By mismanaging the Covid-19 pandemic that led to over 1 million Americans dying

“one important reason for this financial improvement (of Medicare) was grisly: Covid killed a substantial number of Medicare beneficiaries. And the victims were disproportionately seniors already suffering from severe — and expensive — health problems. “As a result, the surviving population had spending that was lower than average.”

What explains the American way of death? A large part of the answer seems to be political.
One important clue is that the problem of premature death isn’t evenly distributed across the country. Life expectancy is hugely unequal across U.S. regions, with major coastal cities not looking much worse than Europe but the South and the eastern heartland doing far worse.

This is so pathetic. Trump is insecure and indulges in victimhood like a child.

Poor Donald, he gets blamed for everything he does. The entire justice system in the United States became corrupt as soon as Trump became President.

Remember the judge in the Trump University fraud case also hated Trump.

“Former president Donald Trump’s attorney Joe Tacopina said Sunday he doesn’t believe the judge who oversaw Trump’s indictment is biased, contradicting days of Trump’s attacks in which he declared that the judge “HATES ME.””

Trump was always quick to say lock them up. But he doesn’t think he should answer for his illegal conduct. Hypocrite!

Trump has advocated for the prosecutions of each of the last four Democratic presidential nominees — every single one since 2004. In two cases, he did it during the campaign, even suggesting they should be ineligible to run.

The vote was 5 to 4

The justices who voted in favor were

Kennedy - appointed by Reagan
Roberts - George W Bush
Scalia - Reagan
Alito - George W Bush
Thomas - HW Bush

The court's ruling effectively freed corporations and unions to spend money both on "electioneering communications" and to directly advocate for the election or defeat of candidates (although not to contribute directly to candidates or political parties).

Chris Burchett (R-UT) As I’ve stated, in this country, we’re a sick nation. We are a sick nation. We need to repent and, honestly, we need a revival. It’s made a lot of people mad that I’ve said that, but it really is — there’s no other answer for it. I think, you know, they come back to me and say, ‘Burchett, you know, look at what your prayers have done for us.’ And the people doing the praying aren’t the ones doing the shooting, ma’am. And it’s it’s just a very unfortunate situation. And there’s no easy answers. I don’t know. Repenting of your sins and having some sort of reform in this country seems to me to be the way we’re going to have to turn this thing around because we have some very sick, evil people doing some very vile things. And revival seems to be the way to go for me. But I realize their hatred towards me and my beliefs. And that’s fine. It’s America, we’re allowed to do it. But I do believe revival is the answer, and I pray for it every day.

In the Senate, Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) is blocking more than 150 Defense Department nominations because he objects to the Pentagon’s abortion policy — and is prepared to block hundreds more. He is jeopardizing the leadership of crucial military commands and making the military “far less ready than we need to be,” Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin testified this week.

So obviously we shouldn’t have any restrictions or laws with regard to explosives.

Anyone should be able to go to Home Depot or Ace Hardware and buy all the dynamite, C4 and nitro they want. Because those explosives are relatively harmless on their own - it’s  only when people get involved they become a hazard. Freedom!

So, where to begin.

First, when will Americans finally concede that there is no good reason for citizens to own semiautomatic rifles with high capacity magazines?

Second, so much for private schools being a safe haven from liberal public schools run by the states.

Third, red states are no better at controlling gun violence than blue states and more guns are definitely not making people safer.

Lastly, the shooter was a Christian woman shooting up a Christian school. So forget the theory this country would be better off if we just had more Christian religion in our lives.

They must have taught the class on women’s suffrage after she dropped out.

The federal debt is causing “more suffrage for the American people,” said Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), who presumably meant “suffering.”.

EVERYBODY KNOWS I’M 100% INNOCENT, INCLUDING BRAGG,” Trump said on Truth Social, referring to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. “BUT HE DOESN’T CARE. HE IS JUST CARRYING OUT THE PLANS OF THE RADICAL LEFT LUNATICS. OUR COUNTRY IS BEING DESTROYED, AS THEY TELL US TO BE PEACEFUL!”
Do Trump supporters ever grow tired of Trump’s ridiculous hyperbole?

Over the years Trump has made statements including

“I’m the least racist person you could ever meet”
“It was a perfect phone call”
“I won in a landslide”
I’m the healthiest President in history
I had the largest electoral win in history
I had the greatest economy in history
Our country is being destroyed
and now, I’m 100% innocent

Have a clue people. I know Trump supporters are dumb, but at least stay somewhat grounded in reality.

Lawyers for the former president had argued that the material being sought was protected by attorney-client privilege, which in most instances shields any communications between a lawyer and a client. Prosecutors responded — and U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell ultimately agreed — that the “crime-fraud exception” to attorney-client privilege applied in this case, people familiar with the matter said.
As part of Howell’s ruling, Corcoran was ordered to give the Justice Department notes, transcripts of recordings, and invoices in his possession, according to a person familiar with the matter, who said the judge has reviewed that material and concluded there was evidence suggesting Trump may have misled his own attorneys in the classified-documents matter. The details of Howell’s ruling were first reported by ABC News.

