I wonder who has a better track record of being right. Those who believe the conspiracy theories or those who mock the people who believe the conspiracy theories.

Hey, M'harman.

Y'all a nation of immigrants.

Whose 400 year old culture is founded on Europeans, Africans and anyone else who decided to rock up.

Currently headed by a Germano-Scottish President, married to a Slovenian.

And an Irish- Scottish Vice President, married to an Indian.

Mostly Europeans, but merged together and distanced from Europe since 1776.

Currently headed by a Germano-Scottish President, married to a Slovenian.
*American president, married to an American who assimilated.

And an Irish- Scottish Vice President, married to an Indian.

Genetically, I have a lot of German DNA? How much do I care about it, or German culture? Zero. As far as I’m concerned, my DNA is USA.

European thoughts American politics will never not be funny

All Trump wants to do is disallow pregnant illegals from crossing the borders, and having an “anchor baby.” That requires a specific interpretation of “birthright citizenship,” not getting rid of it. My parents are American citizens; it would not affect me.

I’m happy Trump won and I don’t care how many fits Europe wants to throw. I don’t care for European opinions on my great country, either.

As much as I think my county’s government is too involved in the private sector’s affairs, I’m glad I don't have to worry about the speech regulations and gun restrictions many European countries have. I already think too few Americans give the federal government pushback… so that should give you an idea of what I think about Europe’s culture.

About eight-in-ten U.S. murders in 2023 – 17,927 out of 22,830, or 79% – involved a firearm. That was among the highest percentages since 1968, the earliest year for which the CDC has online records. More than half of all suicides in 2023 – 27,300 out of 49,316, or 55% – also involved a gun.

Yes, gun-related deaths are high in the United States, and the US has some of the highest rates of gun violence in the world.

1. The US has a massive urban gang problem- the vast majority of US gun owners are not responsible.
2. Where gun control laws are introduced, knife and overall crime increase.
3. A government that disarms its populace can (and historically speaking, will) do more harm to its citizens than any collection of criminals.

Once again, you Europeans just don’t get it.

What is there to question gun kill people? There are more guns in America than people.

Gangs exist in most deprived urban centres.

And weapons exist because humans are not only clever, but also stupid.

And Americans are no more or less clever or stupid than anyone else.

And responsible gun owners are only responsible until such times as they are irresponsible.

And give their kids toys so that they can go play with their classmates.

And the massive US problem is the massive US problem, that the US massively created, and didn't just occur overnight.

Y'all to blame, not just the gangsters.

Please note that the direct impacts of gun control worsen overall crime when you compare a specific community before and after such legislation. No study has ever proven otherwise, although there’s been a lot of efforts to skew the data for such a purpose. If you want America’s crime to get even worse, you can have even more gun control.

The UK is considering arresting people who engage with certain online content or websites. Like I said… the government that disarms its populace can do far more harm than any collection of criminals… the UK is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to that.

And no, my rights do not end where fear-mongering over a rare event begins.

… I want to test your critical thinking skills, Shila. For the point you want to make, the data you cite contains an underlying assumption about a policy change you propose. What is it, and how would someone who is pro-gun argue the assumption is flawed?

Guns are the leading cause of deaths in America. To combat the killing pro gun advocates should also be pro life advocates.

You lack critical thinking skills.

The flawed assumption in your argument is that suicides and murders will go away if guns are gone. In both cases, other methods will be used instead.

Well, said rare events, though not the daily norm, are nonetheless not rare...(Depends upon how one chooses to define the word "rare", I suppose.)

And in the context of the USA, how do you control guns?

Simply passing laws, cannot suddenly bring under control a roughly estimated 500million firearms.

And "crime" is symptomatic of a society, so I would suggest that "gun control" is unlikely to affect criminal activity, either for better or worse.

But will simply compel the gun lobby to commission spurious studies, which result in skewed conclusions.

And I'm not sure what the the UK's approach to cyber crime has to do with US gun laws.

But fortunately the UK populace is not armed, save for highly regulated sporting guns.

Though for sure, if inconsiderate people see profit in selling guns to criminals, they will attempt to do so...Such careless greed is symptomatic of a selfish species.

And of course, everyone who transcends social laws, becomes a criminal...Such is the flimsy distinction between criminals and non-criminals. All of which combine to make up the populace.

I think gun control in America, is likely only to occur in incremental national law, and incremental sections of country.
America is big on freedom, and many of us like our guns, so I imagine it might go back and forth a while.
Though maybe some environments, such as more urbanization, will result in more of the population leaning against guns over time.

Some places, such as Japan, being more class based and I assume less freedom than America, might have made it easier for various governments to control the weapons.

I am also reminded of something Ursula K. Le Guin wrote of America.

Hmmmm

I cannot see a necessary connection between lax gun laws and freedom.

And from the safety of her ivory tower, Mrs Le Guin comments upon the stupidity of a turbulent, violence based 20th century.

In fact can you give me an example of a century of peace?

The 21st hasn't started very well.

The inanimate weapon will harm no one, but animate fools will.

And the biggest perpetrators of violence are not gangsters, but good ole everyday folk with a stupid agenda.
