These two examples are not remotely the same, but you already know that.
Wanna explain the difference to me? Cause what I see is Americans being harmed needlessly. We aren’t the world’s police

The Ukrainian government is a legitimate democracy that could stand on its own two feet until Russia decided to destroy it because it was inconvenient to them.

Afghanistan was never a legitimate democracy, we spent 20 years trying to prop it up in our image because what they had was inconvenient to us.

Why do I need to explain this?

Is that why there has been a civil war going on for years. Either way, we have no interest promoting democracy in other nations. They can do it themselves.

Ya just like Eastern Ukraine who wanted to be pro-Russia, but the Westerners suppressed their self-determination

We weren’t “promoting democracy” in Ukraine, they already are a democracy. What they need help with is not maintaining their Democratic system, they need help from being destroyed by a military superpower who decided to destroy them just because.

If Democracy was so sacred, we would have invaded Venezuela.

But I guess Russian Oil is better than Venezuelan???

Lol, the only Democracies worth supporting are the ones that respect American power. Today that means no democracies.

We’re not even a true democracy. We’re a constitutional republic. And thank the lord for it

The right human thing to do was also to give democracy in Afghanistan. Look where we are now. The more we try to be the world’s police, the further things fall about. Whether you look at Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya, the “right human thing to do” has always been a disaster.

Why should Americans suffer through higher gas prices because of some nation half of Americans probably have never even heard of up until this point

It seems your cerebral cortex is not properly working. You think that raising gas prices is the most critical issue right now? You're wrong. There are humans dying from Putin's war hawk attitude, and also in the last 4 days, he has committed multiple war crimes and murder. And you're worried about a possible 0.50 raise on gas prices? Also, How is Afghanistan, Syria or Libya even relevant to this conversation? I think just maybe the title of the forum is, "Why should Americans care about Ukraine?". But thats just a lucky guess.

Yes, serious issue. We need to be more like countries with great, big, strong leadership where inflation and commodity prices are under control... like... Russia?

Humans have been dying for centuries. Humans have been dying in every corner of the globe, especially the Middle East. Yet we do nothing there. As an American, I could care less about someone in Syria. My duty is to my family. And if you don’t think higher gas prices are a problem, you are out of touch with reality, cause guess what, not everyone is as privileged as you to not care about finding their source of gas money.

And you're worried about a possible 0.50 raise on gas prices? Also, How is Afghanistan, Syria or Libya even relevant to this conversation? I think just maybe the title of the forum is, "Why should Americans care about Ukraine?". But thats just a lucky guess.
Yes I am cause our moronic administration has forced us to rely on Russian Oil when we were energy independent under Donald Trump. Now we’re sending money over to a Top 5 corrupt country.

And my mentioning of the Middle East was to show that American interference always leads to things being messed up. Syria has been this way for a decade. We spent trillions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now we’re on muh Ukraine. Our job shouldn’t be to promote democracy. People can do that themselves if they want to
