I cant seem to find a clear answer. I know that blessing food is desireable.

Is it okay for me to say a prayer above a glass of water before drinking it? To me, it seems like a positive activity which makes me think of God more often.

As long as how you pray does not impact others, then what you do is your business.

Sure. It is fairly common for Communion to be blessed. The wine is just alcoholic water.  If you're Baptist (and probably a few other denominations)  the grape juice is flavored water. Also, anytime a meal is blessed, wouldn't that include the drinks already at the table?

Water is regularly blessed and consumed.

Yes. The water won’t get undrinkable, so it is your issue.

What does blessing mean in your view?

For me when we give thanks before eating, it is merely thanking God for his provisions to us. It is not to make the food healthier or less evil.

Indeed, if we decided to eat or drink poison and thanked God for it, it would be mocking God.

Food is not made holier by blessing it.

A priest of at least 3 years has the ability to turn waters  into holy water.

I suspect a priest went to the beach one day.
Or in a car over a bridge, just blessing the waters.
If i had the ability to make norm water into holy water , i would be blessing allllllll the waters.
I'd  be baptizing everyone at the beach.
Like it or not.   Secret baptisms all round.

Hey do you reckon someone has run tests on holy water ? Haha.
The outcome of these tests.

To have a wild guess.  I'd say  Holy water and normal water  would be the same.
It's just a guess.

That's the thing with holy stuff Deb.

You only need to think it's there.

So testing will reveal nothing.

Who knows what pervy priests add to the bottle.

It's what is known as anointing.

The more one sneezes infront of others, the more blessed they are.

I would guess authorization. Conservation of mass in all changes and conservation of elements in chemical changes ensures that water doesn’t just arbitrarily turn into something else. The only way for that if it is like stamping on a bill so it becomes a law and it has more recognition, etc.

Or is it?

Because getting the flu is really a blessing from nature, I mean, you can take off school and play video games the day!

You can picture a person of a church, a true believer  would of been first to have the waters " tested "
Scientists would of just went with his/ her findings.
It would of definitely been a " before and after " experiment.

I believe people might every now and again get toxicology reports on holy waters.
With new Technology.

Orrrrrrrrr

Blessings contain no trace elements.
And thats fair enough, you wouldn't think they would.

If we "ask"  the bible , can we be baptized in "norm"  water, the bible would "say" NO.
Thats Johns department.

But i bet Being Baptizing with straight tap water would feel like being baptized in fully blessed  holy waters.
Anddddddddddd the outcomes would be identical.

No but it comes down to this.
If these blessings of the waters " ceramony " took like 1 hour to perform.
Some priests might cut corners.
Not calling all priests "corner cutters"  .  I mean thats the last thing they'd want to be falsely accused of.
But they might.

I suspect Every second person in heaven probably thinks they were baptized.

What does blessing mean in your view?
Well, its not a simple answer.
It means to remember God before, while and after drinking the water.
It means to thank God for everything good.
It means to pray to God to avoid evil.
It means to pray to God to keep providing for us that which is good.

I believe when such prayer is done, it makes the water better.

Since I drink water over 10 times a day, and eat only 1-2 times a day, to me it seems good to include prayers while drinking water as opposed to just prayers when I eat.

I am just wondering if I am wrong in such belief, because I cant seem to find solid support for it. I mean the religious support, not random opinions on Quora.

Oh so your talking about " Amateur "  blessings.

You should all be trying to rise in the ranks.
God likes the pope more than others then bishops is it ?
Or cardinals.
Alllllllllllllllllllll the way to ya basic person that calls themselves a Christian.

What i am saying is.
The Pope can bless stuff the best right.
He can bless kids with his touch.

Sounds like you are already doing it. Keep going.

So long as we dont do things publicly to have others look at us and see us do things for the sake of seeing us - all good I bet.
