I agree with your main point. Nonetheless, I disagree with your point in being conservatives are mentally stronger.
Your statement essentially propounds that conservatives are ‘mentally stronger’ as they do not value empathy as much as progressives do. However I would say that empathy is what creates mental strength.
To immediately accept some for what it is (e.g. poverty, health) is not resilient. If we accept, let’s say, poorer health care as a given, then we get no closer to a solution. If there is a way for everyone to be healthy, then us as a collective should try to achieve it.
If we suffer certain problems that can be resolved, then we should blame the thing preventing the resolution.
