Oh no! How could my innocent Nd get banned?

Nd was banned for creating dozens upon dozens of multiple accounts after repeated warnings (and posting to the forum with these accounts). He will be back in 4 days. 

Every time a user gets banned, it does not require some kind of public announcement thread asking why. Just PM me for that information. Not only do threads like this instigate unnecessary drama, but they also embarrass users and make it harder for them to come back and unobtrusively reintegrate themselves after their ban is over. 

Nd2 was banned for having 30 (yes, that is the precise number) multi-accounts and for making personal attacks using those multis.

Dozens of alt accounts in one short period at DART? 

My bad. I didn't know what he did...He was pretty innocent on DART.

Correct. He admitted to his misconduct when confronted, and was warned about his behavior when first caught. After we discovered that he was continuing to create multis even after the warning, we were forced to act.

If I recall correctly you don't need to confirm the email address to use your account. This is something that definitely should be looked into.

I agree. I know you had to confirm on DDO to actually vote and stuff. I contacted Airmax and he verified me.

If that does occur, I don't think we need to do that retroactively, for accounts which already exist. But yeah, it might be a useful feature to have when users create an account. I also think to create an account, users should be required to fill out a captcha (but only when they create the account, not when they log in to an existing account).

Yeah definitely considering I've seen some new accounts just vote on a single debate (with poor to no RFD) and just get by with it. Having something like that will be helpful. That'll be in a project coming up. Right now Mike and I are working on group PMs and revamping our admin panel. 

I agree with bsh1 here. Spam bots easy prevent on DDO if the captcha was included when creating versus logging in

I feel sorry that he has virtually no life. He is in his 30's and somehow thinks making as many multis as his age on some obscure site is a worthwhile use of his time.

The problem we have is that the way Mike coded the PM feature. We're gonna have to go through and re-write the entire code for it. Oh well.

And before anyone asks, Poly was banned for frequently making personal attacks, such that they accumulated into an un-ignorable mass. She was given a choice between 2 days of not posting in the forums (allowing her to still make use of the site in other ways) or being banned for 3 days. By posting above, she chose the latter option.

Thanks, I suppose. I am trying to explore giving users non-ban options for punishments, as I did with Poly, to help make moderation feel less onerous.
