100 years ago, scientists said that gay is wrong and a mental illness.

Today, scientists say that gay is okay.

Therefore, science changes its mind all the time.

Bible never changes its mind because Bible is the Infallible Word of God. Bible can never be proven wrong.

Science was proven wrong many times. For example, scientists used to claim that smoking is healthy.

Science changes. But my Bible doesnt.

My Bible will say the same thing in 20 years as it does today. Scientists wont. Thats because Bible is infallible, and science makes mistakes all the time.

Would you trust a person who changes his mind often?

Nuh-uh.

Shouldn't you be saying that you do not believe in Science because you are no Einstein?

Einstein advocated for use of atomic bombs, but then changed his mind some time after. That means he admitted he was wrong.

You seem to have science confused with shamanism.

Anytime there is any respect some conman is going to roll up and try to use it.

Science is reason applied to repeatable observation, often but not necessarily of natural phenomenon.

Just because someone claims to be a scientist does not mean their pronouncements were the result of applying reason to repeatable observation.

Science didn't say "gay is wrong" people role playing as scientist did. Science didn't change its mind. You reference the bible, but if you were applying the same standard you would have to admit the preachers and the bishops are always changing their minds and disagreeing with each other.

Also they cut parks of the bible and keep re-translating it...

Finally, I see you now have the racial pride flag as your avatar. The logical next step is to start to put communist icons on it.

Science didn't say "gay is wrong" people role playing as scientist did.
You cannot separate science from scientist. Science only exists in scientist's head and in what scientist has written.

Therefore, if science comes from scientists and scientists were proven wrong, then science was proven wrong.
Science comes from scientists and scientists were proven wrong.
Science was proven wrong.

Science is reason applied to repeatable observation
Reason requires a person. Person can be wrong. Reason can be wrong. Observation can be wrong. Science can be wrong.

Just because someone claims to be a scientist does not mean their pronouncements were the result of applying reason to repeatable observation.
So you cannot know who is a scientist using science and who is not. Another reason not to trust science.

Science didn't change its mind.
Science is produced by scientists. Scientists produced different contradicting science. Contradicting means changing mind. Therefore, science changed its mind.

but if you were applying the same standard you would have to admit the preachers and the bishops are always changing their minds and disagreeing with each other.
I didnt say that bishops are infallible. I said Bible is infallible. Bible didnt change its mind.

Science was proven wrong.
First premise is false. There are no poison wells in logic.

Science is reason applied to repeatable observation
Reason requires a person. Person can be wrong.
A person can be wrong but reason cannot be. The error originates from imperfect information or imperfect reason.

Just because someone claims to be a scientist does not mean their pronouncements were the result of applying reason to repeatable observation.
So you cannot know who is a scientist using science and who is not. Another reason not to trust science.
At most it is a reason to learn the science when there are clues you are being misled.

I didnt say that bishops are infallible. I said Bible is infallible.
I'm not saying scientists are infallible. I say reason is infallible.

There are no poison wells in logic.
Logic is produced by the scientist. Scientist can be wrong. Logic can be wrong.

A person can be wrong but reason cannot be. The error originates from imperfect information or imperfect reason.
So first you say that reason cannot be wrong, but then you say that it can be wrong. However, we know that reason is wrong because scientists produce reason. Scientists are wrong. Therefore, reason is wrong.

At most it is a reason to learn the science when there are clues you are being misled.
Science changes all the time. Since you can never have all knowledge, you can never know if your reason is correct.

I'm not saying scientists are infallible. I say reason is infallible.
Reason is part of a scientist. Scientist is wrong. Reason is wrong. We have already seen where scientist's reason was wrong regarding gays and smoking. Scientist used reason to tell us that gays are wrong, then he changed his mind and proved himself wrong.

Therefore, reason and logic can be wrong, since they are part of people and people are wrong.

Bible, on the other hand, never changes and was never proven wrong. So people should learn the Bible.

I have been to the doctor as a kid, not really by choice. I have been forced to take psychiatric drugs too. Nothing by choice.

Well I'd ask you to support that statement, but I'm afraid you'd dissect someone.

Don't think you quite understand what science actually is, or what it sets out to achieve, or the processes involved.

It would be pretty amazing if scientists got everything right, every time.

Oh.

By the way.

I wanted to do some research into gene mapping.

Could you tell me where to find it in the Bible please.

Don't think you quite understand what science actually is
The knowledge located in people's brain and written knowledge.

I was tempted to say "correct knowledge", but we know that scientists were wrong about many things that they claimed were correct. It means that what was believed to be science was wrong. Therefore, science is wrong.

I wanted to do some research into gene mapping.
Why would you do that when you can pray instead and think about God.

Nope that isn't science at all.

Science is the systematic study of the natural environment and it's processes, through observation and experiment.

Why do you utilise the internet when all you need to do is pray and think of a GOD?

Study means learning knowledge. That doesnt change anything in my definition. We already established that science can be wrong in its observation and experiment, so no need to repeat that.

Why do you utilise the internet when all you need to do is pray and think of a GOD?
God told me to use internet. Obviously.

Systematic study and experimentation will inevitably get things wrong as well as right.

That's the essence of systematic study and experimentation.

Knowledge can be any old stuff.

The bible for instance.

God told me to use the internet. Obviously
Nope, you just made that up.

You use the internet, because scientists worked it out for you.

Well, that cant be true. What really happened is that God gave those scientists an internet and told them to give it to me. Yeah, that makes sense.

My parents didn't need science to raise me.

Well, If we were able to analyse your upbringing thoroughly, what are the chances that your parents never ever utilised a product of science?

Did you live in a cave, or did you have a house with electricity.

Were you always naked, or did you wear clothes that probably contained synthetic fabrics.

Did you never take medicines.

Did you never wash or clean your teeth.

Did you never use a vehicle.

Did you never use any product derived from refined oil.

Did you never eat any processed food items.

Etc.

Etc.

Which has nothing to do with the title/point of this thread. Einstein believed in science.

Being wrong about something means person doesnt know whats truth. So person cannot know if science is true. Science was proven wrong about gays, and Einstein was proven wrong too. That means Einstein could be wrong for believing in science, just as he was wrong about atomic bombs.

Scientists are right alot, but are wrong most of the time.

The whole consensus around science is being receptive to facts and information as they come, while challenging personal beliefs/views they have, if it conflicts with the evidence.

Rejecting science just because it can be wrong is in the incorrect approach. Understanding there is a possibility that scientific information you assumed to be true could be wrong, is the right one.

Accepting science when it is probably wrong is much worse approach, in my opinion. At best, I can admit that science is sometimes right, but I wouldnt exactly say that we should believe it all the time. However, I notice that many people accept everything what scientists say as pure facts.
