Countries are not always recognized because they are 'worthy or not.
Pevensie post #76, is an example of such.

'Worth, also has various meanings as a word,
Worthy financially,
Worthy morally,
Worthy militarily,
Worthy because of consequences from another country.
And so on.
. . . . . . . . . .

No, you have forgotten my earlier post, #17
"As of April 2022, 13 countries and Vatican City/Holy See have recognized Taiwan as a sovereign country"

Catalan was not able to reach a position of strength to gain 'any recognition.

You mock that recognition in post #18,
But you underestimate the 'significance of it, seems to me.

Every country we have ever defended we recognized first.

We don't recognize Taiwan.....so we don't defend them

The Vatican is free to send the Swiss guard to defend Taiwan

We have defended countries before,
Before 'formal recognition to the world, that we recognize them as a country.

"In March 2011, five United States Air Force bombers (three B-2s and two B-1Bs) dropped bombs on at least 100 targets in Libya.[1][2]"

"On 24 May, the NTC opened a formal diplomatic office in Washington, D.C. (the U.S. had already had an office in Benghazi with a formal envoy for nearly two months)."

"On 15 July, at an international conference on Libya held in Turkey, Clinton stated that the US had decided to formally recognise the NTC as the country's "legitimate authority", allowing the US to divert over $30 billion worth of Gaddafi regime funds frozen in the US to the NTC.["

We recognized Libya as a country in 2011.

You are talking about recognizing a government

But we always recognized Libya

Most places are already populated,
What is the difference between a new nation and new government?

America existed as a place, a society, part of Britain before revolution,
America declared independence from Britain,
Is this new country or 'just new government?

We recognize the borders of a country as independent.   We have an embassy and a ambassador there

Governments change...but we recognize the country as independent

Hm,
China does not seem to be able to enter 'Taiwan 'borders so easily,
Not able to imprison those within who claim independence from China.

"The American Institute in Taiwan[2] (AIT; Chinese: 美國在台協會; pinyin: Měiguó Zài Tái Xiéhuì) is the de facto Embassy of the United States of America in Taiwan. AIT is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the federal government of the United States in Taiwan with Congressional oversight.[3] The AIT was officially created as a U.S. government-sponsored non-profit, private corporation established under the auspices of the U.S. government to serve its interests in Taiwan. Primarily staffed by employees of the United States Department of State and local workers, the AIT provides consular services normally offered by United States diplomatic missions, with the Great Seal of the State Department hung at AIT's main office in Taipei. The establishment of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1979 required acknowledgment of the "one-China policy" and subsequent termination of diplomatic relations with the Republic of China (Taiwan). The AIT now serves to assist and protect U.S. interests in Taiwan in a quasi-official manner,[4] and also processes U.S. visas and provides consular services to U.S. expatriates. Following the swift passage of the 2018 Taiwan Travel Act by the United States, it now serves as a high-level representative bureau on behalf of United States in Taiwan.[5] It receives full protection from the United States Marine Corps as do all U.S. embassies."

'Sounds like an embassy.

Eh,
Let's say I have a metal tube with a wood stock and a trigger, it has a hammer and accepts bullets,
Ah, but it's not a gun,
Because I don't 'call it a gun.

Eh, talks like a duck, walks like a duck.
Pedantry, to avoid truth of a situation.

That countries claiming Taiwan is not a country,
Is merely convenient lie, to assuage China,
Yet Taiwan, has it's own government, laws, officials, army, borders enforced.

It would be a gun if the US government RECOGNIZES it as a gun

Any country that wants to defend Taiwan is welcome to

It's not our job to defend places we don't even recognize

That you don't know what a gun is, is bewildering.

Eh, Let's say China attempts to invade Taiwan,
Wouldn't surprise me if America chose to world stage recognize Taiwan, one second before saying, we are now sending military aid.

By your definitions,
Sounds like that's a fine response,
So long as America calls Taiwan a country before sending military aid, all good.

That you don't understand how governments define things is bewildering.

We send them military aid now.

But we will not be sending soldiers if China invades

I don't think that Trumpers would fight for Taiwan.  In 2019, a special law legalizing same-sex marriage was passed, making Taiwan the first country in Asia to allow LGBT unions.

Officially when we recognize a country they get a embassy and a ambassador

The US doesn't have an embassy or ambassador in Afghanistan, Bhutan, Iran, Maldives, Syria and Yemen.

Deny that
Yet, the US officially recognizes Afghanistan, Bhutan, Iran, Maldives, Syria and Yemen as countries.

I do not think the policy of the US or another country determines whether Taiwan is a country or not.
