It would concern me and cause fear. That doesn't mean it should be labeled as a hate crime though.Â
The fact that a crime against some stranger would concern you and cause you to fear, is exactly why it should be labeled as a hate crime. Itâs a form of terrorism, just like the KKK used to terrorize black people. If Protestants were being killed while going to vote, it could cause many Protestants to not try to vote.
But labeling an idea or act of violence a "hate crime" doesn't do anything.
Thatâs false, labeling it a hate crime increases the penalties if found guilty and can cause the justice system of police investigations and AG prosecution to prioritize resources in obtaining a conviction.
Sticking labels on crimes doesn't solve anything.
Do you think all crimes receive the same amount of resources and effort?
Do you think resources to solve and prosecute crimes is unlimited?
