse, but the latter is actually way worse.

A liar is someone trying to convince you what they're saying is true. That takes work and failure leads to consequences for that person. To avoid those consequences the liar has to work within the truth. Bullshiting is about destroying the very concept of truth, it's about asserting yourself as being impervious to it and empowering your followers to do the same.

Lying tends to contain itself only to the issue at hand. Bullshiting, especially when done in this fashion as Trump does, destroys our ability to even have a conversation with each other. And it might sound the way I've described it like bullshiting leads to less deciept because it's out there in the open but that's not true at all. Once the very concept of respecting the truth is gone people are more free to say whatever they want whether it's true or not so people don't even know who to listen to anymore and everyone becomes less and mis educated.

There is no one in American politics like Trump. There is no comparison.

They dropped the federal charges, and that's only because he won the election.
Why would this be relevant unless it's a concession?
What do you mean? I called him a criminal and you replied asking didn't they drop the charges, the implication being that if they dropped the charges he's not a criminal. So to that point the reason they dropped the charges matters.

Trump isn't the only on that attacks the press and courts.  The left does this with Fox News and the Supreme Court on Roe.
Classic Bothsidesism.

The left doesn't call the free press the enemy of the American people nor does the left reflexively dismiss any verdict they don't like as the product of corruption or partisan bias without any thought the way Trump does.

Did you watch the video? Is that really your take away?

the Russian federation against our will?
Yes because we don't speak Russian.

Maybe don't use the word "dictator" so flippantly then. It makes you sound unhinged and radical when every other word you use is abject hyperbole.

Left wing media is paying dearly for 8 straight years of "the worst thing ever"
Don't fall into the same habit if you don't want to alienate people.

Kids should be taught epistemology and critical thinking in school. That would go a long way but republicans stand in opposition to that. Gee I wonder why.
It makes kids easier to control and it reduces taxes for their donors.

How many lies did Trump do vs the generic politician in a 4 year term?  Trump probably did it more, but how many lies is too many lies?

Oh; so you saying Trump is a bullshitter makes him worse than a liar?  I don't think Obama ever went to bullshit level degeneracy.

What do you mean? I called him a criminal and you replied asking didn't they drop the charges, the implication being that if they dropped the charges he's not a criminal. So to that point the reason they dropped the charges matters.
How I interpreted it is the "deep state" (I don't know a better term) tried to push all these false accusations about Trump.  Now from my perspective, the accusations might be right or wrong, so give him a trial.  But I heard he is accused of committing r@pe.  If this is true, then he did it in some year (I heard 1996).  If a r@pe case for him takes 15 years (Diddy needed 7, Epstein needed 11), then why wasn't Trump convicted in 2011?  That makes me think it could have been staged.  The left dropping the cases because Trump's POTUS to me seems like, "We tried to bullshit the American people into thinking Trump r@ped; they didn't buy it; we will stop making these accusations because it failed".

The left doesn't call the free press the enemy of the American people nor does the left reflexively dismiss any verdict they don't like as the product of corruption or partisan bias without any thought the way Trump does.
They do that with Fox News (they call it the, "conservative media").

How widespread are you talking about?
Enough to enact the solution.

How many lies did Trump do vs the generic politician in a 4 year term?
The Washington Post tracked it at over 30k lies over the 4 year term. We don't know exactly how that compares to other politicians because no politician has ever lied so much to the point where anyone needed to track their count.

Trump probably did it more, but how many lies is too many lies?
It's not about the number, it's about what their lies say about them.

Someone who lies about having an affair is just trying to cover up their own embarrassing behavior.

Someone who lies about their record is trying to escape their past without taking accountability for it.

Someone who lies about what they intend to do once empowered is trying to con people into voting for them and then not deliver on their promises.

Someone who lies about everything, including the most obvious things is either completely disconnected from reality (a polite way of saying they're crazy) or they simply do not value the concept of truth itself.

All 4 of these are bad, the last use in a whole different category of bad for reasons I've already explained. In many ways though, the ambiguity of the last example is part of Trump's superpower. The fact that we don't know which one it is actually helps him politically because it muddies the water to the point where neither accusation sticks to him. You call him crazy and someone else says he knows what he's doing. You call him evil and nefarious and someone else says he really believes what he's saying. You can't have a verdict without clarity.

Trump is like a bed of nails, any one of them would puncture your body but when there are so many of them then none of them have the ability to cause that kind of damage. It all just gets lost. The man is so terrible that he becomes unrecognizable, and if his terribleness is not recognizable then it can be rebranded as something else. I think that's exactly what has happened here.

