We can see the USM is afraid to make a move. Terrified, paralysed and trembling as a Novice and a Madman come for the throne he has rested idle upon for much longer than deserved.

Will the champ make a move or silently wither away? The era of cowards sitting still at the top is soon to be abolished; move or perish, rise or fall that is the way of the competitive debater.

I wonder what would happen if Mike, the admin/owner, introduced Rating decay for every 14 days of debate inactivity muahahaha what would the ex-champs turned timid sideline sitters do?

I’d support ELO decay.

Similarly, I’d support there being a half dozen different rating scales (from a data mining perspective, it could be a treasure trove!).

As a supremely active voter, you have sideline sitting privilege.

All other sideline sitters shall kneel before the risk takers. You need only bow your head.

Is USM to avoid being characterized as a call-out thread? It seems supremely obvious who this is addressed to.

I'm not opposed to the content, just making sure I understood the decision correctly. I tend to misunderstand socially motivated decisions more often than others.

I don't. All that does is encourage users to quit debating once they take a hiatus. Not everyone has the IRL time to be on this site frequently. And I also believe the skills of the best debaters should be recognized. This includes past debaters.
