Rules are not meaningless. Rules are a result of people not wanting to operate in an environment where everything nasty is allowed and where noone other themselves is there to stick up for them. People don't all want to hurt others in order to enjoy a website or neighbourhood, they want peace of mind.

Saying 'be nice to each other, we don't need rules' is like when the right-wing say 'give money to charity, we don't need any tax'. Not everyone plays ball and there must be moderators and such to ensure that would-be victims have peace of mind and that actual victims get justice for what happened to them. They also must ensure that the perpetrators learn why what they did was wrong and how to improve theier behavior.

Change my vote to Yes3 for the advertisement question, since I want that to be the winner and not text-only ads. Text-only ads are actually the only ad that will never be able to be properly allowed on DART as it's the kind of ad that violates CoC for a person to even be doing here.

Press, 'No' means 'allowed to vote' in question 2. You word the question so strange in your results that the answer No means the opposite.

1. No
(Don't really like a person being harassed will also be the person who will be carrying out if they are being harassed. Mainly you would have to trust the mods so much they are not using harassment as a form of removing people they don't like in order for the community to buy it but it is probably a good thing but I don't like it)
2. Yes1
(Conflict of interest and it is not the best to thing as a user standpoint. Existing community would know better what they would like and moderators influencing this can ruin users enjoyment on the site. Under assumption they are not stopped by other factors that stop them from picking what they like.
3. Yes2
(Seems like Yes1 is a half step. When removing votes, after the debate has ended, does change who won so why wouldn't you change the rankings to show that?)
4. Yes
(I found DDO through the polling section so that is another way you can find new people.)
5. Abstain
(I use Adblock so there is no point taking my poll for this when I don't even have adverts.)

You need to redo this MEEP if you word question 2, the way it is worded. The answer 'No' is the opposite to what the question makes 'no' to be.

I understand that the wording seems a bit confusing, but "No" indeed does mean that you believe mods should be able to vote in MEEPs the same way that any other user can.

You all do not need babysitters.  You just need to treat other people respectfully; and that applies both to the mods and to the users.  We can all get along in peace without so many idiotic fucking rules.

This is a pretty big reason why I liked Ragnar's recent move of reducing the size of the CoC so significantly. It isn't going to happen all at once but I think that big move and several other more discreet ones are an indication that the mods are slowly taking the site in the right direction.

Well that is good, and to the extent that that's what he's doing, it's a step in the right direction.

I've been shocked and dismayed at the level of over-regulation on this site.  It's as if Dolores Umbridge and Hillary Clinton sat down with a team of bureaucrats to develop the site's rules and structure.  Totally insane.

More insane is the fact that the legacy of bsh1's "moderation" wasn't destroyed as soon as he exfiltrated himself from the site.   Even this process, another legacy of his mismanagement and nonsense, is insane.  The fact that it's still here.  That this is still how changes to the "code of conduct" are proposed.

It's nauseating.

Rules that are good develop from observations and practices.  These were imposed from the top down.

Just because someone gets fired doesn't render all work they did as worthy of burning. It's their career that's burned, not the goods/services they helped enable.

5. Yes2 but I will use Adblock and Privacy Badger. I loathe the tracking of preferences and profiling involved with advertising of that sort.
Why not vote yes4 or yes3 then?

I later changed to Yes3, but the reason I didn't vote Yes4 is firstly that text ads totally violate the CoC and secondly that no one reads those things and it would make Mike bankrupt.

I will say yes, but only if they are limited. I want them to be the future form of MEEPs as they are easier to read, but I don't want people from all over the internet saying how good is the Toyota Supra.
