Hello, I'd like to thank Intelligence_06 for engaging in this debate with me.

The key foundation for the prohibition of abortion stems from 4 key points, these are:

Abortion violates the very most fundamental right of a human being, the right to life.
A fetus is not simply a clump of cells, but a unique individual with its own DNA.
It is different to drug use in the sense that you aren't harming just yourself, you are harming another life exclusive from yours, hence making it not a victimless crime.
Pregnancy doesn't doom you to parenthood, there are alternatives you can seek out. These include adoption centres, foster care etc.

To me, abortion seems like a way of trying to cop out of being a parent, or going through the struggle of pregnancy. And it wasn't until recently I was aware how alarmingly high the abortion rate is. Approximately 73 million abortions occur yearly according to the World Health Organisation, this is more than 6 out of 10 unwanted pregnancies. This bakes into the western world a culture that will prioritise simple convenience over a voiceless human life.
