I am going to help you out here, but I know your heart. You like black people. You may even feel bad for black people, but you also think they are inherently inferior to you. That may or may not be a subconscious belief. I am going to help you though. It's not merely about rhetoric. You have some beliefs and you need to do some work on yourself to either fix them or at least be honest about them
You can’t deny that black and Hispanic people have lower incomes and education as a statical group
African Americans are disproportionately affected by poverty and barriers to higher education.
They also have less wealth and are less likely to own their own homes.
African americans are often unlikely to own their own homes, have lower credit scores and less savings to put a down payment on their home.
This is the result of systemic racism in this country
Years of systematic racism such as forced segregation and Jim crow laws have impact that can still be felt today. While black people generally are treated equal under the law they often lack the resources of a lot white folks have but aren't as easily able to recognize.
For example. Poverty is often a cycle that is very tough to escape from. It might be there is a lack of resources in bany black communities. For example higher paying jobs that are willing to hire African Americans are more likely to position themselves in predominantly white areas away from places easily accessible by public transportation. We also have the fact that it's hard to save due to things such a as food deserts making food both more expensive and less healthy in black communities.
The violence in these communities as well as a lot of the lawlessness can be an impediment to getting good sleep or feeling safe walking to work and doing other activities that help people escape poverty. If you are white you are also more likely to know small business owners or be friends with somebody who does and is willing to give you a shot at a job you don't quite deserve. This is a benefit that can't be measured and what some might refer to as a white privilege, though it certainly wouldn't apply to all whites.
Poor whites used to be part of the low information voters, .
Low information voting in general has always been a problem among all demographics and is why it is up to policy makers to present as clear a case for their position as possible to the general public, so voters can make an intelligent choice in their own best interests.
but now they have gotten even worse - the misinformed, prone to conspiracy theories voters. Now they have created their own category
Unfortunately policy makers are up against a very tough adversary whether it be intelligence services overseas taking advantage of the free speech we welcome in the United States, or trolls from various image boards doing the same. It's a unique challenge to simultaneously battle disinformation campaigns while simultaneously respecting freedom of speech and right now all sides of the info wars are making missteps and negotiating how to proceed in the future.
Until we can see a healthy resolution to the both the misinformation campaigns as well as respecting freedom of speech, we may have to learn how to navigate the problems that can happen from grownups who were never educated on how to be media savvy.
For example conspiracy theories ranging from GMO's that will kill us all to the propaganda that the 2020 election was stolen are having very real effects on the political process in the United States.
Several informal surveys and studies have shown that the politician most benefiting from these misinformation campaigns is Donald Trump.
Whether you like Trump or agree with his policies or not, I hope we can all agree that the United States would be better off if we can have elections decided by more informed voters who are capable of voting in their own best interests.
Certainly finding ways to make the public more media savvy as well as giving institutions the power to battle disinformation campaigns will create a more informed public who will be able to more effectively vote in their own best interests.
