5:50 mark "I would compromise your freedom to protect the majority of women, absolutely"  Majority Harry Reid "time to outlaw prostitution"

I find it "interesting" the push for legal marijuana because you should be able to choose etc, they claim to be about choice and yet.....

I dunno, should it be legal or not?

I didn't watch but I wonder what the purpose of such laws is, other than men's desire to subjugate and oppress women.

The wingnut regressive left does not want women to have control over their own bodies.

p.o.s. Harry is a Democrat no denying that, the woman certainly sounds like one......seems rather hypocritical, then you look at the people working in the legal district and sure seems like the free market is working just fine.

but yeah the most shocking part was violating your individual rights to control the majority in the guise of protection, how fascist.

The government is not justified in arresting people for the production and consumption of marijuana, and posession for personal use.  It's not immoral, and doesn't pose a significant threat to anyone when used reasonably.  It really should be constitutionally protected property, insofar as abuse is not inherent to it.  This is private business, and strict scrutiny should apply.

There's an argument to be had for government intervention in placing regulations on the marijuana industry to protect youth.  There is an inherent public interest once you try to make profit by catering to the public. The same applies to pretty much anything, is the government justified in what it is doing?

where prostitution is legal there seems to be less crime etc compared to where it's not, kinda like gun free zones.  Justification isn't required, it's about control and them telling us that they know what's best for us plain and simple.  When you think about what they would allow us to do vs what they won't it makes you wonder about those things they do allow.  Abortion is ok, but consensual sex for money is not, though if it's for free no problem.  Few have ever picked up on these 'inconsistencies" and asked why it is that way, because lemmings trust the government with their safety, choices and pretty much their lives and many aspects of.

The immorality of morality.

Legal prostitution would save hundreds of thousands of lives, but for some reason that doesn't matter.

Harm reduction is the moral thing to do by any standard except for the particular brand of morals which are based in a fantasy world.

@Paul
the majority of democrats in office aren't as concerned with morality as they are with control, this is why they want to impose stricter controls on "x" but ignore the breaking of "y" laws.
that's not to say the religious right isn't opposed to it as well, but the 2 people in the video, the woman and Reid are democrats, if you find something similar with conservatives in their place I'd be happy to criticize them as well.

This is one of the major contradictions in the US. You can carry a military gun and kill dozens of people, but you can't bang a whore.

The judge banged his gavel and said l, "Prostitution is illegal... unless I can watch it!"

Which is why prostitution is ok as long as a camera is present.

I never did understand why prostitution is illegal, but pornography is legal.

the objection by the religious I get, that I can understand, but the Democrats many of whom aren't religious, yet they make speeches as to how it should be illegal doesn't make sense in addition to the reason you gave.
All I can say is it's about control, that's what most laws do imo, under the guise of protection, they control, and it's just getting worse, think about.

prostitution doesn't end in the death of (x) so that's a terrible comparison, there is no debate of how you define prostitution, 2 consenting adults, but the debate rages on as to what constitutes a baby and or person.

Removing cancer ends in death you seem ok with that. The fact is both are religion forcing it's way into other people's choices.

it's not religion if science or it is generally accepted that it is a baby/child whatever, though it's difficult to believe based on the people I have encountered, cancer can never be a child and become an adult.
Prostitution should be far less controversial anyway as we don't really have to argue about defining things or whether a baby is being killed or not etc.  It's rather strange that more progress hasn't been made for the very reasons in the video, I think that's a fight that can and should be won but doesn't seem anyone is willing to fight it.  Given the women's groups and what they claim they stand for, they would take a more active role in this issue and yet.....

Neither can aborted pre humans. A great reason it has issues still is women like Stormy who use the fact the fucked someone to go after them. Who should be fighting for it is porn stars but they seem to avoid it for some reason.

I don't think sex should have a price, or humans in general.  I don't think it should be advertised (pimps etc...) and the prostitutes need to be able to contact police.  I don't care about the legal status, it should be minimal for the prostitute, legal/illegal whatever mitigates their risk factors, heavy on the marketeers, probably slap a hefty fine on the buyer but no felonies.

that is a keen observation I hadn't considered, my initial thought is reducing competition?  lol I don't know, but that is something to ponder.

(but pre humans can and do, some even without the help of medicine, but that's getting into the weeds and off topic :)   )

tbh like many of the topics I get involved in, I don't really agree nor disagree but like the nuances and inconsistencies contained in them.

my body my choice except for renting it out, though many do make money with their bodies, modeling for one.  Again why is it ok to have random sex for free, but if money is exchanged that's illegal?  (assuming consenting adults)  What if they have free sex and a tip is left for a job well done?  We tip other lines of work, for other reasons, can we call it a gift?  donation?
Can I bribe or pay my wife for sex with money?  why or why not?

All sex has a price either monetarily or emotionally or physically. Women should be able to make money on their assets

@IlDiavolo
I don't mean any of this as 'Convincing 'Logic,
Though logic may be used in places,
I only mean this to speak what is in my mind on the topic.

. . .
I voted against legalizing marijuana in Oregon,
I didn't see the need to add new and easy access to something I viewed as harmful without a prescription,
Ask me to vote against cheeseburgers or alcohol (I don't drink),
And I probably would have been for the status quo,
Because the people were already hooked and unwilling to let go.

That said,
I've long despised the common 'punishments for marijuana,
Absolut-Ly r*****ed,
Send a normal person to prison to be influenced by criminals? BAH!
. . .

I 'do find it difficult to argue against the concept of freedom to sell one's services.
I don't like working my job,
I can understand the concept that some people would prefer to sell their body.
I'd sell one of my kidneys if it was legal and I could get enough money,
Though that doesn't making selling my kidney morally right or wrong,
Just a commentary on preference.
. .

I don't like that part of a person,
If they are the type to frequent prostitutes or strip clubs,
Comes off as dirty, taking advantage.

And many people 'are taken advantage of,
They fall into a profession due to having no options, pressure, coercion, or temptation.
, ,
Though I 'must again admit, 'some prefer it,
And think nothing of it.
. .
Yet there being abortions, orphans, and single parent kids,
'Bothers me.

And the argument exists,
Oooh, if only it was legal and properly managed, people wouldn't be mistreated. (I'm struggling not to use a mocking voice)
. .
Or. . Perhaps people find such behavior 'Acceptable, when it is legalized, socially condoned. (And yet a doubt in the back of my head that stats might not back me)
. .
. . .

It's just sex, alright.
It's just con-consent, alright.

What I said above,
Isn't meant to say prostitution is or is not consensual.
I mean it,
To comment on moral switches.

I've been wondering on a question, ever since a comment by RationalMadman,
About Why the 'Why matters?
. .
I didn't think much of his answer, but it had me thinking,
And I mused on Absurdism a bit.

I'm not bothered by people not liking prostitution.

Urgh, stupid misspelling.

It's just sex, alright.
It's just Non-consent, alright.

Is what I meant to say,
Speaking on moral switches.
