What was the statement in the garden referring to? Enlighten me.
The bible also states that he was crucified for the whole W-O-R-L-D. I'm not sure what Jesus was referring to when he said that. Again, enlighten me.
If by Christians, you mean catholic, then you are correct. The bible never mentions the celebration of Christ-mass. Point is, the idea that December 25th being an argument for you has no relevance since the bible doesn't support Christ-mass.
Serious, as in realistic. Not something that is a scheme like Jim Jones, Waco Texas, aliens, etc. I'm trying to narrow the category so I don't get a "well, some guy in Idaho says he's the messiah" thing.

Before the Christ there have been many dying and rising gods born of "virgins"
Stephen, if there are similarities to the birth of Christ, it is because the messiah was prophesied after the fall in the garden. (Bruise your heel, crush his head) The story spreads as does humankind across the globe. Same reason there are so many flood stories.
If you have a society in turmoil but there has been a promise of one day suffering will end when the messiah comes, then it makes sense that all religions will have some sort of messiah in their repertoire. There is no mention of God talking to others in the world and giving them enlightenment like Abraham, BUT the wise men seeking Jesus from the east knew to follow a star to the house. How far east were these Magi and where is the star prophesy in the bible? There apparently were other people that were told of the coming messiah since HE was for the whole world, not only for the Jews.
So the fact that there are stories of a saving avatar of God coming is not uncommon. Also, these gods are recycled myths from the previous civilizations, so they are not necessarily independent of each other.
BTW, Jesus was not born on the 25th of December. Look it up.
Are there any recent serious religions that show the context of a messiah after the birth of Jesus? I haven't found one but it would mean to me that the messiah notion is no longer given by God.

Do you remember the good ole days, IwantRooskies?
The days that we didn't have to pretend that men could have babies?
Remember when we all knew what a woman was and that Time magazine actually picked a woman for the "woman of the year" and not a trans?
Remember when drag shows were for weirdos and not for kindergarten kids?
Remember when gays stayed in the closet and didn't announce a song that states "we are coming for your children"?
Remember when politicians actually debated and didn't stay in underground bunkers and still win an election as the "most popular president in history" or become the AZ state Governor?
Remember the days when our children were not pressured with sex surgeries in school without the parents knowing?
Remember the days when we only had 2 genders?
Remember the days when the police could do their job without having to be afraid of riots because a convicted criminal couldn't follow orders and was on too many drugs to stay alive in the simplest environment?
So much has happened since the good ole days. I wish it were only moon pies and RC cola.
The political left has inspired more nonsense than any conservative movement could ever think up. The idea behind the progressive movement is that it doesn't bring new ideas to the table. They only destroy the old ways of doing things. The left is anti-God, anti-family, anti-parent, anti-moral, etc.
The only thing they are "pro" on is their own salty feelings.

I've said this over and over again for the "orange man bad" people. Another nothing burger coming from the media. This is all political targeting and grasping at straws to try to nail someone that they are afraid of. The media is portraying this to the brainless people out there that will look at this theater and think Donald Trump is a criminal and a threat to society.
He is no different than the Biden (Chinese endorsed) Crime family, the Clinton death family (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cLdwfbVCIg) and the Bush family elites pulling the strings for their own benefit. The only difference here is that Trump is not a politician so he doesn't play by their rules. That makes them mad.
It was stated in the very beginning that they were going to impeach Trump. Remember "Impeach 45! Impeach 45!" just as he got into office? Good ole Chuck Schumer said "Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community — they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you,”. They had it out for him from the get go.
Hello?! McFly! They are targeting this guy because he upset the apple cart.

I take the bait for the loaded question to see where this goes, and say, Yes. It is moral to force a woman to keep a baby full term against her will.
I will, however, tag onto that answer: provided that the woman is not in danger from the pregnancy and that the product of the pregnancy is not rape or incest.
She should take responsibility for her actions. Period.
I have taken all you had posted and that is where my assuming comes from. Maybe I have been reading you incorrectly. My only point in my whole discussion with you is that there is a vast majority of abortions that are not emergencies or life threatening or from criminal beginnings. But it seems that abortion advocates focus only on that and never bring up that most just throw away their babies for very selfish reasons. This is not women's rights. This is women's "wrong".