I don't think Obama ever went to bullshit level degeneracy.
Not even close. That's the difference between Trump and any other politician (although many are trying to follow in his footsteps); if Obama tells a lie her can be confronted on it and if it's shown to be a lie he would feel forced to admit it. With Trump is you catch him in a lie he just makes even more shit up and then attacks you for daring to call it out.

The former is like playing basketball with someone who swipes at your arm and accepts when you call foul. That person you can play a game with. Trump is like someone who tackles you like he's playing football, then when you call foul he pretends there's no such thing as fouls and berates you for being a pussy. No basketball game there is possible.

In politics, the game is supposed to be that we debate or differences and we win by pursuasion. Trump isn't playing that game. With Trump it's about power pure and simple, this is why he leans into violence - because that's where that game is ultimately resolved. The more he destabilizes our country with this the closer we come to full scale political meltdown.

That's why Trump's lies are a whole different category of worse.

That's why Trump's lies are a whole different category of worse.
Over the course of five decades, Donald Trump has been accused of sexual assault, tax evasion, money laundering, non-payment of employees, and the defrauding of tenants, customers, contractors, investors, bankers, and charities. Also filed 6 bankruptcies. Trump paid 88.5 million to E.Jean Carroll for raping and defaming her. Trump was charged with paying hush money to porn stat Stormy Daniels to keep secret their sexual encounter while Melania was pregnant with Barron. Trump's false or misleading claims total 30573 over 4 years .
Trump has been impeached twice, indicted 4 times with 91 felony counts. Ordered to pay 88.3 million dollars for sexually assaulting and defaming E.Jean Carroll. Trump was fined 464 million dollars for business fraud and is in court for paying a porn star Stormy Daniels hush money to keep her silent during the elections. Trump's false or misleading claims total 30573 over 4 years Trump has been charged with tax fraud in Chicago to the tune of 100 million dollars. Trump has also been accused of making America great again.
Now Trump wants to make Canada the 51st state to make America great again. He cannot do it without Canada.

Enough to enact the solution.
Context: MA doing mask mandates in 2020.  There may have been 90% consensus for it; but there are 90% agreement on a lot of issues that aren't law.  I would assume that if you ask people, "Should a r@pist be allowed to sue their victim for child custody", then I would think virtually everyone would say, "No!".  But it's the law in 20 states I think.

The Washington Post tracked it at over 30k lies over the 4 year term. We don't know exactly how that compares to other politicians because no politician has ever lied so much to the point where anyone needed to track their count.
Opinion | Trump’s Lies vs. Obama’s - The New York Times states that Trump lied way more than Obama.  Like, it's not even close.  If someone only cared that their POTUS told the truth, then I could see them voting against Trump.  But then would you do a, "lesser evil" analysis or just boycott all elections because every POTUS lies?  Now, 124 a year for Trump vs 2 per year for Obama is obviously worse for Trump, but at least for me, if the truth comes out, then I think the penalty for a POTUS being caught in a lie should be around 10 seconds of national embarrassment because they got caught.  Fact checkers I heard will disprove every lie.

Someone who lies about everything, including the most obvious things is either completely disconnected from reality (a polite way of saying they're crazy) or they simply do not value the concept of truth itself.
This makes a lot of sense.  This lie is just abysmal.

That's a really good point.

But, yes, we agree Trump is bad.  Hitler was also bad.  Hitler was a vegetarian.  It doesn't make vegetarianism the same as the Holocaust.  Trump saying we should annex Canada is not the same thing as him saying any election he loses is stolen.

How do you define, "libertarian"?  Weed is legal federally in Canada (as is blue America).  Canada is a knock off of blue America basically.
Blue America is not libertarian lol.

In America, you have greater rights to speech and arms… I’d argue those are more important for a libertarian country than legalized marijuana.

That's the point I was making at the outset. I said it's easy to solve problems when you're a dictator because you don't have the hurdles to jump through as you do when you are operating in a democratic system of checks and balances. It's not always ideal, but it's way better than an entire society being subject to whatever one man thinks at any given moment.

Trump saying we should annex Canada is not the same thing as him saying any election he loses is stolen.
Difficult to tell, but I think you were expressing this as a point of agreement. And I would agree mostly, but felt the need to reiterate just in case the point I made about the lie itself being far less important than what the lie says about the individual spreading it. Trump's annexation of Canada obsession is deeply concerning because it speaks to either his stupidity, or his utter lack of concern for global stability. Either way, that should be disqualifying by itself and would be disqualifying for any other politician. But for Trump it's just a Tuesday. The double standards are egregious.

Lol, china and Russia and North Korea are not gonna launch nukes over US annexation of what would be the equivilent population of California.

Canada isn't the lynchpin for global security, and never will be. Wherever you got that idea from, you need to go back and ask for a refund, asap.

China will wait for Canada to defeat America like they did in hockey before China tries to annex America.
