As real as an experience might seem,
If one knows it to be unreal, there is a lessened effect,
Yet, the purpose of simulation is to 'increase the seeming 'reality,
Which is why some first aid courses will use actors and props,
The point can be to immerse the individual until it 'is real to them, though it is not.

"If you can't tell the difference, does it matter?" - I've never watched Westworld in full.

If one couldn't 'realize a difference, it wouldn't matter, but one 'does realize a difference.
As cool as magic is, the knowledge that it is a trick greatly diminishes it's power,
Part of the reason less witch burnings.

Rambling, but I was just thinking on the psychological effects of immersion in more 'real war, and killing.
. . .

I suppose individuals can still be 'developed by Virtual Reality,
Such is the entire 'purpose of some VR such as flying simulators.

So people 'could be impacted in negative ways as well, I suppose.
Whether in stunted or improved social skills, depending on what type of "that" or chatbot they engage with, how often, or how much immersively.

People who watch a lot of horror movies, or play horror games as the killer, don't tend to become such themselves I imagine. Though one might argue this is do to the limited exposure or immersion of said VR.

One hears of online roleplay chatrooms of various deviancies. Which one can argue attracts of creates individuals with said interests. Not that such people 'become such in reality.
Though one might argue it's a nudge in a bad direction 'or alternatively a release valve, but I've heard mixed opinions on the effects of catharsis.
. . .

One relies on base assumptions of learned expectations for some tellings of 'reality.
Which is why people miss signs of abuse at times I suppose.
But I think many like 'knowing the truth of a matter, having the curtain pulled back clearly at some point, whether before, during, or after.
It's the 'befores that can leads people astray.
My government could not commit such an act.
Such an ecological disaster could not happen.
My family member could never do X.

VR is something we 'enter and 'leave into,
Propaganda and advertising aside.

Complete immersion, I imagine would be horrifying.
Suppose the military developed a program, they hooked recruits up to VR after having been drugged asleep. After they wake up in VR they act out the simulation, before being put to sleep again and the VR removed.

I imagine one would harbor fears that it 'was real. Like Ender's Game or the Last Starfighter, the VR being a ruse.

The more simulations become real, and memory altering science develops, the more some events could be true and 'not VR.
Though the inverse as well I suppose.

Perhaps some people would feel unfettered even in the most realistic of VR. Secure in belief that it is not real. Whether they can tell the difference in the VR does not matter, so long as they have belief or logic that X organization can be trusted.

Perhaps even the most realistic simulations would not change some people, so long as they did not believe it to be reality. As many people differentiate their actions in fantasies and VR vs reality.

I've never really thought beyond self soothing as a reason for people to eat when depressed,
But after thinking on it, depressed people are sometimes partially depressed by bad nutrition, so at times a desire to eat could also be there as a way for the body to try to get certain vitamins that the individual might be low on.
Though if a person just eats junk food and not enough of the needed nutrition, I imagine the individual is more likely to stay depressed.
Course one 'can be happy even with bad nutrition, or unhappy even with good nutrition.

I wonder if anyone has elected a chatbot as a government official before?
Perhaps a government official who pledges to only do whatever the chatbot tells him to do?

Saying the above post bc my house is about half a mile up the road from a railroad crossing. Weirdly, it’s kinda soothing hearing the train go by.

I would hate to live in one of the houses right next to the crossing though.

I've never tried a white noise machine before,
I've heard some people use white noise machines for meditation.
Though I've also heard some models can be too loud and ear damaging if left on too long.

I find some music nice to fall asleep to,
So long as it turns off before my alarm goes off, though if one doesn't have a worry about when to wake up, not a problem I guess.

Some people like music without lyrics that they can study to, music setting them at ease in a groove, while lyrics might pull away too much of their brain I suppose.

Had a clock once that would tick tick tick, didn't enjoy 'that when trying to sleep.

I dislike frog, crickets, and cicada noises,
But 'maybe a 'soft water sound could be nice.

5 x 10 easy...Doesn't matter if its up and down.

I cycled 2800 miles across the Southern US a few years ago.

100 miles per day approx, with 4 rest days.

Oceanside to Jekyll Island.

I consumed more Gatorade than is good for you.

Slept like a log.

I wonder what makes certain athletes “choke artists”

Like did they always respond poorly to pressure? If not, when did it get to them?

I wonder some athletes can become choke artists if their first choke was egregious enough. Like it just gets in their head that they don’t want to repeat the same choke, which just makes it happen again and again.
