When I try to watch old Mel Gibson movies it reminds me of what he's become and I get kinda bummed out. I'll keep an eye out for 'em though, if you think they're good. And I must admit I really liked Hacksaw Ridge, which was Gibson's I think.
You're not the only person I've heard say "so they're just on this truck through the whole movie?" Yeah, it was different. I think that was the plot -- a marathon race to escape, beset upon by every warlord army in the land, keeping the truck going at all costs. A bare knuckle ride that lasted the length of the movie.

Ha, no way. I didn't expect anyone here would ever have heard of him. Nice. I've always considered him the best survival authority available on television. He's interested in filming the reality of survival, not in creating cheap sensationalism.

Their training would have to involve more than just learning to shoot, I would think. Someone who has never been in a life or death situation has no idea how they will react in one. Animal fear could take over, they could lose their self-control. They could start shooting with panic fire. Soldiers and police are trained and trained and trained to deal with nerves like that, teachers aren't. They're just civilians. And at the firing range you're just learning how to hone your marksmanship in a safe and calm environment.
Local gun range idea's not bad, as long as the discount is considerable. Given teachers' salary, I don't think they'll be very enthusiastic about having to pay for it themselves.

DAC?
I guess the choices are DAC or DA. I don't think DArt caught on. DDC has been pointed out as not unique. One member liked something like DarC.

Also DA sounds like it could stand for 'Debaters Anonymous' which would be a support group for people who cant stop debating stuff which I think applied to this group pretty well.
I don't have a problem! I can quit anytime I want!

This site calls itself DA on it's icon, which shows up on my phone so I call it DA.
What icon?

I know Goldtop and Ludofl3x signed up there. I can send them PMs. A public invitation would probably get me accused of poaching. Even if I said, "I'm totally not trying to poach, I'm just trying to tell some friends where the rest of their friends are!"
It's not a bad site btw. http://www.sciforums.com/ But not very many DDO members are there, so it's just not the same. It's not "us".

Yeah, DDO seems to be dwindling, whereas DDC -- or whatever the hell we're gonna call this site -- is actually growing.

Well, I am not sure if it would be used frequently and it would mess up the design of the upper part of the topic since pagination takes lots of space. I am thinking about adding a small "Go to bottom" button that would automatically scroll the page down to its end and one could use the pagination from there. I believe that would just as useable.
Why can't you put pagination at both the top and bottom of the thread? Wouldn't it just look like this? https://ibb.co/gcJMo9

Is anyone else having a problem where the buttons on the post creator stop working? Like sometimes I'll hit the quote or italicize button and nothing happens, the icons just sort of gray out. It's sporadic. I'm not sure what conditions cause it. Navigating away from the page and then back again seems to fix it temporarily.

The part of me that was made to feel powerless in school enjoyed that clip far too much. I mean, since I knew it was just a movie. If it had been real footage I'm pretty sure I would have thrown up.
What the hell were those soldiers in the courtyard doing, anyway? They just took a knee on the grass right out in the open and started firing up at the roof, taking no cover whatsoever. Some of them laid flat on their bellies. That's only helpful if you and the shooter are at the same elevation. If the shooter's standing a hundred feet above you at a 45 degree angle it's friggin' useless to lay down in the open.

