- You're cut off completely from family and friends still in the church.

Though I heard many things about this beautiful country. From what I saw in the many turkish soap operas I used to watch, the turkish society seemed to be kind of liberal eventhough it is said that Turkey is a country with muslim majority. I mean, I consider Islam as a represive and intolerable religion specially to women, but in the soap operas you can see women behaving freely, dressing as they wish and discussing with men equally, exactly like any western country.
I know there are two or three factions of islam, one more represive and radical than the other, but what happens in Turkey is really laudable considering that Islam is a fkn violent religion.
Do you have something to say about my point of view? Am I wrong? Was I deceived by the turkish soap operas and the reality is completely different?