Semantics, but okay. You can call him Amen.
Just because the words are the same does not mean they are the same meaning in different languages. I will keep this "opinion" to myself.

Come on. It's a prayer to a God. Anyone who is religious will say something very similar to their God. The fact that it has ONE word that is the same in a line does not mean it was copied or plagiarized.
Do a quick search for the God Amun (not Amen). He is the God of the air. There is a God Amun-Ra, who is a high deity.
Hebrew word Amen means truth, or certainty. The name Amun means "the hidden One" in the hieroglyphics. Completely different ideas for it.
There is no connection.

Why is a war between two corrupt governments any of our business to get involved period? I understand innocent people are dying, but this is happening all around the world. At some point we, the USA, has to let the rest of the world take care of themselves. One reason we are intervening is that if Ukraine can wear down the Russian forces enough, then Russia becomes too weak to be a foe. Another is that there can be a HUGE money laundering scheme through Ukraine. Either way, the US government is using the lives of others for their own gain.

Underdog, I do not vote for a party because I whole heartedly believe in everything they do or say. You have to make a decision based on what will benefit you and your family. DO NOT let either party suck you in to think it is your moral obligation to support them. Almost all politicians are liars and cheats. There is actually a way to tell when a politician is lying, . . . their mouth is moving. I line up more with the republican ticket than democrat. I held my nose when I voted for Donald Trump the first time. We, the American public, are set in such an awkward position to have to vote for one bad politician so we don't get a worse one in office.

I am going to agree with the ones that state that a college education does not mean you are smart. All schools were made to indoctrinate it's pupils, whether it's conservative or liberal. The problem is that society has pushed that a college degree means you are so smart when in reality, you can retain information. Most of school is a parrot type of system. They give their lesson, you regurgitate it for the test.
If IwantRoskies is referring to smarts, then he needs to figure on wisdom, the ability to use those smarts in its proper application (definition is mine). Do a little research about the public education system and you will find social engineering all through it.
Colleges are just major money pumping machines, not a step to "higher" education.
Just because you have 50 college degrees in 35 fields, doesn't mean you are smart. Just as much as only a high school education doesn't mean you are dumb. Application of the education is key. Also the desire to learn more is also key.

Do you believe it is moral to force a woman to carry out a pregnancy to term against her will?
You are talking in circles now. You are trying to assume that the woman suddenly becomes pregnant, against her will, out of nowhere. Literally a stork comes and drops a baby? Let's turn this around. Do you think it is moral to have you follow through on your commitment to your car payment to the bank? If not, then you are a thief and a liar if you have the ability to follow through and refuse to do it because it gets in the way. You promised the bank you would make those payments until the car is paid off. You even have a absurdly long contract stating this with terms. If you don't like it, then suck it up because you made the action to start the commitment. Pay the car off like you said.
Same concept is a woman engages in the activity of sex and becomes pregnant by accident. She knows the consequences. She knows the outcome. Is it not immoral for her to take this baby, which is much more important than a car, to full term assuming no issues with her health and the baby's? Why is this any different? Why is the term, "keep men's noses out of our business", but not their dicks? Are people really that animalistic that they cannot hold back their passions but afterwards have become so sophisticated to understand and discuss the difference between a zygote and a human?
BTW, your question has no bearing on what we have been discussing. We are not talking about forcing women to have babies. We are talking about women not killing their babies.

Ludo, I looked up the burning clinic question. I really hope you are playing devils advocate for this question and not that you really think this is a valid argument.
This is such a stupid question and the answer is obvious. Save the toddler. But that doesn't mean there is no significance to human babies.
Let's switch it up, you are in a burning building and you can only save one person. A young black man or an old white woman. In either situation you could be accused of some sort racism or sexism or geriatric hating, etc. Both are important, but you can only save one, so you will put more emphasis on your view of importance. Save the young man and now you put NO significance to the older woman? Why the extremes? Why does one action mean the alternative has to go to the other extreme end?
These stupid "what if" questions are exactly that, stupid. Stupid for being unreal in any situation. Stupid for being made up as the perfect scenario to try to stump somebody. Dumb gotcha questions really displays the intelligence of the messenger, dumb.

