Considering that guns are used 500,000 - 2,000,000 times per year in self defense I would say that it is quite substantial.

62% of "gun related violence" is suicide

so, "crime" isn't even the "biggest problem" on this topic

and if you want to "save lives" try raising the driving age to 25

or make speed limiters mandatory on all registered vehicles

the number one killer of infants and children and teens is automobile accidents (not "crime")

Suicides are not caused by guns, if someone wants to kill themselves they can do that in any way they want. Furthermore, it is not the responsibility of policy makers to protect people from themselves. On the driving point, I do not think raising the driving age would work because the reason new drivers get into more crashes is mainly becasue they are inexperienced. I see no problem with spped limiters, there is no good reason to go 150 mph. Just because there are other things that kill people, it does not mean we should not still try to reduce crime. 

teen drivers are just as safe as the general population (statistically speaking) iff they are driving alone

the majority of automobile related deaths involve a driver under the age of 25 with passengers (distracting the driver and or encouraging them to "show off")

Personally I'd say guns 'can increase suicide in society, if you give someone an option they might take it, though some people do or don't regardless of the option,

It's why people are encouraged to 'take said options from themselves when suicidal, or why they are given healthy options such as a plan to call this or those friends if suicidal,

It's why there are suicide watches in hospitals even when a person has their weapons taken away, some people just determined, for the moment or long term,

Can increase war in society, hence why tyrannical governments seek to remove weapons and likelyhood of resistance.

As for crime, I'm unsure.

If suicide is acceptable when you're sick and dying suicide should be acceptable at any point in someone's life. The choice to take your own life should be your choice so I don't take suicide into account when discussing guns.
