Roe V Wade seems to be in line with the13th amendment

13th amendment: Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime shall be allowed in the United States.

If conservatives want to repeal Roe V Wade, that's fine, but I hope they have the mental IQ points above room temperature to realize that it would require the modification or repealing of the 13th amendment.

The 13th amendment can be modified to:

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime or to benefit one's kids shall be allowed in the United States.

If this was what the 13th amendment was modified to, then it could be used for all the following policies:

1) To ban abortion when a fetus becomes a human being.
2) To force deadbeat dads to pay child support (because forcing someone to pay child support against their will is slavery).

This is the dumbest interpretation of the 13th amendment I have ever seen. If we accepted this interpretation, it would mean a libertarian state, utilizing the non aggression principle.

I'd advise you to read the opinions of the judges who passed Roe vs Wade, for a better understanding of why they passed the bill.

Roe v Wade ties in the 14th amendment, not the 13th.

The 14th features the right to privacy, and Roe v Wade uses that with certain time stipulations.

However, the 13th seems more relevant as human beings should not be slaves; even if that hurts the feelings of misogynists. That is my core argument on abortion debates: https://www.debateart.com/debates/1024-should-abortion-be-made-illegal

Roe versus Wade is not necessarily about abortion. It's about medical privacy. You know that HIPAA s*** you get when you go to the doctor's appointment that's Roe v Wade. If women who are pregnant are not entitled to medical privacy then no one is and everybody should be able to walk into a hospital pull your records and use your records against you.

What does abortion have to do with privacy?  I don't really understand how abortion is related to privacy anymore than a murder is related to privacy.

Well, that's why I want to modify the 13th amendment.

In addition, this modification also holds deadbeat dads accountable, whereas currently, there is no constitutional basis for forcing a deadbeat dad to pay child support as it goes against the 13th amendment.

I believe medical privacy is a right and I don't think anybody should be able to demand to see any of your medical records. Unless it involves a lawsuit, insurances or doing your job safely.

Because it's murder to religious fanatics doesn't make it murder. How do you murder someone who isn't born.

What life? All abortion stops is a potential at life. Like shutting off life support because someone is brain dead. The womb is a life support mechanism. There are legal definitions for what is considered living and what is considered slavery.

Good point.  I forgot about that argument, although steadfast pro lifers would often argue that you should not shut off life support for someone who is in a vegetative state.  What are your thoughts about that?

Whether it is constitutional or not the decision is insane. It is based on the right to privacy in the 14th Amendment. Privacy and abortion have nothing to do with each other. Furthermore, there is no right to privacy in the 14th Amendment which any sane person can see by simply reading it.

On the thirteenth amendment, I don't think that is justification either. Sec. 1 of the 14th Amendment says: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." Sec. 2 is just enforcement, and has nothing to do with the actual issue. This is talking specifically about slavery, and it is clear that in no way is the mother a slave to a child in her stomach. She has complete autonomy still, and is not being forced to work for anything. Also, in our current system the child is treated as her property, so it is really the other way around. If there is any argument, it is that minors are closer to slaves than mothers.

.." vegetative state "..

Some might say the ' welfare state ' is no differrent from the vegetative state. Ex Sadolite would like all welfare receiptents to be put in concentration camps.

1} the walking brain dead i.e. those who would rather get sick from covid than take there chances with mRNA or other covid vaccins,

2} the vegetative brain dead, wasting away their lives in a coma or other,

3} the welfare brain dead, wasting away their lives wishing their was more  job opportunities,

4} the humanity brain dead, wasting away their spiritual belief that they are Gods gift to Universe, ergo, cannot destroy themselves or the ecological environment that sustains them on Earth,

5} the republican brain dead who see Trump as their spiritual bridge to bridge to truth, justice, liberty and moral values of get what I can for myself and the rest can go to concentrations camp hell-on-Earth.

I didn't say welfare was a vegetative state so don't put words in my mouth. Just because you have sick thoughts doesn't mean everybody else that post here does.

More than that, is it possible so that every abortion could be saved? That is the problem we should talk about for a fail-safe.

It seems that you are utterly oblivious. HIPAA was created through The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996

Roe v. Wade was an interpretation of the Constitution

Even if there was no supposed “right to privacy” in the Constitution, you can still have HIPAA

Banning abortion = Forcing someone to be pregnant and to endure the work for it for the benefit of someone else.

Forcing someone to be pregnant and to endure the work for it for the benefit of someone else= Slavery

Also, being forced to pay child support is slavery.

Therefore, if Pro-lifers want to repeal Roe V Wade, they need to modify the 13th amendment to, "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime or to benefit one's kids shall be allowed in the United States.".  The current 13th amendment, "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime shall be allowed in the United States." allows for Roe V Wade(and being a deadbeat dad that refuses to pay child support).

Medical privacy as guaranteed by the 14th amendment, is the foundation of the Roe v Wade decision; as others have explained in this thread.

Nobody is forcing anybody to get pregnant. That is completely their decision to face the consequences.

And no, child support isnt slavery

Pro life ideology consists of forcing already existing pregnant people to stay that way.

Child support is slavery.  Granted, there are times when slavery is the only moral option, but at least I have the guts to say that deadbeat dads should be enslaved and exploited by their kids and should be forced to produce money for the benefit of their offspring even if it costs the deadbeat dad their life to provide for their kids.
