Bertrand Russell was a 4 times married liberal pacifist who had to concede he was wrong about his opposition to fighting Hitler in WWII. Some thinker. Is it any wonder then that he irrationally concluded that God would be "offended" by those who doubt His existence?
Russell, like Pythagoras and Plato before him, believed that there existed a realm of truth that, unlike the messy contingencies of the everyday world of sense-experience, was immutable and eternal.
This realm was accessible only to reason, and knowledge of it, once attained, was not tentative or corrigible but certain and irrefutable. Logic, for Russell, was the means by which one gained access to this realm, and thus the pursuit of logic was, for him, the highest and noblest enterprise life had to offer.
Faith, it seems, was not alien to Russell.

Yet the bible has managed to change billions of atheists into Christians, and has inserted religion into literature, art, and culture of every country on Earth, and was still relevant enough for comment 2,000 years later.
This goes to show how anti-theism can corrupt an otherwise intelligent man.
But his caveàt is "read properly", which apparently means, " interpreted stupidly ignoring history".
Much of the left's hate speech bears greater similarity to a psychological disorder than to standard political discourse. The hatred is blinding, producing logical contradictions* that would be impossible to sustain were it not for the central element faith plays in the left's new religion.
