I think the leaderboard would make sense if tied ratings were given the same rank. At this point, the top 30th and 31st debaters have the same exact rating point, but one is ranked lower than the other for no reasonable origin, hmm...

I would think that ratings of [2000, 1743, 1698, 1698, 1500, 1500, 1482] would have ranks [1,2,3,3,5,5,7] relatively as so on.

Make so that if a 2-hour time is chosen, make sure that the hours in which the debate can be accepted is a field to be filled out(but not must: If not filled, the system automatically assumes 0-24). Starting from---ending at, with the time zone being a select option.

I would be very sad if I created a 2-hour debate, had someone accepted it in my sleep, then lost because I forfeited by sleeping. This would alone make 2-hour formats undesirable normally because you can't control where the other side is and you may FF.

If this isn't a good idea, tell me why.

For FF debates the other side automatically wins. For both FFs it is an automatic tie. There is no reason to vote here because of course it will come down to one side winning.

To specify, it should be an automatic win for A if:
  • A and B debate and the rounds filled are as such:
    • 1:0, 2:0, 3:0, 4:0, 5:0 where A is the only one filling anything out
    • 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, 5:2 where A fills out MORE than 2x the rounds than B
And vice versa. 0:0 should result in automatic tie.

I highly suggest there be a /concede command where you type it in the comment you automatically concede and lose the debate without having to wait days for people to vote in favor of the other side. I think /concede is a good enough string complicated enough so mostly nobody would accidentally spam it unintentionally but simple enough that everyone can understand and type it(given how vital the term "concede" is being treated in usage here, we have like one of these in 10 debates, geez).

On the automatic loss for FF debates that Intelligence suggested, I don't believe that the points assigned for winning would be that simple. I have definitely gotten different point amounts for different debates, but I'm not sure if it's calculated directly by the point distribution or if the number of votes would matter. Like, if I  got one vote 100% in my favor vs. 1 vote 75% in my favor vs. 10 votes 100% in my favor, how many points does one get?

That was intentional, because my concern here is that the mods may not have a way to reach out to a user to give him or her a warning, for example. And that can be problematic.

I am trying to be careful with such things but I imagine we can come up with a decent approach to automate things.

Also as I mentioned somewhere before, I am working on a completely new version of the website, frankly with the same ugly interface but with much more well-thought system, especially for debates. I think first I will release this improved version but only with a subset of the features that we already have here and then polish those as well and put them back.  For example, the system with the profile questions is a mess and I will need to modify it in a quite a big way.

I think it would be nice to be able to filter banned users from the Leaderboards. And possibly also people who are super inactive (>1 years since last login)?

The official Dart policy on forfeits:
"Repeated forfeitures waives the need to consider arguments (you still may, but by the choice of one side to miss at least 40% of the debate, the requirement ceases."
The requirement to consider arguments is waived, but a loss isn't a foregone conclusion. Theoretically if one had a knockdown argument in R1 and forfeited the rest, they could still win, albeit without Conduct points. I haven't personally seen this happen, but I have seen people lay down an argument in R1 that either never gets rebutted or was just too good to refute.

I get randomly logged out after a certain period of time has passed, especially on my phone. That could be the reason but I wouldn't know the full logistics. When I log into my account on a separate device it didn't log me out on the other devices

Yeah, we used to have them but then I was doing refactoring and "temporarily" dropped them and you know, nothing is as permanent as something temporary, but I am almost done with the full rewrite and they will be back
