Only a coward doesnt fight against the oppressor.
Palestinians are oppressed by hamas. You see what hamas did and now the Israelites will use the Stalingrad option to preserve lives because despite being ugly it saves more lives than a ground invasion would.
Did you know Ghandi fought against oppressors in a peaceful way?
Did you know MLK was a huge factor in desegregation and fought oppressors in a peaceful way?
I am not going to say violence is uncalled for, but millions of Israelite Jews thought of Palestinians as oppressed also and were fighting to help them.
The musical festival of civilians Hamas targeted was full of mostly left wing Jews. The exact type of people who would be fighting for Palestinians.
Hamas attacked the people most likely to help them because peace or help is not what they want. It is in the original Harter of Hamas. They want Israel exterminated.

Both sides claim an element of self-defense to their actions. And while both are at least kind of correct in the macro-sense, none of Hamas's actions this past week can be justified.
These terrorist attacks did nothing to further the cause of Palestinian self-defense; if anything, their lives are about to get a thousand times harder as the Israeli army invades their homes. Hamas indiscriminately beheaded babies when this would have no bearing on the ultimate outcome they hope to achieve (if anything, it was counterproductive). It was killing for the sake of killing.

Deep down I think palestinians deserve any response Israel will carry out because they voted for Hamas in the past elections. If you noticed, palestinians around the world applauded the Hamas' insane attack, so I believe this should be considered as a factor that the OP was refering to for killing people.
