As long as characters aren’t insanely obvious of roles, it may be prudent to lock people into character claims. Then when everyone full claims, we can see if the justifications make sense with the character.

I think I played in 2015 at latest and lunatic was considered an experienced player when I started. I think barney may have also started prior to 2015. I don't know when pie started. It's possible he is, but given what I think his age is, I somewhat doubt it.
I played in the very first mafia games on DDO. LogicalMaster introduced the concept, in 2008/2009 somewhere around there. Doesn't make me good or the best at the game, but definitely the most experienced player here.

Maybe I am a little tired, but not sure how useful claiming our character is.
Why? It locks people into claims early on. Then when everyone role claims, we can see how valid their roles stack up against their character. Unless you said something like “Cop” which I stg if you did

Depends if bear farts stink to begin with.
The butterfly effect comes to mind… someone time travels and steps on a butterfly, the tiny changes ripple and grow, until massive changes occur. We need not witness everything in the middle to be affected by the results. So similarly, a bear farts and the stink kills a butterfly, Hawaii is spared a massive storm; unfortunately a bear fart missed the butterfly responsible for Hurricane Maria, so Puerto Rico was still devistated.
Ultimately, we need more bears farting on butterflies if we’re to survive the years to come. We need not see the farts occur (they’re usually invisible anyways) to reap the benefits. I suggest we assist the bears in reproducing at a faster rate….
