@Melcharaz
there is a way to make blocking actually block words and identifiers (for lack of better words) of people via javascript (and webviewer for certain phones) to make it where i no longer see their names and posts. why has there not been a similar development on this website? Im sure that you can implement it if you wanted to but it seems like there is no desire to. Is the nuiance of coding it that great for a website?
I can implement many things, but there are priorities and hiding comments and posts is not one, at the moment. I am not even mentioning the amount of potential edge cases for a feature like that.

almost 3 days and not a response. It seems to me that you have no intrest in developing it
in which case, you allow spread of harassment, trolling and poor conduct which hurts a site dedicated to debates, instead of helping it.
if a site cant survive just because people no longer see a persons comments or debates, well, it wasnt much of a site to begin with.
Frankly, I fail to understand what you are trying to say here.

All of that apart, do you understand that this is a website that doesn't even cover its expenses? And you are demanding stuff like it's unicorn start-up with millions of dollars of investments. Man, I don't know, you could at least donate something just for decency sake before demanding stuff in such a disrespectful manner. Have some appreciation for my free work here, okay?

seems like you responded finally! good.
sucks i have to say hard things to get anyone notice this.

lets take this apart.

I can implement many things, but there are priorities and hiding comments and posts is not one, at the moment.

good, at least you are confessing that you dont care about the mental state of those on your website. free speech has a price, the evils of language. You dont want to empower people to block what is evil in their/this site, therefore you make everyone more resentful of the evils they percieve.

I am not even mentioning the amount of potential edge cases for a feature like that.
thats not a problem to consider when initating it, tomorrows problems. its a poor excuse to not try. they can be fixed as they come up, you and the other developer(s) want to make the site accessable so more will come. no one wants to come to a site where you get people mocking or trolling you for what you think and can do nothing about it, except leave anyways.

Frankly, I fail to understand what you are trying to say here.
kids bully kids and make them lash out at others. the bullies here use words and they dont have a teacher or room to seperate them.

All of that apart, do you understand that this is a website that doesn't even cover its expenses?
thats a poor business strategy tbh. if you cant cover your bills, why keep working? you not only hurt yourself, but others by your financial decisions. just close the site down and do something different, we arent responsible for your choices.

And you are demanding stuff like it's unicorn start-up with millions of dollars of investments.
not hardly, i even asked you what is needed to block others 3 days ago. No answer. and now you whine and treat me like the bad guy because you didnt even tell me the work needed. i dont do coding for this website, you have to tell us what is fesible.
Also, it doesnt take millions of dollars to make a script to alter a user ai. (not with my phone anyways) it might take 5 months of work though.
I never "demanded" anything, i asked and got no answer.

Man, I don't know, you could at least donate something just for decency sake before demanding stuff in such a disrespectful manner.
why would i donate money to a website that wont even consider my questions and then attacks me for pointing out they arent intrested in my proposal? I cant even get a RO without the mods, why would i invest in a site that i cant have my questions treated seriously?

again, i didnt demand anything. Also my comment wasnt disrespectful. you took it as an attack on your work. What i was trying to say (that you asserted was me disrespecting you/website) is that a website that falls apart because people can no longer see other people's comments, didnt have a strong foundation. That is ASSUMING the website would fall apart.

no tldr's. you need a break or something, let the website go, get some money, get more people to help you. Then try again

luke 14:28-30
28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? 29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, 30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

TLDR for you, if you don't feel like reading the above comment:

People disagree with my views on my debate site. This is very wrong and evil! Is it the fault of those people? No, it must be the fault of the website owner, who clearly doesn't care about my mental health. Why doesn't he spend several days of unpaid labor in order to create a mostly useless feature that only I want? Because he's not doing this, he must be financially irresponsible. He should probably shut down this stupid site anyways. Wait, why is he mad at me now? That's so unfair!!1!!!!1

I reproduced the quoting glitch again:

Firstly the error message for quotes in forum posts wrongly says the max char is 30000, it clearly is less. If you then ever activate that error on a page and cut down characters to do the post, you end up incapable of posting to the page again no matter what until you refresh (it will say you have exceeded maximum chars even if your post is only a few characters long).

I am not sure if quoting triggers it or the max char count or both.

Thanks mate, I will check the error message, must have been a bad copy paste. When it comes to the glitch, I think the issue is the editor that we use here, it generates HTML tags and they can bloat the content and therefore trigger the validation errors, even though the amount of the actual content inside the tags is not that large.

I don't know whether this has been reported or not (this is a very long thread).
As of today (April 11, 2023) I noticed that for user Math_Enthusiast, the site shows that they have participated in two debates and have a 75% win rate. The 75% is either an error, or I don't understand how that number is calculated. I noticed something like this for a different user but neglected to document it.

One was a draw, draws are 1/2 of a win

Thanks. I didn't know how draws were scored (or if they were scored).

I just realised you can no longer filter won vs lost vs tied debates in someone's profile.

There’s been a wave of last minute votebombs changing debate outcomes.

Please give us tools to combat this, even if the tools are imperfect.

I don’t mind if I have to do manual calculations for direct rating adjustments (yes, the exact shifts will be lost; but a close approximation is massively preferable to no correction at all).

Maybe you can do this thing where a picture that is with your profile is a profile picture.  A song that is with your profile is a profile song.

Get profile songs on here.  People can mute if they don't want to listen to it.

Have you tried getting in contact with the owner of the debate.org domain and seeing if you could broker a deal for it? I think it could help the site blow up. Paying directly might not be feasible, but you could maybe offer them a percentage of ad revenue or something. (This should increase revenue for both you and them, since you have a working site and they have a well-known domain.)

I bring this up because Wylted has been working to increase our user base, and this is one of the points that came up.

I would like to be able to post images without a link.  I like my identity being hidden.

You'd just have to use a platform which doesn't tie to your identity. Even creating a secondary account on one could do it.

Not that it'll happen here, but I do love embedded images into arguments.

Is there an app for DART?

And is the Corrupt-A-Wish forum game gone? I can't search for it and find it
