How about the name DArC pronounced Darcy?
-->
@DebateArt.com
Are there mods here? I haven't come across the rule yet, looks like we may have a trouble maker in the health forum. Starting with insults where there were none to begin with....
-->
@DebateArt.com
I would also like to know what level of moderation this site will have, and what kind of conduct will be allowed or disallowed. I know it's too early for a fleshed out formal policy or anything, but if you could give me a general idea that would be cool.
-->
@EtrnlVw
I am afraid not yet, I will look into it a bit later
-->
@RationalMadman
Not bad, but I think I prefer Dart.
-->
@Castin
It would be a real shame for a nice new forum not to have any mods, looks like Bulproof followed us here. That's too bad.
-->
@Smithereens
if DDO = Debate Dot Org
then DADC = Debate Art Dot Com
-->
@TheDredPriateRoberts
DADC is not catchy at all is the issue.
DArC (Darcy) sounds attractive imo.
I'm assuming that Earth is 1harderthanyouthink and vagabond is FaustianJustice. Am I wrong?
-->
@Swagnarok
Are you serious? FaustianJustice had content to his posts, that's Bulproof for sure.

1. Will the front page change to look similar to that of DDO's, or will it always just display instructions for creating debates?
2. I've noticed some other users have uploaded avatars under a width of 140 pixels, but it won't let me upload one that small for some reason...any idea why?
3. Will voting moderation exist on this site? One major problem I've seen occur on other debating sites is that ability for anyone to cast a very poorly written vote in one debater's favor. I've seen an option on another site that differentiates "casual voting" from "formal voting"...the former of which would allow judges to cast votes without them being moderated, and the latter of which requires the vote to explanatory and fairly detailed as to why the voter made their decision. I'd strongly suggest looking into creating a feature like that, so that debaters who wish to receive constructive feedback on their debating ability may be able to.
I'm really impressed with this site so far. I don't know who you are on DDO but this place is a 10/10 ^^
Dart is gay. would prefer DA.

@EtrnlVw
Yeah I agree, it's not Faust. But why do you think Vagabond is bul? Can't there be more than one member with a hostile posting style?
- I suggest to use the nickname DDC for Debateart Dot Com, the same way we used DDO for Debate Dot Org.
-->
@DebateArt.com
- I'm not receiving notifications, as in DDO.
-->
@Yassine
This should give you a notification
-->
@TheHammer
- Indeed. I think it was my connection. Shortly after I sent that text, I got a notification. Unfortunately, clicking it doesn't take me directly to the post, I have to look for it.

It's hard to answer you regarding the moderation level at this point. We'd need to think and come up with the moderation system from the scratch. Obviously it makes sense to appoint some willing people a "moderator" role and give some abilities to handle stuff but it's just a top of an iceberg, I believe it's possible to create a system (not perfect though but still) which would prevent the bad content in the first place. At least a system that would make it discouraging but again, it needs some thinking.

1) The front page is a pain in the butt, what we have now there is abomination because I simply had no idea what else to put there and truth be told, I am not sure I can come up with something really nice myself, most likely I am gonna try to find somebody with at least some taste for beauty and help me haha But it's definitely going to change.
2) I don't think they have uploaded avatars under 140, they just get downsized when you upload images :)
3) Debate voting is another extremely difficult thing to implement right. At the moment it's implemented in the most naive way so truth be told, it's not any better than in many other places but I promise we'll come up with some well-thought full-blown system at some point :)
Thanks, glad you like it :)

@Yassine
Notification system will be improved as well, just not too soon I am afraid :(

@DebateArt.com
- What do you think about displaying the most popular / mosy viewed debates on the front page? Maybe including popular forum posts on there too would be a cool feature.
- I just noticed that when I receive a notification that I was mentioned in a forum post, and I click on the link to the thread, it takes me to the first page...not the page I was mentioned it. It's kind of a pain to have to sift through the pages to find the exact post I was mentioned in.
Also, clicking on the notif bell takes me to a different page rather than displaying a drop-down. It would save time to have a simple notif drop-down, I think.

@Varrack
Thanks for the suggestion!

That's what we'll have most likely as it seems to have the most sense to me as well :)

That was mentioned a few times as well and it's a good idea but most likely it will be implemented a bit later because at the moment the main priority is adding the essential stuff, like moderation system, proper voting system and etc. But I know about that issue and it will be solved at some point :)

@Castin
Nope, it's bully without a doubt :)

I understand, the site's still very early stage. I only asked because on DDO people could basically get away with anything, and I'm really ready for a forum where that stops. Particularly when it comes to posts that consist of only hateful personal attacks and zero substance or contribution to the discussion.
A moderating system that "would prevent the bad content in the first place" sounds interesting. I'm not sure how that would work, except in the case of spambots, but my curiosity is piqued.

@DebateArt.com
Who was your DDO account?
-->
@EtrnlVw
Nope, it's bully without a doubt :)
Lol. All right, man. I admit the posting styles are similar. But did you notice that Vagabond's avatar is Jesus? The attempted scientific recreation of Jesus, anyway.
-->
@Castin
Yep sure did, I think I saw that 10 years ago lol, not sure when it came out but I was watching it on TV. Pretty funny, I would think Jesus to be more on the thin side, because of the fasting. A lot of spiritual people fast, I'm sure He wasn't chunky.
-->
@Castin
The caveman in that picture looks bewildered too, another bizarre feature Jesus would never have had. I'm surprised, it looks more like I would envision Peter lol! but not Jesus. That cross-eyed caveman looks more like Bulproof I would imagine.
So, can someone tell me who the mods are (specifically, are they anyone I would know from DDO)? Also, who create this site. Seems nifty. Very much like DDO in many ways.
Still kind of heartbroken over the old site, but it's nice to have a place to relocate.
