Rapists are put to death if convicted in Saudi Arabia, so they may view sex differently, but they are also tough on rape.

The world doesn't agree on everything, but I think we can all agree that rape should be severely prosecuted.  The middle east tends to have higher rape penalties than the west.  Because of this, I think rape is less common in the middle east than the west (although I'm not sure and the correlation isn't strong).
Well you're wrong, it's so common that husbands do it to their wives regularly there and the wives can't report it as official rape.

You don't understand the culture you are defending or the horrors that happen, what you are doing is living in a fairytale. If I read even the title alone of the past seven threads you've made, it implies naivety and ignorance all at once.

More than 100 countries across the world have criminalized marital rape; India stands in the dubious company of the likes of Saudi Arabia and central African countries in this regard.

Lol, meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
Is this how you debate? Like do you actually think this is a competent rebuttal to anything I said?

If you are being serious, that's a very ridiculous outlook. Germany is part of the harshest countries defending Ukraine againt Russia's Imperalism right now, they are severely anti-Fascist within the nation. I am not sure where you're coming from with that statement, maybe you drank the kool-aid Nigel Farage sold you.

The definition of rape is similar in Saudi Arabia to the one here.  It's not the same definition, but it's similar.

But the US had marital rape legal in the 1970s and then we (thankfully) got rid of it.

Maybe if the world was one nation, there could be international laws that classify marital rape as rape that Saudi Arabia would abide by.  Hopefully Saudi Arabia outlaws marital rape, but I have faith that in time they will do it.  You just got to be patient; it's not like America legalized homosexuality in 1776; it took hundreds of years.  Maybe the UN puts an embargo on countries where marital rape is legal until they prosecute marital rape as harshly as non-marital rape.

Okay and how would you go about making Islamic cultures obey the new enforcement of gender equality and feminist protections against abuse?

How would we ensure that these far-right cultures don't end up making the liberal, democratic cultures end up swayed in their direction instead?

With friends like Germany, who needs enemies?

Here's my rough draft for how to get the middle east to outlaw marital rape:

If the countries where marital rape was banned only buy their oil from other countries where marital rape is banned (like Canada , the US, Australlia, Latin America) (since the middle east needs western money) and if companies are banned from buying oil from countries where marital rape is legal (kindof like what's happening with Russia right now, but this would happen after the Russia Ukraine war), this would lead to the countries banning marital rape to get that oil money.  Middle eastern countries want western money and I think they are willing to prosecute marital rape the same way as rape to get the money from oil buisiness.

Thoughts?

I feel like a fun game would be to pick two outlandish statements that underdog has said then add a third equally outlandish statement that he hasn't ever said and have people guess which one was made up. I'll go first, two of these are underdog quotes and one of them I just made up to sound like him:

1) Slaves actually didn't have it so bad because at least they didn't have to pay taxes

2) The U.S. government should relocate 2 million of its citizens from the mainland to Puerto Rico and vice versa.

3) Taxing people based on income is punishing them for having more money.

The answer is yes and obvious to those who are  adults that have  lived through  10 - 30 years of M.A.Destruction

War is obsolete but USA and Russia- apparrently did not get the memo.

All-for-one and one-for-all is a spiritual bond of humanity as a species with access to enough intelligence { mind over brain/matter } and empathy { compassion/love }, to realize nation/state is subcatagory of a greater whole aka were-all-one within our ecological biosphere that sustains us all.

We are all one with Universe via contractive { inward } Gravity { outer } --if not also dispersive Dark Energy { inner }---- is diametric operational 180 degree opposing sets. Bilateral set is 90 degree co-considerate set.  Structural triangulation is dynamic changing balance of  twoness that outweighs/votes the diametric opposite oneness in a triangular set.   Ex  * . * wherein we see the two { * * } vs the { . }

Global population  regulation/governance  --OMG did he just use the R word--- has to be considered in respect to current operational ways we attain and use our Earths resources and into the futre, I.e. it is better we all live at lower standard of living and with less people on Earth,  for whatever amount of years, as a better alternative to gross killing off and sufferring of humans on Earth or worse even, extinction.  This is a no brainer aka useless brain. :--)

We all live in atomic/nuclear submarines, on a little blue planet, out in space, out in space, Sung to Beatles tune.

How long before a peackeeper  weapon is accidentally, or intentionally, ignited in an apposing nation/state?  How long will humanity deceive itself, that, is safe from nuclear extinction?

How many years before fusion reactors replaces the ongoing global building of nuclear fission reactors and all the waste that is being produced?

.... " During its approximately 30-year lifetime, a fusion power plant will, depending on its type, produce between 60,000 and 160,000 tons of radioactive material.  It has to be put into interim storage after the power plant is shut down. The activity of the waste quickly declines: after about 100 years to a ten-thousandth of the initial value. After a decay time of one to five hundred years the radiotoxic content of the waste is comparable to the hazard potential of the total ash from a coal plant, which always contains natural radioactive substances. "...

True, but I think it would be harder to do if we were separate countries.  The US federal government influences its own states more than Mexican states because us states are in the same country as the US and Mexican states aren’t.

Most nations have their own internal problem I can't imagine the crap one would have to deal with if there was one nation across the whole world. And any sort of small group like LGBT, women, probably even those with special needs would just get crushed.

Mexico can keep pretty much all of it's laws just like the USA can keep pretty much all of it's laws.

But there are incentives to become one nation like world peace (Mexico doesn't want nuclear war because it would lead to a nuclear winter for them).

The world isn't one nation and between USA and Mexico there is peace... Maybe I'm missing something.

The cause of war is moral disagreement not the mere existence of political blocs. The moral disagreement consolidates around a political bloc and then fights through them, but if there was only one political bloc or very few the moral disagreement would simply manifest as civil strife/war, perhaps it would build up more pressure.

There should be one government if that government reliably enforces a true an objective moral code. Any other type of government is tyranny, and thus it would be better for multiple governments to exist so that they may destroy each other or at the very least the least tyrannous may offer refuge.

Currently there is world peace, but I'm worried about WWIII between the US and Russia.  If the US and Russia were culturally the same, then there wouldn't be a war between the US and Russia.  If the whole world had the same language and culture, we lose any rationality for war.

If there is nuclear war, the whole world suffers due to the nuclear winter.  A one world nation avoids nuclear war in the long term.

I fail to see the need too.  Every country is good at something and the world can specialize to produce better goods for everyone.  Most individuals aren't self sufficient (unless you grow your own food and don't buy anything from anyone), so why should countries be?

Fair point, but it's mutual.  So you can coerce another country and they can coerce you.  We also get cheaper goods.
