Saying you "softed this really heavily" is a harder sell. You most definitely provided some strange details for it that didn't jive with Innocent Child, but at best, that's softing that you have a role that isn't Innocent Child, in which case... why claim it at all? It felt like just a means to automatically get you through DP1, something you could have accomplished just by claiming Friendly Neighbor since that is clearly confirmable. Was the goal to trip up scum or town with this? Also, hard to ignore that you're claiming to have visited the person who was NK'd.
My goal was to leave my role ambiguous enough that scum wouldn't have a clear plan to counter it while also making it specific enough that no other role satisfies what I specified. If you can name any other role that
-unambiguously confirms my affiliation
-can be roleblocked
-relies on the person I'm targeting surviving
then go ahead.

We can't do a whole lot to interpret Pie's vote and I'm loath to use one of his two remaining votes to determine get more information unless absolutely necessary, but given the fact that you are the only one with a blank spot on your claim, I'd say it's worth filling in the gap. We can come back to Austin's claim after you've given your role.

Yes, I'm the regular Hider. It wasn't specified in my PM, but I asked about it because I've seen the regular and weak version online.
My goal was to leave my role ambiguous enough that scum wouldn't have a clear plan to counter it while also making it specific enough that no other role satisfies what I specified. I looked up the role and realized I had it confused with the Friendly Neighborizer, which confirms itself pretty that you're town aligned). From what I'm reading, the Friendly Neighbor doesn't confirm your affiliation, it just tells you whether your target is a player who is town-aligned. That seems especially strange given that we now know that Barney was the Cop. Considering you two are the only claimed informative roles in the game, I don't think that that pseudo-CC necessarily mean you're lying, especially if scum have a role that modifies their alignment (which, given that Casey is confirmed to have been the Miller, is plausible).
That being said, it doesn't (again, to my knowledge) "unambiguously confirm your affiliation", and the rest of those points apply to a lot of other roles.
Also, before we go any further on other discussion, is anyone else having more trouble with error messages recently? I've almost double-posted a couple of times because the site just does not consistently allow me to submit messages or move pages without an error, and then it's a 50-50 chance that it will actually submit.

Ah, I figured I must have misread something. I read it as you receiving confirmation that your target is town, not their receiving the information that you're town. That makes more sense. I retract what I said about yours not being an affiliation-confirmable role. That's my bad, it makes more sense for the name of the role as well.
The Friendly Neighborizer is essentially a mason who recruits people and then confirms their affiliation when they arrive. Similar concept with a recruitment included.
