Then you had better work on your marketing as people are leaving the city citing it to be too expensive and too unsafe.
I had to read this a few times just to make sure you were really being serious.

Fox News and right wing media obsess over painting every city they can in any way tie to liberalism as dirty crime infested apocalyptic shit holes, and they run this message to the ground 24/7. So to hear someone who is at least sympathetic to right wing views claiming the left needs to work on its marketing is hilarious. If there’s a perception problem, people like you are the reason.

Oh wow, are you saying most of the people leaving in New York watch Fox News? Most of the people leaving are as rabidly devoted to the Democrat faction as you are and shit all over anything Fox says.

Your presumption about Fox driving a narrative in New York is as ridiculous and just as unserious as Jussie Smollet claiming Chicago is "MAGA Country!"

I think facts are a better indicator of reality than people’s perceptions, especially when issues such as crime in “liberal cities” is politicized in an era where facts themselves no longer matter.

I also live in NY, so I couldn’t care less what people claim in some poll.

Follow the thread, my comment about the narrative being made up was in response to your claim about NY being some crime infested shithole

Specifically, do you think Fox is part of a grand conspiracy causing Democrats in New York to want to move out of New York? Or is a much more believable reason is at play here, that those Democrats have authentic negative personal experiences that are reflected in the polls and migration data.

What do you think Occam's Razor suggests?

in response to your claim about NY being some crime infested shithole
That wasn't my claim. I only linked polling and migration data, which you seem to accept without refuting. I don't live in New York, I drove through it one time ever, but those people polled in New York do/did.

Again, you better convince the people leaving of that. Kathy Hochul isn't doing a good job of it.

You know you have a problem when Democrat run MSNBC says Hochul needs to do better.

And here is CBS saying the same thing.

New York State saw the greatest population decline of any state in the last year according to the most recent U.S. Census data.

From a tourists information perspective.

Certain areas of New York are usually safe.

Certain areas of New York are generally not safe.

And certain areas of New York that are usually safe, are not safe after dark.

Same as most big cities I suppose.

Even in your best attempt to argue in good faith you still can’t help but to caricature everything I just said. I never claimed or implied in any way that there is some grand conspiracy. Fox “News” is an entertainment business, and unfortunately fear and disgust sells. They’re just giving their audience what it wants.

People are always going to have negative personal experiences, what matters is the context we put them into. If I get mugged I might think it was a freak once in a lifetime kind of thing, if I turn on the news and all it talks about are how muggings are out of control and everyone’s at risk I’m going to see it very differently. So when news networks run these stories on a 24/7 loop and have become financially invested in convincing its audience that we now live in a permanent state of carnage that’s going to have an impact on how people look at their own experiences.

But setting that aside, you keep pretending this is all about crime and terrible leadership. That’s nonsense. By far the biggest reason people are leaving is the high price of real estate which is the exact opposite of your narrative. If NY was the shithole you pretend it to be people wouldn’t be willing to pay so much to live here.

If I wanted to do that, I would have pulled a Cathy Neumann and say "so what you are really saying is (X)"

I just asked a question. I'm sorry if you felt it wasn't a question.

and unfortunately fear and disgust sells. They’re just giving their audience what it wants.
Agreed, which is why CNN hosted Trump (again)

My unanswered question was whether you thought Democrats in New York that are leaving (the ones polled) actually watch Fox, nevermind believe Fox.
Cause I don't watch Fox either, which is why I pulled up that poll.

You probably have watched more Fox than I have, truth be told.

But setting that aside, you keep pretending this is all about crime and terrible leadership
Not  at all, you keep skimming over  my point that it's a marketing problem. Do you know what that means?

Hey SubTeach, the poll you are referring to was polling people in New York State, NOT just New York City. So you can’t even get that right. What a dummy.

“New Yorkers are so worried about crime, sky-high housing costs and struggling schools, 27% percent of state residents said they want to move away in the next five years, a survey revealed Wednesday”

“Overall, Big Apple residents gave higher quality of life grades in the survey than their suburban and upstate counterparts”

And the survey was more positive for city residents than rural residents. So it’s the knuckleheads in red districts that are unhappy and leaving the state. Probably because they can’t earn - just like you.

Here is some nice MSNBC crap to veg over Fanchick,

MSNBC's Ruhle added that city residents do not feel safe despite efforts by local and state officials to address things like subway safety, specifically citing fears that New York City could become like San Francisco. The West Coast city has become a focal point for complaints about crime in cities, with SFGATE reporting last month the rates of violent and property crimes had risen in August and September this year compared to the same time last year.

But while overall crime in Manhattan increased in Bragg’s first year as DA in 2022 — as it did in most cities around the country — murders declined. And in the first few months of 2023, murders, robberies, rape and shooting incidents are all down from the same period last year

Again, marketing problem, or people leaving would not report crime as one of the top reasons for leaving.

but the important part here is to understand the proportionality from this research: murder is 2,571 times worse than larceny,” says Milnes.
That's a rather weird and arbitrary methodology for that report you cited. I am pretty sure the people in the poll I cited made a much different calculation.

So this wasn’t you?…

Maybe most people do not want to be like New Yorkers that accept a high level of violence with low guns and low security. Crazy and violent people strut around New York and that is the norm for them.