Imagine being one of the losers who supported and continues to support this guy.

You can’t make this stuff up. The sordid lives of Republicans

Carlton Huffman’s reputation suffered a major blow earlier this year, when his past racist writings were exposed by an anonymous email account. Huffman had frequently glorified the Confederate flag, blamed Black people and illegal immigrants for violent crime, and called for “preserving the European American culture of the United States.” Huffman immediately resigned from his job with the North Carolina General Assembly in late January after the email with links to his commentary was circulated.

Trump had 2 Secretaries of State in his first 2 years - Rex Tillerson and Mike Pompeo. Tillerson, who was CEO of Exxon, had zero government experience and lasted just over a year. He famously called Trump a moron. Pompeo also had zero government experience when Trump first tagged him to be Director of the CIA and then as a replacement for Tillerson. Pompeo had been an Army Captain, a lawyer and a businessman before leading the CIA.

Trump had 2 Secretaries of Defense in his first 2 years - General James Mattis who resigned after just under 2 years in office and Mark Esper who was eventually fired by tweet just 15 months later. After Trump lost the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden, Trump launched a months-long effort to subvert the election outcome and remain in power, falsely claiming that the election had been "stolen" from him.[89] In his subsequent memoir, published in 2022, Esper wrote that Trump's effort "was a national embarrassment that undermined our democracy, our credibility, and our leadership on the world stage."

In an open letter published in September 2022, Esper and Jim Mattis,  as well as a bipartisan group of former top U.S. generals and former defense secretaries, said that the failure to commit to a peaceful transfer of power worsened "an extremely adverse environment" for the U.S. military.

On the other hand:

Biden has had Antony Blinken as his Secretary of State, a man who had decades of experience in the State Department and National Security positions.

Biden has had General Lloyd Austin as his Secretary of Defense.  He was confirmed by the Senate in a 93–2 vote on January 22, 2021.[56] Republican senators Josh Hawley and Mike Lee were the only "no" votes.

“…there is a compelling argument that Pence’s use of the speech and debate clause is inconsistent with the clause’s purpose, which is to insulate members of Congress from pressure from the executive. It might also be argued (as retired judge Michael Luttig has) that Pence’s role on Jan. 6 was purely ceremonial, not legislative, and thus the speech and debate clause does not apply. After all, Pence himself argued that day that he had no legislative authority to nullify the electoral votes”

“Other scholars are even less tolerant of Pence’s argument. Constitutional experts Laurence H. Tribe and Dennis Aftergut argue that because Pence’s own prosecution is not at issue, he has little basis for resisting the subpoena. “Unfortunately for Pence’s claim, the Supreme Court ruled in 1972 that the clause does not ‘immunize a Senator or aide from testifying at trials or grand jury proceedings involving third-party crimes where the questions do not require testimony about or impugn a legislative act,’”

It’s official, the GOP is no longer trying to cut or kill the two great Democratic entitlement programs. Biden the puppet master pulled the strings and had Republicans standing and applauding for the two entitlement programs created by FDR and LBJ on national television during his SOTU speech last week.

Now, Rick Scott (R) Florida revised his plan to exclude the two big expenditures from being defunded with all other federal spending. SS and Medicare account for 25% of annual spending. This is proof that Socialism is fine as long as it benefits white middle class people and not just poor people, especially poor people of color.

“…the cost-of-thriving index (COTI), which starts from a simple premise: Americans must prioritize five sets of goods when providing for their family. That includes food, housing, health care, transportation and higher education. Those who can pay for those needs without worry can enjoy some luxuries without risking their children’s future”

“The news is sobering: In 1985, it took 39.7 weeks of work each year to pay for these things, giving families plenty of room to enjoy other consumer goods and luxuries. But today, it takes 62.1 weeks of work to cover the same expenses. In other words, about 40 years ago, the median American family could enjoy a middle-class life on one earner’s paycheck. Today, it takes two.“

In 1965, the year I was born, so not exactly ancient history, a football star on the Kansas City Chiefs could not find a house to buy in the suburbs of Kansas City. There were plenty of houses for sale, the player made good money, and there wasn’t anything wrong with his credit score.

The problem was he was black.

“Future Hall of Fame linebacker Bobby Bell says he looked at more than 200 houses for his family in the mid-1960s, getting denied by realtors and bankers who refused to underwrite his mortgage. Head coach Hank Stram, who was White and lived in a planned suburb in Prairie Village, Kan., made calls on Bell’s behalf to no avail. “You couldn’t do anything,” Bell said. “They didn’t want to take you.”

“players proposed building an integrated apartment complex that featured central air conditioning and a pool shaped like a football. The city council denied the plan over zoning issues”

“Bell eventually bought a house in Prairie Village in 1968, after a White man purchased it and rented to Bell until he could find a willing mortgage underwriter. Shortly after Bell moved in, a White neighbor showed up at his door with a flier organizing a protest against him”

-  When my father and in-laws die in the coming years I will inherit over a million dollars worth of real estate. Imagine the effect not being able to get a mortgage for a house has had on generations of black families. It’s a disgrace. And this is why reparations for black families should be explored.
