There is no American ambassador or embassy in Taiwan.  The UN and most of the world does not recognize Taiwan.

....and China is Taiwan.  There's no question they are one people who wish to live as one nation.  The question that must be resolved  is whether or not all Chinese deserve to live in freedom and equality or whether all Chinese people must be forced to kow-tow to yet another dictator-for-life  I have no doubt that most mainlanders would prefer to live as free as Taiwan and most Taiwanese would be happy to be reunited if only they could keep their freedoms.
