I don't enjoy Mafia. I am extremely good at it, I just don't enjoy it and am easy to trigger into flaming as the game is played with words so I can't 'ignore the words and and get on with the game'.
My last Mafia game where I didn't enjoy it despite being the sole hardcarry of Town and literally turned around a game where we were lynching Cop to screw mafia into autoloss was enough to teach me that I am not built psychologically for this game. It's like debate-voting, I can do it brilliantly, I just hate to.

It's the standard size for the Beginners' Series. The Beginners' Series is to prepare players for bigger and more complex games. Therefore, 10 or more is the ideal size for a normal game.

That's not true. Just because it's the size of beginners games doesn't make it incompatible with a normal game. It's probably used for beginners games in large part because it's usually going to be shorter since there are fewer players and because there are rarely more than a handful of new players at the same time here. Neither of these make it a bad size for a normal game, just a good size for a beginners game. There are plenty of 9 player games on every site I've played mafia on (5+).
Can you give any reasons other than "It's the same size as beginners games"

Also the mafia scene on DART is super inactive so if wanted even a chance of running a game, it would have to be small.