Zed, I'm not sure where you are going with your post to me, but if you are implying that I am afraid of science because I don't believe in the climate change trash, then you are wrong. Science cannot be manipulated, minds can. So if there is something that can be proven and reproduced again, then I can believe it, but speculation and narrative pushing is not science. You do realize that they changed the name of "global warming" to "climate change" because there was no science to say that the globe is constantly heating up?
I'm not trying to get into a climate change debate so I'll turn it to abortion. Just because some guy with a college degree changes definitions of what we have already discovered to be true, doesn't mean it is.
Here is a question for everyone, If we decide to call a tail a leg, then how many legs does a dog have? If you said 5, then you are the one that is believing everything someone tells you and not what is absolute. The correct answer is 4, the fact that we call a tail a leg, doesn't mean that it is a leg. (Abraham Lincoln)

I agree with you on the issue of at what point does this baby have human rights. If it starts at conception and the baby dies within the womb for whatever reason, do they start an investigation? Are there criminal charges? Who will enforce this?
It would be hard to legally enforce any law that would have any miscarriage lead to an investigation. So to institute a LAW like murder to a unborn baby is nearly impossible and impactable to enforce.
So that would mean that we can set a ground rule that human babies are important and that we should not needlessly kill them when they are inconvenient. The other abortions can be debated (I.E. incest , rape, danger to mother). I'd say, start the law there and any rape or incest would have to have a police report. Any danger to mother would have to have a specific doctor's note.
However the over whelming majority of abortions are not the cases above, therefore, it is morally wrong to kill a baby for the sake of them being in the way.

Sir, with all due respect, and I do appreciate your service in the Marines, you are the idiot. You blindly follow the narrative.
Trump was a speed bump to the slow destruction of America. He is no angel, he is arrogant, he cheated on his wife, but he put America first.
Why do you think he was hit so hard while in the White house and outside of it still today? He didn't conform to the swamp's narrative. Everyone of the recent presidents are liars, cheats, crooks and made policies to benefit themselves and their friends. You don't get that high politically without having to nearly, or fully, sell your soul to the devil.
I'm not saying you must like or vote for Trump. All I am saying is take the blinders off. You are being fed a bill of goods by wholly eating the media narrative. Switch out the source every once and while and hear both sides.

Before I go into my list, I want you to look into Bush, Clinton, Obama and Biden. Then tell me that none of them could never be hit with any of these things. They all have the same background but they are only targeting Trump. Pay attention!!
Judge: Political theater and targeting. Look up the Clinton foundation.
University Fraud: Quick google search my friend: https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2022-12-21/usc-education-school-sued-for-alleged-fraud-in-u-s-news-world-report-data#:~:text=Lawsuit%20against%20USC%20education%20school,graduate%20school's%20online%20education%20programs.
FBI: Of course documents were there. He was a President. This happens all the time. BTW, Joe Biden has had more documents than Trump, unsecured, and this is when he was VP for Obama. Did you notice the news forgot the Trump raid happened after Biden got in hot water about documents too? Tell me the last time the FBI has posted evidence on social media during a raid? Tell me this is not political theater.
Administration arrests: You are correct in this case but I wouldn't be so sure that it's all completely fair. Political targeting.
Tax Fraud: Interesting goggle search finds the article about the CFO getting busted. He went to jail for HIS OWN personal tax fraud. He then agreed to testify against Trump.org about employee gifts that were not documented as income to the employee. Trump.org had to pay near $1.7M in fines. This sounds like a lot but when a company make $450M in revenue, $1.7M in back taxes seems legit. Again, not uncommon.
I also looked up who all gets hit by tax fraud. The site stated only around 2000 people per year. Hmmm. . . Doesn't this look like Trump has been targeted? Also, tax fraud is basically cheating on your taxes, so I think everyone can be guilty of this at one point or another. I am not saying fraud is okay, I'm saying that if they look deep enough, they probably can bust you on something.
Trump is no Sunday school preacher, but I will say that this guy has been targeted with lawsuits left and right. Then people who can't think for themselves like to spew the rhetoric they hear from central command. Like lemmings, they blindly follow their lead. Orange man bad, right?