Okay folk, I am gonna try to kill all the suspicions and tell you the whole story. So initially, this site was not meant to be in English and have anything to do with DDO.It happened ~ 3 years ago when I stumbled upon DDO and I liked the idea which is what I was looking for back then in order to practice my programming skills since I hate to practice on abstract things or the usual exercises. So I decided to kill two birds with one rock. I decided to try and implement this site with the new programming language and at the same time, move this experience of DDO to my country's domain and therefore the design resemblance, because it didn't make sense to bother too much trying to come up with an alternative to what already works perfectly. So I did create that website and it turned out to be crap because it was a mess both from the design point of view and code quality. So I closed it.Then, believe me or not, I changed the programming language again and decided what the heck, I am just gonna do the same but properly this time. And I did it and it's still up and running -> https://smartdebate.ru, do you see the resemblance? LolTruth be told, it had no success whatsoever, the debating is not a common thing here and even though I contacted probably all the debating clubs and forums I could find, it was to no avail. Then I wanted to close it as well because God knows I tried but I noticed that DDO was overwhelmed with some Indian spammers and nothing was done about it and I actually liked DDO a lot, I didn't really participate in the community but I enjoyed reading the debates and it helped me to adjust some of my views on the world, believe me or not. So I decided to just translate the website to English and see what happens because I checked the alternatives and didn't like them too much, if to be honest. So here we are.Regarding the spam, I have no clue whatsoever who is responsible for it but I freaking despise it. And to be as open as I can get, I am just sick of people saying that it was me. Somebody actually left a feedback on the website asking not to spam DebateIsland.com. Seriously? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I feel ya, man. Don't let the haters get you down. The competition between websites is making people nasty and paranoid.
I'd never even heard of this site until ethan discovered it and gave us the link. You made a few posts about it before that, but I would never have seen them, and my guess is you probably wouldn't have made many more. The ball only seemed to really get rolling after eth started spreading the word.

I'm hearing that millions of spam threads have been deleted on DDO, and I can see the forums showing signs of life. Will you be going back with any regularity?
I think I'll mostly remain here. I still have no reason to think DDO will be properly moderated from now on, or that the next wave of spambots will be dealt with in a timely fashion. Some of the spambots are still posting, so they haven't plugged all the leaks. Still only silence from Juggle. I've been wooed by the promise of improved features on other websites, and I don't want to go back to DDO's rather limited UI. And I just peeked into the religion forum on DDO and was reminded of how toxic the atmosphere of a completely unregulated forum can be. Also, I'll never have the creator's ear on DDO like we have justmichael's ear on this site. Here you can make requests and get feedback. Huge personalization value.

May I suggest that a quote feature that allows you to quote things the post I'm replying to itself quoted? Like in this post it's not obvious that you didn't ask for the larger profile picture so that you could show off your boobs.
Yeah, he said he hasn't gotten around to the quote feature yet, but he will.

I would never participate in a reality show about survival. Too much risk of contrived drama and events manipulated for trashy sensationalism. My goals and the producers' goals would be at odds. My goal would be a stable, safe environment where everyone is calm and as well taken care of as they can be while we wait for rescue. The producers' goal would be an unstable, melodramatic environment where people are at each other's throats, entertainment value is prioritized over stability, and the audience can't tear their eyes away.
Naked and Afraid is more like Naked and Miserable. I watched it a few times but I just couldn't get past the absurdity of the nakedness thing. One layer of clothing is the bare minimum you can expect to have on you in a plausible survival situation. It's just TV clickbait, obviously. My favorite survival shows would be Survivorman and Hacking the Wild. Hacking the Wild was pretty cool. The host goes into the wilderness with modern tech, like a laptop and a phone (with dead batteries, of course), and takes them apart to see what survival tools he can make out of them. One minute video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0T_ylKPFAw Also, he's a vegetarian but surprisingly he's stuck to his guns so far and won't eat any meat in the wild, even when the pickings are slim. One time he refused to even eat a sea cucumber. Although he did eat a... byproduct of the sea cucumber.

I have no idea how it works. Some people managed to paste some emojis and weird signs so it's a grey area for me haha
Could be that images made out of keystrokes and special characters can be copied because they still count as text. But a picture is not text, and the text window won't recognize it. There are a lot of forum sites that let you paste images though. It can be done.

Should trained school officials, teachers and the like be allowed to pack heat in the buildings vicinity in case of emergencies? are you comfortable with the idea of your children going through weapon detectors at school? we've had a few evacuations in my local area, both false alarms but still unnerving. A couple of death threats in the high school as well. What are good options in your opinion to protect students?
Who is going to pay for the training these teachers will need?

