Welcome to Inheritance Cycle Mafia. This game is based off of the popular series by Christopher Paolini. I just recently re-read the series and it was even better than the first time I read it, which inspired me to create this game. Each of you is a character from the book series.

There is a theme split in this game. As always, Mafia will be given the opportunity to ask if any two roles and if any two characters are in the game at any point in time, to which I will truthfully answer. I will not answer any questions about any roles besides your own, except for roles in the graveyard. 


Just some quick rules:

1) No editing or deleting posts of any kinds
2) No copy/pasting your role PM (please paraphrase)
3) No cryptography of any kind
4) No communication outside of the mafia game
5) No liking/upvoting posts after you die
6) No using ChatGPT/AI to paraphrase your PM

I reserve the right to add any other rules that are commonplace that I may have forgotten to list.

If you have any questions, please PM me directly. Also, PM me if you would like a vote count at any point in time, though I will try to be proactive in posting counts. All DPs will be 72 hours and NPs 24 hours unless the NP ends with everyone submitting actions earlier.

Oh, wasn't expecting this to start today, but okay. Hope everyone had a good Christmas that celebrated it.

Personally, I know basically nothing about this series, other than that it involves dragons and stuff, so I'm pretty much going to be useless on that front.

Evening, all. I haven't read this series, but I'll take some time to look it up in more detail later. It would definitely be worthwhile to see if we can at least speculate on what Mafia might have access to, role-wise.


I can put a character list together and say what I think pie would most likely put in the game, make a list for antagonists as well. Durza is like the main villain in the first book, but this is for the whole series so I am not exactly sure he would rank higher than other villains.

Never played it before, though I've watched a couple videos on it and understand how it works. I'm curious where you're going with this.

It would definitely be worthwhile to see if we can at least speculate on what Mafia might have access to, role-wise.
I'd like to go back to this statement. I find it a bit odd - none of us should have any idea what roles exist in the game aside from our own individual roles, except for the mafia. How are we meant to speculate in a meaningful and productive way without just having people out their roles? Pretty much anything is on the table at this point.

Durza is like the main villain in the first book, but this is for the whole series so I am not exactly sure he would rank higher than other villains. 
Noted. I don't think Pie would make this game a simple heroes vs villains game, however. It's worth noting that in Pie's Heroes of Olympus Mafia, the two mafia players were the two main characters of the series, so main character claims should not be treated as safe town merely on the basis of character.

I'd like to go back to this statement. I find it a bit odd - none of us should have any idea what roles exist in the game aside from our own individual roles, except for the mafia. How are we meant to speculate in a meaningful and productive way without just having people out their roles? Pretty much anything is on the table at this point. 
This does feel like it would send us down a rabbit hole. Maybe the idea here is that we could use some knowledge of the books to inform what roles could be present for certain characters, but even then, as you point out in your next post, we can only speculate about whether those characters are town or scum.

That being said, I do think there's some value to considering which roles associate closely with which characters. My association between character and role is pretty tight.

I can put a character list together and say what I think pie would most likely put in the game, make a list for antagonists as well.
A list might be helpful, if only to give us some direction (I can base it off of the various "main character" lists I can find, though I'd probably have some omissions and inclusions that you wouldn't), but I think we should be careful about how much stock we put into it. I know I've been burned before by expectations of who should be in a given game based on their status in a given piece of media. Hell, I've used those expectations to my advantage as scum before.

It might be worthwhile to say if our characters are on the "Important Characters" list here. I ask specifically because mine isn't. This might narrow some things down.

Regarding the Secret Hitler similarity. I don't believe in this as much as I did last night, but I noticed this line from the Inheriwiki page about Durza, who seems like a potential Mafia-aligned character:
Durza was bound to Galbatorix's service by a large number of spells but this control was always precarious due to the King never finding out Durza's true name.[1] In addition, the Shade was always seeking ways to undermine Galbatorix.[1]
This has me wondering if we might have a gimmick at play which could involve evils not having full information- like lacking a factional chat or not mutually knowing each other's identities immediately.

Just want to throw that out there. We might want to keep an eye out for codes, if this is a realistic possibility.

That's not super surprising to me, usually there's at least one or two characters who aren't main characters in a game like this. Otherwise, you get something like BotW Mafia where the Town can easily solve the game DP1. (Honestly, the fact that the Town managed to lose that one is downright embarrassing.) I will say that my character is on the Important Characters list.

This has me wondering if we might have a gimmick at play which could involve evils not having full information- like lacking a factional chat or not mutually knowing each other's identities immediately.
Interesting theory; I'll keep that in mind. A question for the veterans here -- when was the last game that had no private mafia chat, if you can remember?

Interesting theory. It could be a Lone Wolf situation, or possibly a TP (a 7-2-1 isn't out of the question). This isn't something I would have thought about, and while it may not lead anywhere, it's worth considering at least.

Point taken. There might be something going on, but giving some of scum access to this information and not others seems a bit weird.