Trump is banned from running a charity in New York - This is the startling news? That a pandering judge has barred Trump from having a charity?
Trump paid 25 million to settle a lawsuit for fraud at Trump University - Not uncommon for universities.
Trump took hundreds of classified documents to Mar-A-Lago. - No prosecution yet. Besides, the raid was purely political. What FBI raid is posted on Twitter by the FBI? Pictures of the "evidence"? Really? If that raid is legit, then a few people's heads need to roll for the unprofessional operation of the FBI.
Dozens of Trump insiders have been convicted, jailed, and disbarred - Not Trump. Tell me who's hands are completely innocent around D.C. Dig hard enough, you'll find something.
The Trump Organization was found guilty of Tax Fraud - Again, not uncommon and the definitions of "tax fraud" are pretty loose
Trump was impeached twice - Impeached by a corrupt democratic lead house who were his opponents. Big deal. He was never convicted.
Trump lied when he said the election was stolen. Even FOX News said that although not to the morons who watch FOX - ALL politicians lie. Keep this same standard to your stuttering, dementia filled president who is going to start WW3.
Eat up all the lies and propaganda that you are served like a good brainless liberal.

I hope you don't mind me jumping in Hey-Yo. . .
Underdog, the idea of a global ice age had nothing to do with science. The same for global warming or climate change. They are all made up from the ruling class to scare people into doing what they want. They use some facts to try to associate the propaganda of climate change. So to say that scientific discoveries change, that is not true. Narratives change, not facts. Look into their articles and try to see the difference between facts, speculation and opinion. You will find that there are less facts than anything in those.
Just because a scientific discovery is old doesn't mean that it is out-dated and needs to be re-discovered.

@hey-yo
Double, I think Hey-Yo did my argument for me. Thanks Hey-yo.
As for a complex subject, sure it is. There is a lot in the balance to decide if a woman gets an abortion. I am on the fence about rape, incest, and danger to the mother. I am only making the point that over 90% are done for selfish reasons. The other 7% is the hard part. I get that there are more than selfish reasons for an abortion, I was only focusing on one and the the vast majority of abortions done. Again, if women's rights are designed for irresponsible couples to get away with murder, then it is a fruitless movement and one made from Hell itself.
As for argument that the definitions of "Zygotes" and "embryos" means they are not babies, I find to be ridiculous. We all know that the forming human in the womb will become a "baby" human later. It's not as if we will be surprised that this "zygote" will turn out to be a cat at birth. Like a quarter turn toy dispenser, you just don't know which one you are going to get? We all know that this zygote will turn embryo, turn fetus, then turn neonate, then turn toddler, and then . . . and then . . . and we all recognize that the mass of cells was a baby the whole time developing in the womb.

@Double_R
Double, I agree that I came in at the wrong time only reading your first post that set me off, but that doesn't remove the point of killing a life due to an "oops" is wrong. The fact is that women who kill their babies are doing it over 90% of the time just because the baby gets in the way. That is immoral. The fact is that abortion stops nearly 1M human lives due too an inconvenience. This is bad, wrong, immoral, unjust and disgusting. Not the baby's fault. Not the baby's problem to solve.
Should the government have to step in and tell us "Now, American people, don't kill your children. That's not good."? But I suppose the American population could agree that a good baby is a dead baby. In fact, can 1M dead babies be wrong?!
I know you are going to try to split hairs on all those adjectives above, but the truth is, you either believe in murdering babies or not. Candy coating with definitions doesn't eliminate the fact that an abortion is a willful halting of human life. If woman's rights have come down to legalizing an irresponsible couple's decision to eliminate their product of sex, then I oppose woman's rights.