The "show recent" button actually isn't much use to me if it's inside the thread. It would be much more helpful if the option was available from the topics viewlist like you said. Then I wouldn't have to load the first page and then load the last page. I could just load the last page.
As for looking nice: on most sites, you can click on the thread title to be taken to its first page, but you can also click on the thread's last post and be taken directly to the most recent page. DDO did this, for example. Would that be doable? I would think it's just a matter of adding a link to the information displayed in the Last Post column.
As always, thanks for the responsiveness. I know you have a lot of things to do. I hope you'll find some more members with the knowledge to help you out with all this. I find HTML and CSS tedious, myself.

2) Added a way to jump to the last page of the forum topic
How? Navigating to a thread always takes me to the first page. Can't find a way to open a thread to its most recent page. This, and the absence of a quote button on people's posts so that I have to copy and paste quotes manually, are a couple of my worse inconveniences right now. Which means things are going pretty good.

DArC is the beautiful nickname.DDC is the lazy name.Dart is going to be so confusing as it's a norm English word so newcomers work cafch on.I'd say there's three viable picks:DArCDACDbAC
Oh very well. Hmm. I probably prefer DDC then. I like lazy. Kind of a shame it doesn't work the "art" into it somehow, though.
DArC, pronounced Darcy, seems like kind of a weird name for a website to me, but I could get used to it. But where's the D for "dot" as in "dot com"?

I believe they modeled him using the skulls of first century Jews as their guideline. And they based the skin color on some of the earliest images of Jewish people. It's difficult to tell if he's thin or not just from the headshot, he could just be wide-faced.
But yeah, I really have no idea why they gave him that expression, lol. He looks like your friend who was recently brainwashed into a cult, and you break into the cult compound to rescue him, but when you finally find him he turns around and smiles all creepy trance-like, with brainwashed eyes. "Why would I ever want to leave the Master? Praise the Master. Join the Master and be happy with us, friend."

Truth is acquired, either through experience or through another source. You are designed perfectly to know the truth, and to live the truth. Why don't you inspire yourself to reach a little deeper?
How could I be designed to perfectly know the truth? I'm just an ignorant, fallible human being.

I hear ya, it's such a shame it was lost to that unending spam nightmare.
The site creator goes by the username DebateArt.com here. On DDO his username is justmichael. I'm not sure if he was ever very active there. And as far as I know, no mods have been appointed yet. DebateArt.com (we really need to come up with a shorter catchy nickname for this) appears to be the only authority.

Are you saying the truth - unembellished with gods and magic - cannot be beieved in and cannot inspire?
I'm saying I don't believe the truth was designed with us in mind, but I believe religion was. Reality can and does inspire, but it wasn't made to inspire us or to keep our hopes afloat. It can devastate as easily as uplift. Our stories, on the other hand, are made to do just that -- inspire and uplift us.

It's hard to answer you regarding the moderation level at this point. We'd need to think and come up with the moderation system from the scratch. Obviously it makes sense to appoint some willing people a "moderator" role and give some abilities to handle stuff but it's just a top of an iceberg, I believe it's possible to create a system (not perfect though but still) which would prevent the bad content in the first place. At least a system that would make it discouraging but again, it needs some thinking.
I understand, the site's still very early stage. I only asked because on DDO people could basically get away with anything, and I'm really ready for a forum where that stops. Particularly when it comes to posts that consist of only hateful personal attacks and zero substance or contribution to the discussion.
A moderating system that "would prevent the bad content in the first place" sounds interesting. I'm not sure how that would work, except in the case of spambots, but my curiosity is piqued.

I think eth has already posted the link to this site on several of the stickied threads on DDO. Probably not much left to do, except message friends like you said, though I'm not sure which people on my friends list already know about this place. If you're really determined, you could follow some of the DDO members who went to other sites and invite them to Dart, I guess.

Since every culture has come up with God story, would it be correct to say that psychologically, humans need a God narrative?I say yes, as even atheist seem to need it just as much as theists even if for different reasons. Why do you think humans seem to need a God story?
We're story-oriented creatures. We want answers, narrative, causality. Reasons and explanations. We want something to believe in, and tales that inspire.

I've heard scientists say that eating meat was important to our early evolution. It's packed with protein and fuel, and the human brain is an energy hog. I've also heard it suggested that many animals can get away with a vegetarian diet because they don't have that energy hogging human brain they have to feed.
