Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chair Sean Patrick Maloney admitted defeat in his reelection bid to the House Tuesday.

Maloney, a five-term incumbent, conceded to Republican candidate Mike Lawler Wednesday morning, having been trailing him in the polls by 6%, according to multiple reports. He was running in New York’s newly-drawn 17th Congressional District, covering Rockland County and parts of Westchester County, which includes many affluent suburbs, and is the congressional district of Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Maloney’s status as DCCC Chair, placing him in charge of winning House elections for Democrats and a senior member of the party’s leadership, makes the loss a significant blow to the House Democratic Caucus.

Earlier in the year, Maloney had been expected to easily be reelected to his New York seat regardless of House Democrats’ prospects, with his district having a Cook Partisan Voting Index Score of D+8 in 2021.

The certainty of Maloney’s win was in question, however, after Cook rated the seat as a Toss Up, despite having a Cook PVI score of D+3 in 2022 and voting for President Joe Biden in the 2020 election by a margin of 10%.

Admit it, your party got shitcanned and nobody likes Democrats. The main strategist, the person literally responsible for making the Democrat Party win, got clobbered in his own district. He's an incumbent candidate. Do you know how difficult it is to lose when you're the incumbent? He was barely competent enough to win in his own state. Nobody wants your insane Soviet Impeachment Trials or your Nazi Press Censorship or your Cuban Political Imprisonments. We also don't want your Venezuelan dictatorship presidency. This is America, not the United Soviet Democratic-Republic of States, and we don't want communism here. It's proven by the polls:

Hillary conceded and Abrams had a legitimate claim that the candidate suppressed black votes in his position as Secretary of State which is a disgrace unless you are a racist.

Trump then caused people to die with his lies on January 6 and ruined countless other lives.

Even PolitiFact came out and said that it is not factual to claim that suppression led to Abrams losing. The so-called voter roll removal was not barring anyone from voting. They could still vote with a valid ID:

In fact, according to Georgia's own Secretary of State, just 10,000 total voters statewide have no form of Id at all:

In other words. There were no suppressed black votes. Black people turned out proportionally to their representation in the population. She has no legitimate claim of voter suppression.

Moreover, how do you explain Democrats winning in 2020 and now possibly in 2022 if black people are suppressed? That would be a rather fucking massive block of people to suppress and still manage to lose an election.

We all saw the long lines of black people waiting hours to vote. That was by design and an example of voter suppression.

The lawsuit cited multiple alleged problems, including the purging of eligible voters from voter rolls under a “use it or lose it” policy; the state’s so-called exact match voter registration rules; an insufficient number of voting machines at some precincts; and a lack of sufficient training for election officials. It asked a federal judge to find that Georgia’s elections processes violated the U.S. Constitution and federal law.

Some of the alleged problems were addressed by changes in state law. For example, a 2019 law called for replacing the state’s outdated voting machines. The new system was implemented statewide in 2020.
In February 2021, Jones threw out parts of the lawsuit, saying some allegations were made irrelevant by changes in state law or the plaintiffs’ lack of standing. Among them were some of the claims about voting machines and election technology, as well as the security of voter lists and polling place issues. The following month, Jones dismissed claims targeting the “use it or lose it” policy and some allegations of inadequate training of poll workers. He also dismissed some claims relating to provisional and absentee ballots. This was legal voter suppression he said.

The plaintiffs say data entry errors or differences as minor as a missing hyphen or apostrophe can trigger a non-match and that naturalized citizens can also be wrongly flagged as noncitizens if records are outdated. These problems disproportionately affect people of color and can depend on where a person lives because counties do things differently, the plaintiffs say.

The issues remaining for the trial have to do with the “exact match” policy, the statewide voter registration list and in-person cancellation of absentee ballots. The plaintiffs claim that Georgia’s secretary of state and State Election Board members are “denying and abridging Georgians’ right to vote” in violation of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the U.S. Constitution.

Lawyers for the state argued the problems were minor and only effected black people and the alleged problems cited are not the responsibility of the state officials named in the lawsuit.



Kemp won by less than 55,000 votes. In 2018 there were 2.5 million black voters in Georgia

Nice try in your carefully worded statement but the reality is:

Kemp made some controversial decisions that probably hurt Democrats overall, but it’s difficult to determine exactly how many people were prevented from voting, Daniel P. Tokaji, who teaches election law at Ohio State University, told PolitiFact.
"The only really honest answer is that no one knows for sure how much voting was depressed by the alleged acts of ‘voter suppression’ by former Secretary of State Kemp," he said. 

The so-called voter roll removal was not barring anyone from voting. They could still vote with a valid ID:

Once again, the people who were flagged were able to still vote with a valid id. This was what the state decided because of the typos you suggested. Nobody was refused the ability to vote.

Voting rights advocates raised alarms about the massive purge, while Kemp defended the responsibility of election officials to maintain voter rolls.

The state also flagged 53,000 registrations as part of a 2017 law that requires exact matches for a person based on state and Social Security records. The Associated Press found that the majority of those flagged voters were African-American. Mismatches occurred over differences as small as a missing hyphen. If they weren’t registered then they wouldn’t have gotten any information or ballots from the state thus depressing the turnout of these black people.

So Kemp took aim at 725,000 mostly minority voters to suppress their vote.

Well... According to the article that Politifact linked to:
Amid heated battles over voting rights, Georgia has emerged as an unlikely national leader in automatic voter registration, according to a study this month by the Brennan Center for Justice. The study estimated that 94% more voters registered in Georgia than if the state hadn't implemented automatic voter registration in September 2016.

More than any voter registration drive or contentious political campaign, Georgians signed up to vote because the state government made it the default option on every driver’s license form. Everyone is registered unless they check a box to opt out of being registered to vote. Before the switch, voters had to opt in.

“Registering to vote in Georgia has never been easier,” state Elections Director Chris Harvey said.

So Georgia had an unprecedented amount of new voters, the voters could still vote even with the typos as long as they had a valid id, and virtually everyone in Georgia had a valid id. So there was no conspiracy here. Abrams lost because she is a kook.

Is difficult for you to understand. Even though they were flagged, they could still vote anyways. So what is the difference if they were flagged, considering the overwhelming majority of Georgians (all but 10,000 of them) have a valid ID anyways.

Are these your words? What are you basing that on? Do you think poor people are less likely to have ID? I work with homeless people in LA. Obtaining and securing their ID is one of the biggest challenges for poor people of all ages.

Is it difficult for you to understand that if you never receive anything from the registras office you are less likely to even make an effort to go to the pollls?

Have you ever not gotten a bill in the mail and then didn’t make the payment on time because the bill never arrived?

More than 1.4 million people were removed from Georgia's voting rolls between 2012 and 2018 because they stopped participating in elections among other reasons.

Ha, Georgia  was forced to do this so to compensate they deleted thousands of people who were already registered. Classic!

Florida is not even close to a gerrymander lol. The maps look a million times better than NY and IL.

An objective person could not look at FL and say that’s an extreme gerrymander. Democrats have a geography problem in Florida like they do in Wisconsin.
