No. The webservice is shutting down, but the domain remains privately registered. I reached out to the last listed owner about buying everything, and their response was to shut it all down. The domain name arguably has a value exceeding 100k, although nobody in their right mind would pay that.

I'm waiting for it to be delivered digitally. I outsourced it. Should have it by tomorrow.
I have a rudimentary backup of DDO hosted on my webservice. It's essentially a text file of every account, debate, forum post, etc.
It's approximately 106 MB.

There is a more thorough version in the works, but it's not a guarantee. I'm 15 hours into a backup of the site, and it's only about 30% done. Currently it's about 796MB. I'll host that content as well, if (big if), the back-up works.
I'll post to this forum when it's completed.
Good riddance, to be honest. Debate.org has been Ozymandias for nearly 5 years now and it needs to be put to rest. Looking at it has been depressing since 2017 but there's probably a lot of debates worth saving on there. Not so much time anymore now though.
Fuck this was like my favorite website. It feels like everything I used to like about the internet is dead.

It had some nice, though flawed features.
As I recall I ended up finding it from looking up opinions on Google,
Just a quick way to see general thoughts people had.
Eventually I joined, as I was looking to question some opinions of my own, for a bit.
I am tired by just scrolling through DART forums, and DDO forums is even larger.
So, do you guys know perhaps, what is the largest forum thread on DDO?

Looks like the record is permanently locked unless you are a hacker who has nothing better to do.
In the meantime, I’m going to pull some data from the old mafia games until they get deleted.

My priority was to collect data that could be quickly acquired since I was on a time limit (only a few day until the site shut down). At first I only tired manually typing the setups and who won and lost each game, but that was going slow, so started over and I started only recording the winners and losers. A bit later though, the obvious idea of screenshotting everything finally occurred to me, and as a result, I started over again and screenshotted info from every game, all 283 of them.
I will try to manually type in all of the info from the screenshots onto a Google Doc later.

This is wrong. I just noticed DP1 of Animal Kingdom Mafia was in the Miscellaneous Forum rather than the Games Forum (implying games were played in the Miscellaneous Forum before being played in the Games Forum) so I backtracked all they way the last page of threads in the Miscellaneous Forum.
Sure enough, there were old Mafia games predating Animal Kingdom Mafia that were never recorded in the archives.
Animal Kingdom Mafia was 11 years ago. These ancient games were up to 13 years ago, when DDO’s forums first went live. The sad thing is, I don’t have any time to screenshot these newly uncovered old games. I have to go to work in like 5 minutes. I’ll have to try to get what I can of them after I get off work, which won’t be until 11pm (currently 1:30pm at the time of this post). DDO goes offline tomorrow, so I don’t think I have the time to get info on every game. I can maybe gather the names of the games, but that’s about it. The players in them and the setups they used will be lost to history.

So this leads me to a question for the older users: What exactly was DDO like in its heyday?

A solid group of core users with different POVs that respected each other and somehow all got along for the most part despite ideological differences. I learned a ton. As the site gained more members, the demographic skewed much younger and turned all cliquey with weird popularity contests including one about a "presidency." I remember going back to the site after a long hiatus and feeling like it turned into a digital high school or something. I believe this turned off new members, especially quality members over age 18, while older members naturally moved on. I think it could have made a small comeback around 2020 if it hadn't been abandoned.

I feel like the original domain of debate.com is way more valuable. It must cost a ton if nobody's done anything with that yet.
I would have bought DDO for like $10k if they were willing to sell the whole thing. What a shame. RIP to one of my fave sites.

Caught a break off work to say this, but screw it. I am going to document these games, even if it means pulling an all-nighter. Call me crazy, but this project of mine has made me realize just how much I love researching things in general. And how much I admire the culture of DDO and DART.
I’m thinking I can get it done before the Juggle CEOs wake up and shut everything down. It should be fine as long as the site shutdown isn’t on a automatic timer.
So, if you could save someone else's data who would you pick and why?
For me, Envisage was always one of my favorite people to read the debates of and talk with.
I think that it is going to be quite the loss once his content is gone.

Done. I got 25 games that predate Animal Kingdom Mafia. Now I can finally complete the archives.

Good thing you pointed that out. I just went back a got it to work.
I did save more than just mafia games. I also have screenshots of the top 1,000 debaters by elo, as well as the link to the DDO Movie.