Why is it that with any debate regarding abortion does nobody ever recognize the fact HOW the baby got there in the first place? It's as if woman just goes through life and then BAM, they're pregnant. All of a sudden, it's a big deal about how the sperm and egg grow, but not how they meet? Is there no real understanding on how life is crated between humans?
This is what baffles me about pro-choice people talking about "unwanted" pregnancies. If you don't want it, prevent it. Get snipped, use contraceptives, etc, but don't blame the organ redistribution on the baby that YOU created. Don't harm the child that will cause the hormone chaos on YOUR lack of ability to prevent it. Really, if your wife was upset about being pregnant, then she should have kicked YOU in the balls!
Then the left decides tries to play the "Oh the poor woman who has been raped or may die because of complications" card. Let's be real. Look at the stats! It's 7.5%!! Seven point five percent for people who may not know numbers too well. This is just one stat. Another one I looked at was 1.26%!!
This means that well over 90% of abortions are due to inconvenience. What?! Just because you are not "ready" to bring a life into the world means you get to end it? We put people in prison for things like this. Murders, assaults and muggings has the same reasoning behind it. People were inconvenienced by someone else.
It's amazing to think liberals can pull theirs heads out of their anal orifice to even spew their garbage on definitions on when life is relevant.

College is nearly worthless for the average American. The problem is that college is pushed so hard in high schools and in middle school the teachers are pushing you to find a career. So most kids go to college not really knowing why they are there and eventually drop out or major in something that they later find out they hate. College is not for everyone and college does not make society better. I think for the most part it's just big high school and makes the average population dumber for an exceptional fee.
My personal story is that I never went to college except for a semester AutoCAD course in a community college. My career starting in steel work since that is what my dad did. I stayed in that field and just applied myself. Around 25 years old I was making more than the average college student and I didn't have any student loan debt.
I agree with the OP that if you know the field you are going into to and it needs college credentials, then go for it. It should pay for itself. If not, leave it alone.

Everybody follows somebody. Christians at least know who is telling them. It seems that atheists like to think that they are "free thinkers" and that they are so smart all on their own. So foolish. Most of time they know just enough about God to be able to pronounce the word "Bible" and then thump their chest thinking they are religious scholars. Some of these guys are so dumb their ears touch. A landfill the size of Texas can't hold the garbage that spews from some of these posts.
To the topic, God didn't flip flop on his decision about "Thou shall not kill". Anybody with a brain knows he is referring to murder. Also, any babies, women, "bystanders", etc being killed by God's judgement is easily seen as that, judgement. If God has supreme power and he make the final call on someone's sins, can he not exact that judgement? Obviously, if you don't believe in God then your answer would be no. It's easy to make decisions about the world and it's state of chaos when you are a "back seat" universe driver.

I will always go for a young earth approach. This will cut evolution off at the knees since the theory is based on an absurd amount of time. The earth is only about 6000-12,000 years old so there are metrics that can be found throughout the world and universe that will prove it. Carbon dating is severely inaccurate since there are about 20 or so variable that one has to guess at when doing the carbon dating.
Topics like: Moon dust, star creation, population, plant life, earth magnetic field, soil running into sea, moon distance from earth, and the such like. There are variables that have been measured to show a constant decline or increase, so in a billion years the world would have been over populated, the moon should be covered with about 3-4 feet of moon dust, the earth should have stopped spinning, we wouldn't have any land left to stand on, the moon would be joined to the Earth, etc.
I never get into the "science" of evolution since it cannot actually be studied. You could also show the dumb quotes from other evolutionists that contradict their own theories.
Also, since you cannot physically bring God to the debate, you need to show common things that will support a creator. Things in nature that cannot possibly evolve at the same time like bees (drones, queens, workers and food sources) would have to happen at the same time to exist. Also, odd ball creatures like the giraffe whose neck is so long that when it brings it's head down to drink, the blood pressure in his head should make it nearly explode, but there are chambers built into its neck to keep that from happening. Then you can do something like human inventions where it takes teams of people to create a car or space ship and how that was all designed did not evolve.
You could also go with mathematical probability with any evolution process. It will never pan out.
These are off the top of my head so if some of my facts about the giraffe are entirely wrong, then sorry.
There's my two cents.
BTW, brother d, the two accounts are from two writing sources when the old testament was combined. There are actually a quite a few points in Genesis and Exodus where it looks like it repeats itself. If you look up the Hebrew word for God or LORD in those passages (I don't remember which) one will mean Elohim and the other will be Adonai (I think). One writing referred to God as one name, the other writing, the other name. It's not contradicting accounts. It's about as contradicting as the gospels. They were from different sources.
